Hebrews 2:1 | Therefore we ought to pay greater attention to the things that were heard, lest perhaps we drift away. | Therefore ought we more diligently to observe the things which we have heard, lest perhaps we should let them slip. | For this reason we should give heed more abundantly to the things [we have] heard, lest in any way we should slip away. |
Hebrews 2:2 | For if the word spoken through angels proved steadfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompense; | For if the word, spoken by angels, became steadfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompense of reward: | For if the word which was spoken by angels was firm, and every transgression and disobedience received just retribution, |
Hebrews 2:3 | how will we escape, if we neglect so great a salvation which at the first having been spoken through the Lord, was confirmed to us by those who heard; | How shall we escape if we neglect so great salvation? which having begun to be declared by the Lord, was confirmed unto us by them that heard him. | how shall *we* escape if we have been negligent of so great salvation, which, having had its commencement in being spoken [of] by the Lord, has been confirmed to us by those who have heard; |
Hebrews 2:4 | God also bearing witness with them, both by signs and wonders, and by various works of power, and by gifts of the Holy Spirit, according to his own will? | God also bearing them witness by signs, and wonders, and divers miracles, and distributions of the Holy Ghost, according to his own will. | God bearing, besides, witness with [them] to [it], both by signs and wonders, and various acts of power, and distributions of [the] Holy Spirit, according to his will? |
Hebrews 2:5 | For he didn't subject the world to come, whereof we speak, to angels. | For God hath not subjected unto angels the world to come, whereof we speak. | For he has not subjected to angels the habitable world which is to come, of which we speak; |
Hebrews 2:6 | But one has somewhere testified, saying, "What is man, that you think of him? Or the son of man, that you care for him? | But one in a certain place hath testified, saying: What is man, that thou art mindful of him: or the son of man, that thou visitest him? | but one has testified somewhere, saying, What is man, that thou rememberest him, or son of man that thou visitest him? |
Hebrews 2:7 | You made him a little lower than the angels; You crowned him with glory and honor. | Thou hast made him a little lower than the angels: thou hast crowned him with glory and honour, and hast set him over the works of thy hands: | Thou hast made him some little inferior to the angels; thou hast crowned him with glory and honour, [and hast set him over the works of thy hands;] |
Hebrews 2:8 | You have put all things in subjection under his feet." For in that he subjected all things to him, he left nothing that is not subject to him. But now we don't see all things subjected to him, yet. | Thou hast subjected all things under his feet. For in that he hath subjected all things to him, he left nothing not subject to him. But now we see not as yet all things subject to him. | thou hast subjected all things under his feet. For in subjecting all things to him, he has left nothing unsubject to him. But now we see not yet all things subjected to *him*, |
Hebrews 2:9 | But we see him who has been made a little lower than the angels, Jesus, because of the suffering of death crowned with glory and honor, that by the grace of God he should taste of death for everyone. | But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels, for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour: that, through the grace of God, he might taste death for all. | but we see Jesus, who [was] made some little inferior to angels on account of the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; so that by the grace of God he should taste death for every thing. |
Hebrews 2:10 | For it became him, for whom are all things, and through whom are all things, in bringing many sons to glory, to make the author of their salvation perfect through sufferings. | For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, who had brought many children into glory, to perfect the author of their salvation, by his passion. | For it became him, for whom [are] all things, and by whom [are] all things, in bringing many sons to glory, to make perfect the leader of their salvation through sufferings. |
Hebrews 2:11 | For both he who sanctifies and those who are sanctified are all from one, for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brothers, | For both he that sanctifieth, and they who are sanctified, are all of one. For which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren, saying: | For both he that sanctifies and those sanctified [are] all of one; for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren, |
Hebrews 2:12 | saying, "I will declare your name to my brothers, In the midst of the congregation will I sing your praise." | I will declare thy name to my brethren; in the midst of the church will I praise thee. | saying, I will declare thy name to my brethren; in [the] midst of [the] assembly will I sing thy praises. |
Hebrews 2:13 | Again, "I will put my trust in him." Again, "Behold, here am I and the children whom God has given me." | And again: I will put my trust in him. And again: Behold I and my children, whom God hath given me. | And again, I will trust in him. And again, Behold, I and the children which God has given me. |
Hebrews 2:14 | Since then the children have shared in flesh and blood, he also himself in like manner partook of the same, that through death he might bring to nothing him who had the power of death, that is, the devil, | Therefore because the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself in like manner hath been partaker of the same: that, through death, he might destroy him who had the empire of death, that is to say, the devil: | Since therefore the children partake of blood and flesh, he also, in like manner, took part in the same, that through death he might annul him who has the might of death, that is, the devil; |
Hebrews 2:15 | and might deliver all of them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage. | And might deliver them, who through the fear of death were all their lifetime subject to servitude. | and might set free all those who through fear of death through the whole of their life were subject to bondage. |
Hebrews 2:16 | For most assuredly, not to angels does he give help, but he gives help to the seed of Abraham. | For no where doth he take hold of the angels: but of the seed of Abraham he taketh hold. | For he does not indeed take hold of angels [by the hand], but he takes hold of the seed of Abraham. |
Hebrews 2:17 | Therefore he was obligated in all things to be made like his brothers, that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make atonement for the sins of the people. | Wherefore it behoved him in all things to be made like unto his brethren, that he might become a merciful and faithful priest before God, that he might be a propitiation for the sins of the people. | Wherefore it behoved him in all things to be made like to [his] brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things relating to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people; |
Hebrews 2:18 | For in that he himself has suffered being tempted, he is able to help those who are tempted. | For in that, wherein he himself hath suffered and been tempted, he is able to succour them also that are tempted. | for, in that himself has suffered, being tempted, he is able to help those that are being tempted. |
