Genesis 11:6Yahweh said, "Behold, they are one people, and they have all one language; and this is what they begin to do. Now nothing will be withheld from them, which they intend to do.And the LORD said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do.
Genesis 11:7Come, let's go down, and there confuse their language, that they may not understand one another's speech."Go to, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another's speech.
Genesis 11:8So Yahweh scattered them abroad from there on the surface of all the earth. They stopped building the city.So the LORD scattered them abroad from thence upon the face of all the earth: and they left off to build the city.
Genesis 11:9Therefore the name of it was called Babel, because Yahweh confused the language of all the earth, there. From there, Yahweh scattered them abroad on the surface of all the earth. Therefore is the name of it called Babel; because the LORD did there confound the language of all the earth: and from thence did the LORD scatter them abroad upon the face of all the earth.
