John 16:1"These things have I spoken to you, so that you wouldn't be caused to stumble. These things have I spoken unto you, that ye should not be offended. These things have I spoken to you, that you may not be scandalized.
John 16:2They will put you out of the synagogues. Yes, the time comes that whoever kills you will think that he offers service to God.They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the time cometh, that whosoever killeth you will think that he doeth God service. They will put you out of the synagogues: yea, the hour cometh, that whosoever killeth you, will think that he doth a service to God.
John 16:3They will do these things because they have not known the Father, nor me.And these things will they do unto you, because they have not known the Father, nor me. And these things will they do to you; because they have not known the Father, nor me.
John 16:4But I have told you these things, so that when the time comes, you may remember that I told you about them. I didn't tell you these things from the beginning, because I was with you.But these things have I told you, that when the time shall come, ye may remember that I told you of them. And these things I said not unto you at the beginning, because I was with you. But these things I have told you, that when the hour shall come, you may remember that I told you of them.
John 16:5But now I am going to him who sent me, and none of you asks me, 'Where are you going?'But now I go my way to him that sent me; and none of you asketh me, Whither goest thou? But I told you not these things from the beginning, because I was with you. And now I go to him that sent me, and none of you asketh me: Whither goest thou?
John 16:6But because I have told you these things, sorrow has filled your heart. But because I have said these things unto you, sorrow hath filled your heart. But because I have spoken these things to you, sorrow hath filled your heart.
John 16:7Nevertheless I tell you the truth: It is to your advantage that I go away, for if I don't go away, the Counselor won't come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you.Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. But I tell you the truth: it is expedient to you that I go: for if I go not, the Paraclete will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you.
John 16:8When he has come, he will convict the world in respect to sin, and righteousness, and judgment; And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: And when he is come, he will convince the world of sin, and of justice, and of judgment.
John 16:9of sin, because they don't believe in me;Of sin, because they believe not on me; Of sin: because they believed not in me.
John 16:10of righteousness, because I am going to my Father, and you see me no more;Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more; And of justice: because I go to the Father; and you shall see me no longer.
John 16:11of judgment, because the prince of this world has been judged.Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged. And of judgment: because the prince of this world is already judged.
John 16:12I have yet many things to tell you, but you can't bear them now.I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. I have yet many things to say to you: but you cannot bear them now.
John 16:13However when he, the Spirit of truth, has come, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak from himself; but whatever things he hears, he will speak. He will declare to you the things that are to come.Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. But when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will teach you all truth. For he shall not speak of himself; but what things soever he shall hear, he shall speak; and the things that are to come, he shall shew you.
John 16:14He will glorify me, for he will take from what is mine, and will declare it to you.He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you. He shall glorify me; because he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it to you.
John 16:15All things whatever the Father has are mine; therefore I said that he takes of mine, and will declare it to you.All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you. All things whatsoever the Father hath, are mine. Therefore I said, that he shall receive of mine, and shew it to you.
John 16:16A little while, and you will not see me. Again a little while, and you will see me."A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me, because I go to the Father. A little while, and now you shall not see me; and again a little while, and you shall see me: because I go to the Father.
John 16:17Some of his disciples therefore said to one another, "What is this that he says to us, 'A little while, and you won't see me, and again a little while, and you will see me;' and, 'Because I go to the Father?'"Then said some of his disciples among themselves, What is this that he saith unto us, A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me: and, Because I go to the Father? Then some of the disciples said one to another: What is this that he saith to us: A little while, and you shall not see me; and again a little while, and you shall see me, and, because I go to the Father?
John 16:18They said therefore, "What is this that he says, 'A little while?' We don't know what he is saying."They said therefore, What is this that he saith, A little while? we cannot tell what he saith. They said therefore: What is this that he saith, A little while? we know not what he speaketh.
John 16:19Therefore Jesus perceived that they wanted to ask him, and he said to them, "Do you inquire among yourselves concerning this, that I said, 'A little while, and you won't see me, and again a little while, and you will see me?'Now Jesus knew that they were desirous to ask him, and said unto them, Do ye enquire among yourselves of that I said, A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me? And Jesus knew that they had a mind to ask him; and he said to them: Of this do you inquire among yourselves, because I said: A little while, and you shall not see me; and again a little while, and you shall see me?
John 16:20Most assuredly I tell you, that you will weep and lament, but the world will rejoice. You will be sorrowful, but your sorrow will be turned into joy.Verily, verily, I say unto you, That ye shall weep and lament, but the world shall rejoice: and ye shall be sorrowful, but your sorrow shall be turned into joy. Amen, amen I say to you, that you shall lament and weep, but the world shall rejoice; and you shall be made sorrowful, but your sorrow shall be turned into joy.
John 16:21A woman, when she is in travail, has sorrow, because her time has come. But when she has delivered the child, she doesn't remember the anguish any more, for the joy that a child is born into the world.A woman when she is in travail hath sorrow, because her hour is come: but as soon as she is delivered of the child, she remembereth no more the anguish, for joy that a man is born into the world. A woman, when she is in labour, hath sorrow, because her hour is come; but when she hath brought forth the child, she remembereth no more the anguish, for joy that a man is born into the world.
John 16:22You therefore now have sorrow, but I will see you again, and your heart will rejoice, and no one will take your joy away from you.And ye now therefore have sorrow: but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no man taketh from you. So also you now indeed have sorrow; but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice; and your joy no man shall take from you.
John 16:23In that day you will ask me no question. Most assuredly I tell you, whatever you may ask of the Father, he will give it to you in my name. And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you. And in that day you shall not ask me any thing. Amen, amen I say to you: if you ask the Father any thing in my name, he will give it you.
John 16:24Until now, you have asked nothing in my name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be made full.Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full. Hitherto you have not asked any thing in my name. Ask, and you shall receive; that your joy may be full.
John 16:25I have spoken these things to you in figures of speech. But the time comes when I will no more speak to you in figures of speech, but will tell you plainly about the Father. These things have I spoken unto you in proverbs: but the time cometh, when I shall no more speak unto you in proverbs, but I shall shew you plainly of the Father. These things I have spoken to you in proverbs. The hour cometh, when I will no more speak to you in proverbs, but will shew you plainly of the Father.
John 16:26In that day you will ask in my name; and I don't say to you, that I will pray to the Father for you,At that day ye shall ask in my name: and I say not unto you, that I will pray the Father for you: In that day you shall ask in my name; and I say not to you, that I will ask the Father for you:
John 16:27for the Father himself loves you, because you have loved me, and have believed that I came forth from God.For the Father himself loveth you, because ye have loved me, and have believed that I came out from God. For the Father himself loveth you, because you have loved me, and have believed that I came out from God.
John 16:28I came out from the Father, and have come into the world. Again, I leave the world, and go to the Father."I came forth from the Father, and am come into the world: again, I leave the world, and go to the Father. I came forth from the Father, and am come into the world: again I leave the world, and I go to the Father.
John 16:29His disciples said to him, "Behold, now you speak plainly, and speak no figures of speech. His disciples said unto him, Lo, now speakest thou plainly, and speakest no proverb. His disciples say to him: Behold, now thou speakest plainly, and speakest no proverb.
John 16:30Now we know that you know all things, and don't need for anyone to question you. By this we believe that you came forth from God."Now are we sure that thou knowest all things, and needest not that any man should ask thee: by this we believe that thou camest forth from God. Now we know that thou knowest all things, and thou needest not that any man should ask thee. By this we believe that thou camest forth from God.
John 16:31Jesus answered them, "Do you now believe?Jesus answered them, Do ye now believe? Jesus answered them: Do you now believe?
John 16:32Behold, the time comes, yes, has now come, that you will be scattered, everyone to his own place, and will leave me alone. Yet I am not alone, because the Father is with me.Behold, the hour cometh, yea, is now come, that ye shall be scattered, every man to his own, and shall leave me alone: and yet I am not alone, because the Father is with me. Behold, the hour cometh, and it is now come, that you shall be scattered every man to his own, and shall leave me alone; and yet I am not alone, because the Father is with me.
John 16:33I have told you these things, that in me you may have peace. In the world you have oppression; but cheer up! I have overcome the world."These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. These things I have spoken to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you shall have distress: but have confidence, I have overcome the world.
