John 15:1 | "I am the true vine, and my Father is the farmer. | If you keep my commandments, you shall abide in my love; as I also have kept my Father's commandments, and do abide in his love. | I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman. |
John 15:2 | Every branch in me that doesn't bear fruit, he takes away. Every branch that bears fruit, he prunes, that it may bear more fruit. | These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and your joy may be filled. | [As to] every branch in me not bearing fruit, he takes it away; and [as to] every one bearing fruit, he purges it that it may bring forth more fruit. |
John 15:3 | You are already pruned clean because of the word which I have spoken to you. | This is my commandment, that you love one another, as I have loved you. | Ye are already clean by reason of the word which I have spoken to you. |
John 15:4 | Remain in me, and I in you. As the branch can't bear fruit by itself, unless it remains in the vine, so neither can you, unless you remain in me. | Greater love than this no man hath, that a man lay down his life for his friends. | Abide in me and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abide in the vine, thus neither [can] ye unless ye abide in me. |
John 15:5 | I am the vine. You are the branches. He who remains in me, and I in him, the same bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing. | You are my friends, if you do the things that I command you. | I am the vine, ye [are] the branches. He that abides in me and I in him, *he* bears much fruit; for without me ye can do nothing. |
John 15:6 | If a man doesn't remain in me, he is thrown out as a branch, and is withered; and they gather them, throw them into the fire, and they are burned. | I will not now call you servants: for the servant knoweth not what his lord doth. But I have called you friends: because all things whatsoever I have heard of my Father, I have made known to you. | Unless any one abide in me he is cast out as the branch, and is dried up; and they gather them and cast them into the fire, and they are burned. |
John 15:7 | If you remain in me, and my words remain in you, you will ask whatever you desire, and it will be done to you. | You have not chosen me: but I have chosen you; and have appointed you, that you should go, and should bring forth fruit; and your fruit should remain: that whatsoever you shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you. | If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will and it shall come to pass to you. |
John 15:8 | In this is my Father glorified, that you bear much fruit; and so you will be my disciples. | These things I command you, that you love one another. | In this is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit, and ye shall become disciples of mine. |
John 15:9 | Even as the Father has loved me, I also have loved you. Remain in my love. | If the world hate you, know ye, that it hath hated me before you. | As the Father has loved me, I also have loved you: abide in my love. |
John 15:10 | If you keep my commandments, you will remain in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and remain in his love. | If you had been of the world, the world would love its own: but because you are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you. | If ye shall keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love, as I have kept my Father's commandments and abide in his love. |
John 15:11 | I have spoken these things to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be made full. | Remember my word that I said to you: The servant is not greater than his master. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you: if they have kept my word, they will keep yours also. | I have spoken these things to you that my joy may be in you, and your joy be full. |
John 15:12 | This is my commandment, that you love one another, even as I have loved you. | But all these things they will do to you for my name's sake: because they know not him who sent me. | This is my commandment, that ye love one another, as I have loved you. |
John 15:13 | Greater love has no one than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. | If I had not come, and spoken to them, they would not have sin; but now they have no excuse for their sin. | No one has greater love than this, that one should lay down his life for his friends. |
John 15:14 | You are my friends, if you do whatever I command you. | He that hateth me, hateth my Father also. | Ye are my friends if ye practise whatever I command you. |
John 15:15 | No longer do I call you servants, for the servant doesn't know what his lord does. But I have called you friends, for everything that I heard from my Father, I have made known to you. | If I had not done among them the works that no other man hath done, they would not have sin; but now they have both seen and hated both me and my Father. | I call you no longer bondmen, for the bondman does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things which I have heard of my Father I have made known to you. |
John 15:16 | You didn't choose me, but I chose you, and appointed you, that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain; that whatever you will ask of the Father in my name, he may give it to you. | But that the word may be fulfilled which is written in their law: They hated me without cause. | Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and have set you that ye should go and [that] ye should bear fruit, and [that] your fruit should abide, that whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name he may give you. |
John 15:17 | I command these things to you, that you may love one another. | But when the Paraclete cometh, whom I will send you from the Father, the Spirit of truth, who proceedeth from the Father, he shall give testimony of me. | These things I command you, that ye love one another. |
John 15:18 | If the world hates you, you know that it has hated me before it hated you. | And you shall give testimony, because you are with me from the beginning. | If the world hate you, know that it has hated me before you. |
John 15:19 | If you were of the world, the world would love its own. But because you are not of the world, since I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. | | If ye were of the world, the world would love its own; but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, on account of this the world hates you. |
John 15:20 | Remember the word that I said to you: 'A servant is not greater than his lord.' If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you. If they kept my word, they will keep yours also. | | Remember the word which I said unto you, The bondman is not greater than his master. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my word, they will keep also yours. |
John 15:21 | But all these things will they do to you for my name's sake, because they don't know him who sent me. | | But they will do all these things to you on account of my name, because they have not known him that sent me. |
John 15:22 | If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not have had sin; but now they have no excuse for their sin. | | If I had not come and spoken to them, they had not had sin; but now they have no excuse for their sin. |
John 15:23 | He who hates me, hates my Father also. | | He that hates me hates also my Father. |
John 15:24 | If I hadn't done among them the works which none other did, they wouldn't have had sin. But now have they seen and also hated both me and my Father. | | If I had not done among them the works which no other one has done, they had not had sin; but now they have both seen and hated both me and my Father. |
John 15:25 | But that the word may be fulfilled that is written in their law, 'They hated me without a cause.' | | But that the word written in their law might be fulfilled, They hated me without a cause. |
John 15:26 | When the Counselor has come, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth, who proceeds from the Father, he will testify about me. | | But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who goes forth from with the Father, *he* shall bear witness concerning me; |
John 15:27 | You will also testify, because you have been with me from the beginning. | | and ye too bear witness, because ye are with me from [the] beginning. |
