Mark 7:1Then the Pharisees, and some of the scribes gathered together to him, having come from Jerusalem.And the Pharisees and some of the scribes, coming from Jerusalem, are gathered together to him,Then came together to him the Pharisees, and certain of the scribes, who came from Jerusalem.
Mark 7:2Now when they saw some of his disciples eating bread with defiled, that is, unwashed, hands, they found fault.and seeing some of his disciples eat bread with defiled, that is, unwashed, hands,And when they saw some of his disciples eating bread with defiled (that is to say with unwashed) hands, they found fault.
Mark 7:3(For the Pharisees, and all the Jews, don't eat unless they wash their hands and forearms, holding to the tradition of the elders.(for the Pharisees and all the Jews, unless they wash their hands diligently, do not eat, holding what has been delivered by the ancients;For the Pharisees, and all the Jews, except they wash their hands often eat not, holding the tradition of the elders.
Mark 7:4They don't eat when they come from the marketplace, unless they bathe themselves, and there are many other things, which they have received to hold to: washings of cups, pitchers, bronze vessels, and couches.)and [on coming] from the market-place, unless they are washed, they do not eat; and there are many other things which they have received to hold, the washing of cups and vessels, and brazen utensils, and couches),And when they come from the market, except they wash, they eat not. And many other things there are, which they have received to hold, as the washing of cups, and pots, and of brazen vessels, and tables.
Mark 7:5The Pharisees and the scribes asked him, "Why don't your disciples walk according to the tradition of the elders, but eat their bread with unwashed hands?"then the Pharisees and the scribes ask him, Why do thy disciples not walk according to what has been delivered by the ancients, but eat the bread with defiled hands?Then the Pharisees and scribes asked him, Why walk not thy disciples according to the tradition of the elders, but eat bread with unwashed hands?
Mark 7:6He answered them, "Well did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrites, as it is written, 'This people honors me with their lips, But their heart is far from me.But he answering said to them, Well did Esaias prophesy concerning you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honour me with their lips, but their heart is far away from me.He answered and said to them, Well hath Isaiah prophesied concerning you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honoreth me with their lips, but their heart is far from me.
Mark 7:7But in vain do they worship me, Teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.'But in vain do they worship me, teaching [as their] teachings commandments of men.But, in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.
Mark 7:8"For you set aside the commandment of God, and hold tightly to the tradition of men the washing of pitchers and cups, and you do many other such things."[For], leaving the commandment of God, ye hold what is delivered by men [to keep] washings of vessels and cups, and many other such like things ye do.For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do.
Mark 7:9He said to them, "Full well do you reject the commandment of God, that you may keep your tradition.And he said to them, Well do ye set aside the commandment of God, that ye may observe what is delivered by yourselves [to keep].And he said to them, Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition,
Mark 7:10For Moses said, 'Honor your father and your mother;' and, 'He who speaks evil of father or mother, let him be put to death.'For Moses said, Honour thy father and thy mother; and, he who speaks ill of father or mother, let him surely die.For Moses said, Honor thy father and thy mother; and, Whoever curseth father or mother, let him die the death:
Mark 7:11But you say, 'If a man will tell his father or his mother, "Whatever you might have been profited by me is Corban, that is to say, given to God;"'But *ye* say, If a man say to his father or his mother, [It is] corban (that is, gift), whatsoever thou mightest have profit from me by ...But ye say, If a man shall say to his father or mother, It is Corban, that is to say, a gift, by whatever thou mightest be profited by me; he shall be free.
Mark 7:12and you no longer allow him to do anything for his father or his mother,And ye no longer suffer him to do anything for his father or his mother;And ye suffer him no more to do aught for his father or his mother;
Mark 7:13making void the word of God by your tradition, which you have handed down. You do many things like this."making void the word of God by your traditional teaching which ye have delivered; and many such like things ye do.Making the word of God of no effect through your traditions, which ye have delivered: and many such like things ye do.
Mark 7:14He called all the multitude to himself, and said to them, "Hear me, all of you, and understand.And having called again the crowd, he said to them, Hear me, all [of you], and understand:And when he had called all the people to him, he said to them, Hearken to me every one of you, and understand.
Mark 7:15There is nothing from outside of the man, that going into him can defile him; but the things which proceed out of the man are those that defile the man.There is nothing from outside a man entering into him which can defile him; but the things which go out from him, those it is which defile the man.There is nothing from without a man, that entering into him, can defile him: but the things which come out of him, those are they that defile the man.
Mark 7:16If anyone has ears to hear, let him hear!"If any one have ears to hear, let him hear.If any man hath ears to hear, let him hear.
Mark 7:17When he had entered into the house from the multitude, his disciples asked him about the parable.And when he went indoors from the crowd, his disciples asked him concerning the parable.And when he had entered into the house from the people, his disciples asked him concerning the parable.
Mark 7:18He said to them, "Are you so without understanding also? Don't you perceive that whatever goes into the man from outside can't defile him,And he says to them, Are *ye* also thus unintelligent? Do ye not perceive that all that is outside entering into the man cannot defile him,And he saith to them, Are ye so void of understanding also? Do ye not perceive, that whatever thing from without entereth into the man, it cannot defile him.
Mark 7:19because it doesn't go into his heart, but into his belly, and into the latrine, thus making all foods clean?"because it does not enter into his heart but into his belly, and goes out into the draught, purging all meats?Because it entereth not into his heart, but into the belly, and goeth out into the draught, purging all kinds of food.
Mark 7:20He said, "That which proceeds out of the man, that defiles the man.And he said, That which goes forth out of the man, that defiles the man.And he said, That which cometh out of the man, that defileth the man.
Mark 7:21For from within, out of the hearts of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, sexual sins, murders, thefts,For from within, out of the heart of men, go forth evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders,For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders,
Mark 7:22covetings, wickedness, deceit, lustful desires, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, and foolishness.thefts, covetousness, wickednesses, deceit, licentiousness, a wicked eye, injurious language, haughtiness, folly;Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness;
Mark 7:23All these evil things proceed from within, and defile the man."all these wicked things go forth from within and defile the man.All these evil things come from within, and defile the man.
Mark 7:24From there he arose, and went away into the borders of Tyre and Sidon. He entered into a house, and wanted no one to know it, but he couldn't escape detection.And he rose up and went away thence into the borders of Tyre and Sidon; and having entered into a house he would not have any one know [it], and he could not be hid.And from thence he arose, and went into the borders of Tyre and Sidon, and entered into a house, and would have no man know it: but he could not be hid.
Mark 7:25For a woman, whose little daughter had an unclean spirit, having heard of him, came and fell down at his feet.But immediately a woman, whose little daughter had an unclean spirit, having heard of him, came and fell at his feetFor a certain woman, whose young daughter had an unclean spirit, heard of him, and came and fell at his feet:
Mark 7:26Now the woman was a Greek, a Syrophoenician by race. She begged him that he would cast the demon out of her daughter.(and the woman was a Greek, Syrophenician by race), and asked him that he would cast the demon out of her daughter.(The woman was a Greek, a Syrophenician by nation,) and she besought him that he would cast forth the demon out of her daughter.
Mark 7:27But Jesus said to her, "Let the children be filled first, for it is not appropriate to take the children's bread and throw it to the dogs."But [Jesus] said to her, Suffer the children to be first filled; for it is not right to take the children's bread and cast it to the dogs.But Jesus said to her, Let the children first be satisfied: for it is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it to the dogs.
Mark 7:28But she answered him, "Yes, Lord. For even the dogs under the table eat the children's crumbs."But she answered and says to him, Yea, Lord; for even the dogs under the table eat of the children's crumbs.And she answered and said to him, Yes, Lord: yet the dogs under the table eat of the children's crums.
Mark 7:29He said to her, "For this saying, go your way. The demon has gone out of your daughter."And he said to her, Because of this word, go thy way, the demon is gone out of thy daughter.And he said to her, For this saying, depart; the demon is gone out of thy daughter.
Mark 7:30She went away to her house, and found the child laying on the bed, with the demon gone out.And having gone away to her house she found the demon gone out, and her daughter lying on the bed.And when she had come to her house, she found the demon had gone out, and her daughter laid upon the bed.
Mark 7:31Again he departed from the borders of Tyre and Sidon, and came to the sea of Galilee, through the midst of the borders of Decapolis.And again having left the borders of Tyre and Sidon, he came to the sea of Galilee, through the midst of the coasts of Decapolis.And again, departing from the borders of Tyre and Sidon, he came to the sea of Galilee, through the midst of the borders of Decapolis.
Mark 7:32They brought to him one who was deaf and had an impediment in his speech. They begged him to lay his hand on him.And they bring to him a deaf [man] who could not speak right, and they beseech him that he might lay his hand on him.And they bring to him one that was deaf, and had an impediment in his speech; and they beseech him to put his hand upon him.
Mark 7:33He took him aside from the multitude, privately, and put his fingers into his ears, and he spat, and touched his tongue.And having taken him away from the crowd apart, he put his fingers to his ears; and having spit, he touched his tongue;And he took him aside from the multitude, and put his fingers into his ears, and he spit, and touched his tongue.
Mark 7:34Looking up to heaven, he sighed, and said to him, "Ephphatha!" that is, "Be opened!"and looking up to heaven he groaned, and says to him, Ephphatha, that is, Be opened.And looking up to heaven, he sighed, and saith to him, Effatha, that is, Be opened.
Mark 7:35Immediately his ears were opened, and the bond of his tongue was loosed, and he spoke clearly.And immediately his ears were opened, and the band of his tongue was loosed and he spoke right.And immediately his ears were opened, and the string of his tongue was loosed, and he spoke plain.
Mark 7:36He charged them that they should tell no one, but the more he charged them, so much the more widely they proclaimed it.And he charged them that they should speak to no one [of it]. But so much the more *he* charged them, so much the more abundantly *they* proclaimed it;And he charged them that they should tell no man: but the more he charged them; so much the more a great deal they published it;
Mark 7:37They were astonished beyond measure, saying, "He has done all things well. He makes even the deaf hear, and the mute speak!"and they were astonished above measure, saying, He does all things well; he makes both the deaf to hear, and the speechless to speak.And were beyond measure astonished, saying, He hath done all things well; he maketh both the deaf to hear, and the dumb to speak.
