| Hebrews 12:1 | Therefore let us also, seeing we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, lay aside every weight and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, | And therefore we also having so great a cloud of witnesses over our head, laying aside every weight and sin which surrounds us, let us run by patience to the fight proposed to us: | Therefore, surrounded as we are by such a vast cloud of witnesses, let us fling aside every encumbrance and the sin that so readily entangles our feet. And let us run with patient endurance the race that lies before us, |
| Hebrews 12:2 | looking to Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. | Looking on Jesus, the author and finisher of faith, who having joy set before him, endured the cross, despising the shame, and now sitteth on the right hand of the throne of God. | simply fixing our gaze upon Jesus, our Prince Leader in the faith, who will also award us the prize. | Hebrews 12:6 | For whom the Lord loves, he chastens, And scourges every son whom he receives." | For whom the Lord loveth, he chastiseth; and he scourgeth every son whom he receiveth. | for those whom the Lord loves He disciplines: and He scourges every son whom He acknowledges." |
| Hebrews 12:7 | It is for discipline that you endure. God deals with you as with sons, for what son is there whom his father doesn't discipline? | Persevere under discipline. God dealeth with you as with his sons; for what son is there, whom the father doth not correct? | The sufferings that you are enduring are for your discipline. God is dealing with you as sons; for what son is there whom his father does not discipline? |
| Hebrews 12:8 | But if you are without discipline, whereof all have been made partakers, then are you illegitimate, and not sons. | But if you be without chastisement, whereof all are made partakers, then are you bastards, and not sons. | And if you are left without discipline, of which every true son has had a share, that shows that you are bastards, and not true sons. |

| Hebrews 12:27 | This phrase, "Yet once more," signifies the removing of those things that are shaken, as of things that have been made, that those things which are not shaken may remain. | And in that he saith, Yet once more, he signifieth the translation of the moveable things as made, that those things may remain which are immoveable. | Here the words "Yet again, once for all" denote the removal of the things which can be shaken created things in order that the things which cannot be shaken may remain. |
