| Romans 9:1 | I tell the truth in Christ. I am not lying, my conscience testifying with me in the Holy Spirit, | I say the truth in Christ, I lie not, my conscience also bearing me witness in the Holy Ghost, | And not only she. But when Rebecca also had conceived at once, of Isaac our father. |
| Romans 9:2 | that I have great sorrow and unceasing pain in my heart. | That I have great heaviness and continual sorrow in my heart. | For when the children were not yet born, nor had done any good or evil (that the purpose of God, according to election, might stand,) |
| Romans 9:3 | For I could wish that I myself were accursed from Christ for my brothers' sake, my relatives according to the flesh, | For I could wish that myself were accursed from Christ for my brethren, my kinsmen according to the flesh: | Not of works, but of him that calleth, it was said to her: The elder shall serve the younger. |
| Romans 9:4 | who are Israelites; whose is the adoption, the glory, the covenants, the giving of the law, the service, and the promises; | Who are Israelites; to whom pertaineth the adoption, and the glory, and the covenants, and the giving of the law, and the service of God, and the promises; | As it is written: Jacob I have loved, but Esau I have hated. |
| Romans 9:5 | whose are the fathers, and of whom is Christ as concerning the flesh, who is over all, God, blessed forever. Amen. | Whose are the fathers, and of whom as concerning the flesh Christ came, who is over all, God blessed for ever. Amen. | What shall we say then? Is there injustice with God? God forbid. |

Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it: Why hast thou made me thus? |
| Romans 9:12 | it was said to her, "The elder will serve the younger." | It was said unto her, The elder shall serve the younger. | Or hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump, to make one vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonour? |

For who hath resisted his will? | For he shall finish his word, and cut it short in justice; because a short word shall the Lord make upon the earth. |

Will the thing formed ask him who formed it, "Why did you make me like this?" | Nay but, O man, who art thou that repliest against God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, Why hast thou made me thus? | And as Isaias foretold: Unless the Lord of Sabaoth had left us a seed, we had been made as Sodom, and we had been like unto Gomorrha. |
| Romans 9:21 | Or hasn't the potter a right over the clay, from the same lump to make one part a vessel for honor, and another for dishonor? | Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonour? | What then shall we say? That the Gentiles, who followed not after justice, have attained to justice, even the justice that is of faith. |

| Romans 9:30 | What will we say then? That the Gentiles, who didn't follow after righteousness, attained to righteousness, even the righteousness which is of faith; | What shall we say then? That the Gentiles, which followed not after righteousness, have attained to righteousness, even the righteousness which is of faith. | |
| Romans 9:31 | but Israel, following after a law of righteousness, didn't arrive at the law of righteousness. | But Israel, which followed after the law of righteousness, hath not attained to the law of righteousness. | |
| Romans 9:32 | Why? Because they didn't seek it by faith, but as it were by works of the law. They stumbled over the stumbling stone; | Wherefore? Because they sought it not by faith, but as it were by the works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumblingstone; | |
| Romans 9:33 | even as it is written, "Behold, I lay in Zion a stone of stumbling and a rock of offense. And no one who believes in him will be put to shame." | As it is written, Behold, I lay in Sion a stumblingstone and rock of offence: and whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. | |
