Amos 6:1 | Woe to those who are at ease in Zion, and to those who are secure in the mountain of Samaria, the notable men of the chief of the nations, to whom the house of Israel come! | Woe to them that are at ease in Zion, and trust in the mountain of Samaria, which are named chief of the nations, to whom the house of Israel came! | Woe to you that are wealthy in Sion, and to you that have confidence in the mountain of Samaria: ye great men, heads of the people, that go in with state into the house of Israel. |
Amos 6:2 | Pass you to Calneh, and see; and from there go you to Hamath the great; then go down to Gath of the Philistines: are they better than these kingdoms? or is their border greater than your border? | Pass ye unto Calneh, and see; and from thence go ye to Hamath the great: then go down to Gath of the Philistines: be they better than these kingdoms? or their border greater than your border? | Pass ye over to Chalane, and see, and go from thence into Emath the great: and go down into Geth of the Philistines, and to all the best kingdoms of these: if their border be larger than your border. |
Amos 6:3 | -you who put far away the evil day, and cause the seat of violence to come near; | Ye that put far away the evil day, and cause the seat of violence to come near; | You that are separated unto the evil day: and that approach to the throne of iniquity; |
Amos 6:4 | who lie on beds of ivory, and stretch themselves on their couches, and eat the lambs out of the flock, and the calves out of the midst of the stall; | That lie upon beds of ivory, and stretch themselves upon their couches, and eat the lambs out of the flock, and the calves out of the midst of the stall; | You that sleep upon beds of ivory, and are wanton on your couches: that eat the lambs out of the flock, and the calves out of the midst of the herd; |
Amos 6:5 | who sing idle songs to the sound of the violin; who invent for themselves instruments of music, like David; | That chant to the sound of the viol, and invent to themselves instruments of musick, like David; | You that sing to the sound of the psaltery: they have thought themselves to have instruments of music like David; |
Amos 6:6 | who drink wine in bowls, and anoint themselves with the chief oils; but they are not grieved for the affliction of Joseph. | That drink wine in bowls, and anoint themselves with the chief ointments: but they are not grieved for the affliction of Joseph. | That drink wine in bowls, and anoint themselves with the best ointments: and they are not concerned for the affliction of Joseph. |
Amos 6:7 | Therefore shall they now go captive with the first who go captive; and the revelry of those who stretched themselves shall pass away. | Therefore now shall they go captive with the first that go captive, and the banquet of them that stretched themselves shall be removed. | Wherefore now they shall go captive at the head of them that go into captivity: and the faction of the luxurious ones shall be taken away. |
Amos 6:8 | The Lord Yahweh has sworn by himself, says Yahweh, the God of hosts: I abhor the excellency of Jacob, and hate his palaces; therefore will I deliver up the city with all that is therein. | The Lord GOD hath sworn by himself, saith the LORD the God of hosts, I abhor the excellency of Jacob, and hate his palaces: therefore will I deliver up the city with all that is therein. | The Lord God hath sworn by his own soul, saith the Lord the God of hosts: I detest the pride of Jacob, and I hate his houses, and I will deliver up the city with the inhabitants thereof. |

Amos 6:13 | you who rejoice in a thing of nothing, who say, Haven't we taken to us horns by our own strength? | Ye which rejoice in a thing of nought, which say, Have we not taken to us horns by our own strength? | Can horses run upon the rocks, or can any one plough with buffles? for you have turned judgment into bitterness, and the fruit of justice into wormwood. |
Amos 6:14 | For, behold, I will raise up against you a nation, house of Israel, says Yahweh, the God of hosts; and they shall afflict you from the entrance of Hamath to the brook of the Arabah. | But, behold, I will raise up against you a nation, O house of Israel, saith the LORD the God of hosts; and they shall afflict you from the entering in of Hamath unto the river of the wilderness. | You that rejoice in a thing of nought: you that say: Have we not taken unto us horns by our own strength? |
