Genesis 25:1Abraham took another wife, and her name was Keturah.And Abraham took another wife named Keturah.
Genesis 25:2She bore him Zimran, Jokshan, Medan, Midian, Ishbak, and Shuah.And she bore him Zimran, and Jokshan, and Medan, and Midian, and Ishbak, and Shuah.
Genesis 25:3Jokshan became the father of Sheba, and Dedan. The sons of Dedan were Asshurim, Letushim, and Leummim.And Jokshan begot Sheba and Dedan; and the sons of Dedan were the Asshurim, and the Letushim, and the Leummim.
Genesis 25:4The sons of Midian: Ephah, Epher, Hanoch, Abida, and Eldaah. All these were the children of Keturah.And the sons of Midian were Ephah, and Epher, and Enoch, and Abida, and Eldaah. All these were sons of Keturah.
Genesis 25:5Abraham gave all that he had to Isaac,And Abraham gave all that he had to Isaac.
Genesis 25:6but to the sons of the concubines who Abraham had, Abraham gave gifts. He sent them away from Isaac his son, while he yet lived, eastward, to the east country.And to the sons of the concubines that Abraham had, Abraham gave gifts, and, while he yet lived, sent them away from Isaac his son, eastward to the east country.
Genesis 25:7These are the days of the years of Abraham's life which he lived: one hundred seventy-five years.And these are the days of the years of Abraham's life which he lived: a hundred and seventy-five years.
Genesis 25:8Abraham gave up the spirit, and died in a good old age, an old man, and full, and was gathered to his people.And Abraham expired and died in a good old age, old and full [of days]; and was gathered to his peoples.
Genesis 25:9Isaac and Ishmael, his sons, buried him in the cave of Machpelah, in the field of Ephron, the son of Zohar the Hittite, which is before Mamre,And his sons Isaac and Ishmael buried him in the cave of Machpelah, in the field of Ephron the son of Zohar the Hittite, which was opposite to Mamre
Genesis 25:10the field which Abraham purchased of the children of Heth. There was Abraham buried, with Sarah his wife.the field that Abraham had purchased of the sons of Heth: there was Abraham buried, and Sarah his wife.
Genesis 25:11It happened after the death of Abraham, that God blessed Isaac, his son. Isaac lived by Beer-lahai-roi.And it came to pass after the death of Abraham, that God blessed his son Isaac. And Isaac dwelt at Beer-lahai-roi.
Genesis 25:12Now this is the history of the generations of Ishmael, Abraham's son, whom Hagar the Egyptian, Sarah's handmaid, bore to Abraham.And these are the generations of Ishmael, Abraham's son, whom Hagar the Egyptian, Sarah's bondwoman, bore to Abraham.
Genesis 25:13These are the names of the sons of Ishmael, by their names, according to the order of their birth: the firstborn of Ishmael, Nebaioth, then Kedar, Adbeel, Mibsam,And these are the names of the sons of Ishmael by their names according to their generations: Nebaioth, the firstborn of Ishmael; and Kedar, and Adbeel, and Mibsam,
Genesis 25:14Mishma, Dumah, Massa,and Mishma, and Dumah, and Massa,
Genesis 25:15Hadad, Tema, Jetur, Naphish, and Kedemah.Hadad and Tema, Jetur, Naphish and Kedmah.
Genesis 25:16These are the sons of Ishmael, and these are their names, by their villages, and by their encampments: twelve princes, according to their nations.These are the sons of Ishmael, and these are their names, in their hamlets and their encampments twelve princes of their peoples.
Genesis 25:17These are the years of the life of Ishmael: one hundred thirty-seven years. He gave up the spirit and died, and was gathered to his people.And these are the years of the life of Ishmael: a hundred and thirty-seven years; and he expired and died, and was gathered to his peoples.
Genesis 25:18They lived from Havilah to Shur that is before Egypt, as you go toward Assyria. He lived opposite all his relatives.And they dwelt from Havilah to Shur, which is opposite to Egypt, as one goes towards Assyria. He settled before the face of all his brethren.
Genesis 25:19This is the history of the generations of Isaac, Abraham's son. Abraham became the father of Isaac.And these are the generations of Isaac, Abraham's son. Abraham begot Isaac.
Genesis 25:20Isaac was forty years old when he took Rebekah, the daughter of Bethuel the Syrian of Paddan-aram, the sister of Laban the Syrian, to be his wife.And Isaac was forty years old when he took Rebecca as wife, the daughter of Bethuel the Syrian of Padan-Aram, the sister of Laban the Syrian.
Genesis 25:21Isaac entreated Yahweh for his wife, because she was barren. Yahweh was entreated by him, and Rebekah his wife conceived.And Isaac entreated Jehovah for his wife, because she was barren; and Jehovah was entreated of him, and Rebecca his wife conceived.
Genesis 25:22The children struggled together within her. She said, "If it be so, why do I live?" She went to inquire of Yahweh.And the children struggled together within her; and she said, If [it be] so, why am I thus? And she went to inquire of Jehovah.
Genesis 25:23Yahweh said to her, Two nations are in your womb, Two peoples will be separated from your body. The one people will be stronger than the other people. The elder will serve the younger.And Jehovah said to her, Two nations are in thy womb, And two peoples shall be separated from thy bowels; And one people shall be stronger than the other people, And the elder shall serve the younger.
Genesis 25:24When her days to be delivered were fulfilled, behold, there were twins in her womb.And when her days to be delivered were fulfilled, behold, there were twins in her womb.
Genesis 25:25The first came out red all over, like a hairy garment. They named him Esau.And the first came out red all over like a hairy garment; and they called his name Esau.
Genesis 25:26After that, his brother came out, and his hand had hold on Esau's heel. He was named Jacob. Isaac was sixty years old when she bore them.And after that came his brother out; and his hand took hold of Esau's heel; and his name was called Jacob. And Isaac was sixty years old when they were born.
Genesis 25:27The boys grew. Esau was a skillful hunter, a man of the field. Jacob was a quiet man, living in tents.And the boys grew, and Esau became a man skilled in hunting, a man of the field; and Jacob was a homely man, dwelling in tents.
Genesis 25:28Now Isaac loved Esau, because he ate his venison. Rebekah loved Jacob.And Isaac loved Esau, because venison was to his taste; and Rebecca loved Jacob.
Genesis 25:29Jacob boiled stew. Esau came in from the field, and he was famished.And Jacob had cooked a dish; and Esau came from the field, and he was faint.
Genesis 25:30Esau said to Jacob, "Please feed me with that same red stew, for I am famished." Therefore his name was called Edom.And Esau said to Jacob, Feed me, I pray thee, with the red the red thing there, for I am faint. Therefore was his name called Edom.
Genesis 25:31Jacob said, "First, sell me your birthright."And Jacob said, Sell me now thy birthright.
Genesis 25:32Esau said, "Behold, I am about to die. What good is the birthright to me?"And Esau said, Behold, I am going to die, and of what use can the birthright be to me?
Genesis 25:33Jacob said, "Swear to me first." He swore to him. He sold his birthright to Jacob.And Jacob said, Swear unto me now. And he swore unto him, and sold his birthright to Jacob.
Genesis 25:34Jacob gave Esau bread and stew of lentils. He ate and drank, rose up, and went his way. So Esau despised his birthright.And Jacob gave Esau bread and the dish of lentils; and he ate and drank, and rose up and went away. Thus Esau despised the birthright.
