Titus 3:1Remind them to be in subjection to rulers and to authorities, to be obedient, to be ready to every good work,Put them in mind to be subject to principalities and powers, to obey magistrates, to be ready to every good work, Remind people that they must submit to the rulers who are in authority over them; that they must obey the magistrates, be prepared for every right action,
Titus 3:2to speak evil of no one, not to be contentious, to be gentle, showing all gentleness toward all men.To speak evil of no man, to be no brawlers, but gentle, shewing all meekness unto all men. not speak evil of any one, nor be contentious, but yield unselfishly to others and constantly manifest a forgiving spirit towards all men.
Titus 3:3For we were also once foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving various lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another.For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another. For there was a time when we also were deficient in understanding, obstinate, deluded, the slaves of various cravings and pleasures, spending our lives in malice and envy, hateful ourselves and hating one another.
Titus 3:4But when the kindness of God, our Savior, and his love toward man, appeared,But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, But when the goodness of God our Saviour, and His love to man, dawned upon us, not in consequence of things which we,
Titus 3:5not by works of righteousness, which we did ourselves, but according to his mercy, he saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit,Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; as righteous men, had done, but as the result of His own mercy He saved us by means of the bath of regeneration and the renewal of our natures by the Holy Spirit,
Titus 3:6which he poured out on us richly, through Jesus Christ, our Savior;Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour; which He poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Saviour;
Titus 3:7that, being justified by his grace, we might be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life. in order that having been declared righteous through His grace we might become heirs to the Life of the Ages in fulfilment of our hopes.
Titus 3:8This saying is faithful, and concerning these things I desire that you affirm confidently, to the end that they who have believed God may be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable to men;This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable unto men. This is a faithful saying, and on these various points I would have you insist strenuously, in order that those who have their faith fixed on God may be careful to set an example of good actions. For these are not only good in themselves, but are also useful to mankind.
Titus 3:9but shun foolish questionings, genealogies, strife, and disputes about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain.But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain. But hold yourself aloof from foolish controversies and pedigrees and discussions and wrangling about the Law, for they are useless and vain.
Titus 3:10Avoid a factious man after a first and second warning;A man that is an heretick after the first and second admonition reject; After a first and second admonition, have nothing further to do with any one who will not be taught;
Titus 3:11knowing that such a one is perverted, and sins, being self-condemned.Knowing that he that is such is subverted, and sinneth, being condemned of himself. for, as you know, a man of that description has turned aside from the right path and is a sinner self-condemned.
Titus 3:12When I send Artemas to you, or Tychicus, be diligent to come to me to Nicopolis, for I have determined to winter there.When I shall send Artemas unto thee, or Tychicus, be diligent to come unto me to Nicopolis: for I have determined there to winter. After I have sent Artemas or Tychicus to you, lose no time in joining me at Nicopolis; for I have decided to pass the winter there.
Titus 3:13Send Zenas, the lawyer, and Apollos on their journey diligently, that nothing may be lacking for them.Bring Zenas the lawyer and Apollos on their journey diligently, that nothing be wanting unto them. Help Zenas the lawyer forward on his journey with special care, and Apollos, so that they may have all they require.
Titus 3:14Let our people also learn to maintain good works for necessary uses, that they may not be unfruitful.And let ours also learn to maintain good works for necessary uses, that they be not unfruitful. And let our people too learn to set a good example in following honest occupations for the supply of their necessities, so that they may not live useless lives.
Titus 3:15All who are with me greet you. Greet those who love us in faith. Grace be with you all. Amen.All that are with me salute thee. Greet them that love us in the faith. Grace be with you all.
