Acts 16:1He came to Derbe and Lystra: and behold, a certain disciple was there, named Timothy, the son of a Jewess who believed; but his father was a Greek.And he came to Derbe and Lystra: and behold, a certain disciple was there, by name Timotheus, son of a Jewish believing woman, but [the] father a Greek,Then came he to Derbe and Lystra: and, behold, a certain disciple was there, named Timotheus, the son of a certain woman, which was a Jewess, and believed; but his father was a Greek:
Acts 16:2The brothers who were at Lystra and Iconium gave a good testimony about him.who had a [good] testimony of the brethren in Lystra and Iconium.Which was well reported of by the brethren that were at Lystra and Iconium.
Acts 16:3Paul wanted to have him go forth with him, and he took and circumcised him because of the Jews who were in those parts; for they all knew that his father was a Greek.Him would Paul have go forth with him, and took [him and] circumcised him on account of the Jews who were in those places, for they all knew his father that he was a Greek.Him would Paul have to go forth with him; and took and circumcised him because of the Jews which were in those quarters: for they knew all that his father was a Greek.
Acts 16:4As they went on their way through the cities, they delivered the decrees to them to keep which had been ordained by the apostles and elders who were at Jerusalem.And as they passed through the cities they instructed them to observe the decrees determined on by the apostles and elders who were in Jerusalem.And as they went through the cities, they delivered them the decrees for to keep, that were ordained of the apostles and elders which were at Jerusalem.
Acts 16:5So the assemblies were strengthened in the faith, and increased in number daily.The assemblies therefore were confirmed in the faith, and increased in number every day.And so were the churches established in the faith, and increased in number daily.
Acts 16:6When they had gone through the region of Phrygia and Galatia, they were forbidden by the Holy Spirit to speak the word in Asia.And having passed through Phrygia and the Galatian country, having been forbidden by the Holy Spirit to speak the word in Asia,Now when they had gone throughout Phrygia and the region of Galatia, and were forbidden of the Holy Ghost to preach the word in Asia,
Acts 16:7When they had come opposite Mysia, they tried to go into Bithynia, but the Spirit didn't allow them.having come down to Mysia, they attempted to go to Bithynia, and the Spirit of Jesus did not allow them;After they were come to Mysia, they assayed to go into Bithynia: but the Spirit suffered them not.
Acts 16:8Passing by Mysia, they came down to Troas.and having passed by Mysia they descended to Troas.And they passing by Mysia came down to Troas.
Acts 16:9A vision appeared to Paul in the night. There was a man of Macedonia standing, begging him, and saying, "Come over into Macedonia and help us."And a vision appeared to Paul in the night: There was a certain Macedonian man, standing and beseeching him, and saying, Pass over into Macedonia and help us.And a vision appeared to Paul in the night; There stood a man of Macedonia, and prayed him, saying, Come over into Macedonia, and help us.
Acts 16:10When he had seen the vision, immediately we sought to go forth into Macedonia, concluding that the Lord had called us to preach the gospel to them.And when he had seen the vision, immediately we sought to go forth to Macedonia, concluding that the Lord had called us to announce to them the glad tidings.And after he had seen the vision, immediately we endeavoured to go into Macedonia, assuredly gathering that the Lord had called us for to preach the gospel unto them.
Acts 16:11Setting sail therefore from Troas, we made a straight course to Samothrace, and the day following to Neapolis;Having sailed therefore away from Troas, we went in a straight course to Samothracia, and on the morrow to Neapolis,Therefore loosing from Troas, we came with a straight course to Samothracia, and the next day to Neapolis;
Acts 16:12and from there to Philippi, which is a city of Macedonia, the first of the district, a Roman colony. We were staying some days in this city.and thence to Philippi, which is [the] first city of that part of Macedonia, a colony. And we were staying in that city certain days.And from thence to Philippi, which is the chief city of that part of Macedonia, and a colony: and we were in that city abiding certain days.
Acts 16:13On the Sabbath day we went forth outside of the city by a riverside, where we supposed there was a place of prayer, and we sat down, and spoke to the women who had come together.And on the sabbath day we went outside the gate by the river, where it was the custom for prayer to be, and we sat down and spoke to the women who had assembled.And on the sabbath we went out of the city by a river side, where prayer was wont to be made; and we sat down, and spake unto the women which resorted thither.
Acts 16:14A certain woman named Lydia, a seller of purple, of the city of Thyatira, one who worshipped God, heard us; whose heart the Lord opened to listen to the things which were spoken by Paul.And a certain woman, by name Lydia, a seller of purple, of the city of Thyatira, who worshipped God, heard; whose heart the Lord opened to attend to the things spoken by Paul.And a certain woman named Lydia, a seller of purple, of the city of Thyatira, which worshipped God, heard us: whose heart the Lord opened, that she attended unto the things which were spoken of Paul.
Acts 16:15When she and her household were baptized, she begged us, saying, "If you have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come into my house, and stay." She urged us.And when she had been baptised and her house, she besought [us], saying, If ye have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come into my house and abide [there]. And she constrained us.And when she was baptized, and her household, she besought us, saying, If ye have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come into my house, and abide there. And she constrained us.
Acts 16:16It happened, as we were going to prayer, that a certain girl having a spirit of divination met us, who brought her masters much gain by fortune telling.And it came to pass as we were going to prayer that a certain female slave, having a spirit of Python, met us, who brought much profit to her masters by prophesying.And it came to pass, as we went to prayer, a certain damsel possessed with a spirit of divination met us, which brought her masters much gain by soothsaying:
Acts 16:17The same, following after Paul and us, cried out, "These men are servants of the Most High God, who proclaim to us the way of salvation!"She, having followed Paul and us, cried saying, These men are bondmen of the Most High God, who announce to you [the] way of salvation.The same followed Paul and us, and cried, saying, These men are the servants of the most high God, which shew unto us the way of salvation.
Acts 16:18This she did for many days. But Paul, becoming distressed, turned and said to the spirit, "I charge you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her!" It came out that very hour.And this she did many days. And Paul, being distressed, turned, and said to the spirit, I enjoin thee in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her. And it came out the same hour.And this did she many days. But Paul, being grieved, turned and said to the spirit, I command thee in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her. And he came out the same hour.
Acts 16:19But when her masters saw that the hope of their gain was gone, they laid hold on Paul and Silas, and dragged them into the marketplace before the rulers.And her masters, seeing that the hope of their gains was gone, having seized Paul and Silas, dragged [them] into the market before the magistrates;And when her masters saw that the hope of their gains was gone, they caught Paul and Silas, and drew them into the marketplace unto the rulers,
Acts 16:20When they had brought them to the magistrates, they said, "These men, being Jews, are agitating our city,and having brought them up to the praetors, said, These men utterly trouble our city, being Jews,And brought them to the magistrates, saying, These men, being Jews, do exceedingly trouble our city,
Acts 16:21and set forth customs which it is not lawful for us to accept or to observe, being Romans."and announce customs which it is not lawful for us to receive nor practise, being Romans.And teach customs, which are not lawful for us to receive, neither to observe, being Romans.
Acts 16:22The multitude rose up together against them, and the magistrates tore their clothes off of them, and commanded them to be beaten with rods.And the crowd rose up too against them; and the praetors, having torn off their clothes, commanded to scourge [them].And the multitude rose up together against them: and the magistrates rent off their clothes, and commanded to beat them.
Acts 16:23When they had laid many stripes on them, they threw them into prison, charging the jailer to keep them safely,And having laid many stripes upon them they cast [them] into prison, charging the jailor to keep them safely;And when they had laid many stripes upon them, they cast them into prison, charging the jailor to keep them safely:
Acts 16:24who, having received such a charge, threw them into the inner prison, and secured their feet in the stocks.who, having received such a charge, cast them into the inner prison, and secured their feet to the stocks.Who, having received such a charge, thrust them into the inner prison, and made their feet fast in the stocks.
Acts 16:25But about midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them.And at midnight Paul and Silas, in praying, were praising God with singing, and the prisoners listened to them.And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them.
Acts 16:26Suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened, and everyone's bonds were loosened.And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison shook, and all the doors were immediately opened, and the bonds of all loosed.And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one's bands were loosed.
Acts 16:27The jailer, being roused out of sleep and seeing the prison doors open, drew his sword and was about to kill himself, supposing that the prisoners had escaped.And the jailor being awakened out of his sleep, and seeing the doors of the prison opened, having drawn a sword was going to kill himself, thinking the prisoners had fled.And the keeper of the prison awaking out of his sleep, and seeing the prison doors open, he drew out his sword, and would have killed himself, supposing that the prisoners had been fled.
Acts 16:28But Paul cried with a loud voice, saying, "Don't harm yourself, for we are all here!"But Paul called out with a loud voice, saying, Do thyself no harm, for we are all here.But Paul cried with a loud voice, saying, Do thyself no harm: for we are all here.
Acts 16:29He called for lights and sprang in, and, fell down trembling before Paul and Silas,And having asked for lights, he rushed in, and, trembling, fell down before Paul and Silas.Then he called for a light, and sprang in, and came trembling, and fell down before Paul and Silas,
Acts 16:30and brought them out and said, "Sirs, what must I do to be saved?"And leading them out said, Sirs, what must I do that I may be saved?And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved?
Acts 16:31They said, "Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your house."And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus and thou shalt be saved, thou and thy house.And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.
Acts 16:32They spoke the word of the Lord to him, and to all who were in his house.And they spoke to him the word of the Lord, with all that were in his house.And they spake unto him the word of the Lord, and to all that were in his house.
Acts 16:33He took them the same hour of the night, and washed their stripes, and was immediately baptized, he and all his household.And he took them the same hour of the night and washed [them] from their stripes; and was baptised, he and all his straightway.And he took them the same hour of the night, and washed their stripes; and was baptized, he and all his, straightway.
Acts 16:34He brought them up into his house, and set food before them, and rejoiced greatly, with all his house, having believed in God.And having brought them into his house he laid the table [for them], and rejoiced with all his house, having believed in God.And when he had brought them into his house, he set meat before them, and rejoiced, believing in God with all his house.
Acts 16:35But when it was day, the magistrates sent the sergeants, saying, "Let those men go."And when it was day, the praetors sent the lictors, saying, Let those men go.And when it was day, the magistrates sent the serjeants, saying, Let those men go.
Acts 16:36The jailer reported these words to Paul, saying, "The magistrates have sent to let you go; now therefore come out, and go in peace."And the jailor reported these words to Paul: The praetors have sent that ye may be let go. Now therefore go out and depart in peace.And the keeper of the prison told this saying to Paul, The magistrates have sent to let you go: now therefore depart, and go in peace.
Acts 16:37But Paul said to them, "They have beaten us publicly, without a trial, men who are Romans, and have cast us into prison! Do they now release us secretly? No, most assuredly, but let them come themselves and bring us out!"But Paul said to them, Having beaten us publicly uncondemned, us who are Romans, they have cast us into prison, and now they thrust us out secretly? no, indeed, but let them come themselves and bring us out.But Paul said unto them, They have beaten us openly uncondemned, being Romans, and have cast us into prison; and now do they thrust us out privily? nay verily; but let them come themselves and fetch us out.
Acts 16:38The sergeants reported these words to the magistrates, and they were afraid when they heard that they were Romans,And the lictors reported these words to the praetors. And they were afraid when they heard they were Romans.And the serjeants told these words unto the magistrates: and they feared, when they heard that they were Romans.
Acts 16:39and they came and begged them. When they had brought them out, they asked them to depart from the city.And they came and besought them, and having brought them out, asked them to go out of the city.And they came and besought them, and brought them out, and desired them to depart out of the city.
Acts 16:40They went out of the prison, and entered into Lydia's house. When they had seen the brothers, they comforted them, and departed.And having gone out of the prison, they came to Lydia; and having seen the brethren, they exhorted them and went away.And they went out of the prison, and entered into the house of Lydia: and when they had seen the brethren, they comforted them, and departed.
