Hebrews 9:1Now indeed even the first covenant had ordinances of divine service, and an earthly sanctuary.Then verily the first covenant had also ordinances of divine service, and a worldly sanctuary. The first therefore also indeed had ordinances of service, and the sanctuary, a worldly one.
Hebrews 9:2For there was a tent prepared, the first, in which were the lampstand, the table, and the show bread; which is called the Holy Place.For there was a tabernacle made; the first, wherein was the candlestick, and the table, and the shewbread; which is called the sanctuary. For a tabernacle was set up; the first, in which [were] both the candlestick and the table and the exposition of the loaves, which is called Holy;
Hebrews 9:3After the second veil, the tent which is called the Holy of Holies,And after the second veil, the tabernacle which is called the Holiest of all; but after the second veil a tabernacle which is called Holy of holies,
Hebrews 9:4having a golden altar of incense, and the ark of the covenant overlaid on all sides with gold, in which was a golden pot holding the manna, Aaron's rod that budded, and the tables of the covenant;Which had the golden censer, and the ark of the covenant overlaid round about with gold, wherein was the golden pot that had manna, and Aaron's rod that budded, and the tables of the covenant; having a golden censer, and the ark of the covenant, covered round in every part with gold, in which [were] the golden pot that had the manna, and the rod of Aaron that had sprouted, and the tables of the covenant;
Hebrews 9:5and above it cherubim of glory overshadowing the mercy seat, of which things we can't now speak in detail.And over it the cherubims of glory shadowing the mercyseat; of which we cannot now speak particularly. and above over it the cherubim of glory shadowing the mercy-seat; concerning which it is not now [the time] to speak in detail.
Hebrews 9:6Now these things having been thus prepared, the priests go in continually into the first tent, accomplishing the services,Now when these things were thus ordained, the priests went always into the first tabernacle, accomplishing the service of God. Now these things being thus ordered, into the first tabernacle the priests enter at all times, accomplishing the services;
Hebrews 9:7but into the second the high priest alone, once in the year, not without blood, which he offers for himself, and for the errors of the people.But into the second went the high priest alone once every year, not without blood, which he offered for himself, and for the errors of the people: but into the second, the high priest only, once a year, not without blood, which he offers for himself and for the errors of the people:
Hebrews 9:8The Holy Spirit is signifying this, that the way into the Holy Place has not yet been revealed, while the first tent is yet standing;The Holy Ghost this signifying, that the way into the holiest of all was not yet made manifest, while as the first tabernacle was yet standing: the Holy Spirit shewing this, that the way of the [holy of] holies has not yet been made manifest while as yet the first tabernacle has [its] standing;
Hebrews 9:9which is an illustration of the present age, where gifts and sacrifices are offered that are incapable, concerning the conscience, of making the worshipper perfect;Which was a figure for the time then present, in which were offered both gifts and sacrifices, that could not make him that did the service perfect, as pertaining to the conscience; the which [is] an image for the present time, according to which both gifts and sacrifices, unable to perfect as to conscience him that worshipped, are offered,
Hebrews 9:10being only (with meats and drinks and various washings) fleshly ordinances, imposed until a time of reformation.Which stood only in meats and drinks, and divers washings, and carnal ordinances, imposed on them until the time of reformation. [consisting] only of meats and drinks and divers washings, ordinances of flesh, imposed until [the] time of setting things right.
Hebrews 9:11But Christ having come as a high priest of the coming good things, through the greater and more perfect tent, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this creation,But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building; But Christ being come high priest of the good things to come, by the better and more perfect tabernacle not made with hand, (that is, not of this creation,)
Hebrews 9:12nor yet through the blood of goats and calves, but through his own blood, entered in once for all into the Holy Place, having obtained eternal redemption.Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us. nor by blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood, has entered in once for all into the [holy of] holies, having found an eternal redemption.
Hebrews 9:13For if the blood of goats and bulls, and the ashes of a heifer sprinkling those who have been defiled, sanctify to the cleanness of the flesh:For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh: For if the blood of goats and bulls, and a heifer's ashes sprinkling the defiled, sanctifies for the purity of the flesh,
Hebrews 9:14how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without blemish to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? how much rather shall the blood of the Christ, who by the eternal Spirit offered himself spotless to God, purify your conscience from dead works to worship [the] living God?
Hebrews 9:15For this cause he is the mediator of a new covenant, that a death having taken place for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first covenant, those who have been called may receive the promise of the eternal inheritance.And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance. And for this reason he is mediator of a new covenant, so that, death having taken place for redemption of the transgressions under the first covenant, the called might receive the promise of the eternal inheritance.
Hebrews 9:16For where a last will and testament is, there must of necessity be the death of him who made it.For where a testament is, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator. (For where [there is] a testament, the death of the testator must needs come in.
Hebrews 9:17For a will is in force where there has been death, for it is never in force while he who made it lives.For a testament is of force after men are dead: otherwise it is of no strength at all while the testator liveth. For a testament [is] of force when men are dead, since it is in no way of force while the testator is alive.)
Hebrews 9:18Therefore even the first covenant has not been dedicated without blood.Whereupon neither the first testament was dedicated without blood. Whence neither the first was inaugurated without blood.
Hebrews 9:19For when every commandment had been spoken by Moses to all the people according to the law, he took the blood of the calves and the goats, with water and scarlet wool and hyssop, and sprinkled both the book itself and all the people,For when Moses had spoken every precept to all the people according to the law, he took the blood of calves and of goats, with water, and scarlet wool, and hyssop, and sprinkled both the book, and all the people, For every commandment having been spoken according to [the] law by Moses to all the people; having taken the blood of calves and goats, with water and scarlet wool and hyssop, he sprinkled both the book itself and all the people,
Hebrews 9:20saying, "This is the blood of the covenant which God commanded toward you."Saying, This is the blood of the testament which God hath enjoined unto you. saying, This [is] the blood of the covenant which God has enjoined to you.
Hebrews 9:21Moreover he sprinkled the tent and all the vessels of the ministry in like manner with the blood.Moreover he sprinkled with blood both the tabernacle, and all the vessels of the ministry. And the tabernacle too and all the vessels of service he sprinkled in like manner with blood;
Hebrews 9:22According to the law, nearly everything is cleansed with blood, and apart from shedding of blood there is no remission.And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission. and almost all things are purified with blood according to the law, and without blood-shedding there is no remission.
Hebrews 9:23It was necessary therefore that the copies of the things in the heavens should be cleansed with these; but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these.It was therefore necessary that the patterns of things in the heavens should be purified with these; but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these. [It was] necessary then that the figurative representations of the things in the heavens should be purified with these; but the heavenly things themselves with sacrifices better than these.
Hebrews 9:24For Christ entered not into a holy place made with hands, similar in pattern to the true, but into heaven itself, now to appear before the face of God for us;For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us: For the Christ is not entered into holy places made with hand, figures of the true, but into heaven itself, now to appear before the face of God for us:
Hebrews 9:25nor yet that he should offer himself often, as the high priest enters into the holy place year by year with blood not his own,Nor yet that he should offer himself often, as the high priest entereth into the holy place every year with blood of others; nor in order that he should offer himself often, as the high priest enters into the holy places every year with blood not his own;
Hebrews 9:26or else he must have suffered often since the foundation of the world. But now once at the end of the ages, he has been revealed to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself. since he had [then] been obliged often to suffer from the foundation of the world. But now once in the consummation of the ages he has been manifested for [the] putting away of sin by his sacrifice.
Hebrews 9:27Inasmuch as it is appointed for men to die once, and after this, judgment,And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: And forasmuch as it is the portion of men once to die, and after this judgment;
Hebrews 9:28so Christ also, having been once offered to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, without sin, to those who are eagerly waiting for him for salvation.So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation. thus the Christ also, having been once offered to bear the sins of many, shall appear to those that look for him the second time without sin for salvation.
