John 16:1 | "These things have I spoken to you, so that you wouldn't be caused to stumble. | These things have I spoken to you, that ye should not be offended. | These things I have spoken unto you that ye may not be offended. |
John 16:2 | They will put you out of the synagogues. Yes, the time comes that whoever kills you will think that he offers service to God. | They shall put you out of the synagogues: yes, the time cometh, that whoever killeth you, will think that he doeth God service. | They shall put you out of the synagogues; but the hour is coming that every one who kills you will think to render service to God; |
John 16:3 | They will do these things because they have not known the Father, nor me. | And these things will they do to you, because they have not known the Father, nor me. | and these things they will do because they have not known the Father nor me. |
John 16:4 | But I have told you these things, so that when the time comes, you may remember that I told you about them. I didn't tell you these things from the beginning, because I was with you. | But these things have I told you, that when the time shall come, ye may remember that I told you of them. And these things I said not to you at the beginning, because I was with you. | But I have spoken these things to you, that when their hour shall have come, ye may remember them, that I have said [them] unto you. But I did not say these things unto you from [the] beginning, because I was with you. |
John 16:5 | But now I am going to him who sent me, and none of you asks me, 'Where are you going?' | But now I go to him that sent me, and none of you asketh me, Whither goest thou? | But now I go to him that has sent me, and none of you demands of me, Where goest thou? |
John 16:6 | But because I have told you these things, sorrow has filled your heart. | But because I have said these things to you, sorrow hath filled your heart. | But because I have spoken these things to you, sorrow has filled your heart. |
John 16:7 | Nevertheless I tell you the truth: It is to your advantage that I go away, for if I don't go away, the Counselor won't come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you. | Nevertheless, I tell you the truth: It is expedient for you that I depart; for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send him to you. | But I say the truth to you, It is profitable for you that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Comforter will not come to you; but if I go I will send him to you. |
John 16:8 | When he has come, he will convict the world in respect to sin, and righteousness, and judgment; | And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: | And having come, he will bring demonstration to the world, of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: |
John 16:9 | of sin, because they don't believe in me; | Of sin, because they believe not on me; | of sin, because they do not believe on me; |
John 16:10 | of righteousness, because I am going to my Father, and you see me no more; | Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more; | of righteousness, because I go away to [my] Father, and ye behold me no longer; |
John 16:11 | of judgment, because the prince of this world has been judged. | Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged. | of judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged. |
John 16:12 | I have yet many things to tell you, but you can't bear them now. | I have yet many things to say to you, but ye cannot bear them now. | I have yet many things to say to you, but ye cannot bear them now. |
John 16:13 | However when he, the Spirit of truth, has come, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak from himself; but whatever things he hears, he will speak. He will declare to you the things that are to come. | But, when he, the Spirit of truth is come, he will guide you into all the truth: for he will not speak from himself; but whatever he shall hear, that will he speak: and he will show you things to come. | But when *he* is come, the Spirit of truth, he shall guide you into all the truth: for he shall not speak from himself; but whatsoever he shall hear he shall speak; and he will announce to you what is coming. |
John 16:14 | He will glorify me, for he will take from what is mine, and will declare it to you. | He will glorify me: for he will receive of mine, and will show it to you. | He shall glorify me, for he shall receive of mine and shall announce [it] to you. |
John 16:15 | All things whatever the Father has are mine; therefore I said that he takes of mine, and will declare it to you. | All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore I said, that he will take of mine, and show it to you. | All things that the Father has are mine; on account of this I have said that he receives of mine and shall announce [it] to you. |
John 16:16 | A little while, and you will not see me. Again a little while, and you will see me." | A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me, because I go to the Father. | A little while and ye do not behold me; and again a little while and ye shall see me, [because I go away to the Father]. |
John 16:17 | Some of his disciples therefore said to one another, "What is this that he says to us, 'A little while, and you won't see me, and again a little while, and you will see me;' and, 'Because I go to the Father?'" | Then said some of his disciples among themselves, What is this that he saith to us, A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me: and, Because I go to the Father? | [Some] of his disciples therefore said to one another, What is this he says to us, A little while and ye do not behold me; and again a little while and ye shall see me, and, Because I go away to the Father? |
John 16:18 | They said therefore, "What is this that he says, 'A little while?' We don't know what he is saying." | They said therefore, What is this that he saith, A little while? we cannot tell what he saith. | They said therefore, What is this which he says [of] the little while? We do not know [of] what he speaks. |
John 16:19 | Therefore Jesus perceived that they wanted to ask him, and he said to them, "Do you inquire among yourselves concerning this, that I said, 'A little while, and you won't see me, and again a little while, and you will see me?' | Now Jesus knew that they were desirous to ask him, and said to them, Do ye inquire among yourselves of that which I said, A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me? | Jesus knew therefore that they desired to demand of him, and said to them, Do ye inquire of this among yourselves that I said, A little while and ye do not behold me; and again a little while and ye shall see me? |
John 16:20 | Most assuredly I tell you, that you will weep and lament, but the world will rejoice. You will be sorrowful, but your sorrow will be turned into joy. | Verily, verily, I say to you, that ye will weep and lament, but the world will rejoice: and ye will be sorrowful, but your sorrow shall be turned into joy. | Verily, verily, I say to you, that ye shall weep and lament, ye, but the world shall rejoice; and ye will be grieved, but your grief shall be turned to joy. |
John 16:21 | A woman, when she is in travail, has sorrow, because her time has come. But when she has delivered the child, she doesn't remember the anguish any more, for the joy that a child is born into the world. | A woman when she is in travail hath sorrow, because her hour is come: but as soon as she is delivered of the child, she remembereth no more the anguish, for joy that a man is born into the world. | A woman, when she gives birth to a child, has grief because her hour has come; but when the child is born, she no longer remembers the trouble, on account of the joy that a man has been born into the world. |
John 16:22 | You therefore now have sorrow, but I will see you again, and your heart will rejoice, and no one will take your joy away from you. | And ye now therefore have sorrow: but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no man taketh from you. | And ye now therefore have grief; but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no one takes from you. |
John 16:23 | In that day you will ask me no question. Most assuredly I tell you, whatever you may ask of the Father, he will give it to you in my name. | And in that day ye will ask me nothing: Verily, verily, I say to you, Whatever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you. | And in that day ye shall demand nothing of me: verily, verily, I say to you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give you. |
John 16:24 | Until now, you have asked nothing in my name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be made full. | Hitherto ye have asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full. | Hitherto ye have asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full. |
John 16:25 | I have spoken these things to you in figures of speech. But the time comes when I will no more speak to you in figures of speech, but will tell you plainly about the Father. | These things have I spoken to you in proverbs: but the time cometh when I shall no more speak to you in proverbs, but I shall show you plainly concerning the Father. | These things I have spoken to you in allegories; the hour is coming that I will no longer speak to you in allegories, but will declare to you openly concerning the Father. |
John 16:26 | In that day you will ask in my name; and I don't say to you, that I will pray to the Father for you, | At that day ye will ask in my name: and I say not to you, that I will pray the Father for you: | In that day ye shall ask in my name; and I say not to you that I will demand of the Father for you, |
John 16:27 | for the Father himself loves you, because you have loved me, and have believed that I came forth from God. | For the Father himself loveth you, because ye have loved me, and have believed that I came from God. | for the Father himself has affection for you, because ye have had affection for me, and have believed that I came out from God. |
John 16:28 | I came out from the Father, and have come into the world. Again, I leave the world, and go to the Father." | I came forth from the Father, and am come into the world: again, I leave the world, and go to the Father. | I came out from the Father and have come into the world; again, I leave the world and go to the Father. |
John 16:29 | His disciples said to him, "Behold, now you speak plainly, and speak no figures of speech. | His disciples said to him, Lo, now speakest thou plainly, and speakest no proverb. | His disciples say to him, Lo, now thou speakest openly and utterest no allegory. |
John 16:30 | Now we know that you know all things, and don't need for anyone to question you. By this we believe that you came forth from God." | Now are we sure that thou knowest all things, and needest not that any man should ask thee: by this we believe that thou camest from God. | Now we know that thou knowest all things, and hast not need that any one should demand of thee. By this we believe that thou art come from God. |
John 16:31 | Jesus answered them, "Do you now believe? | Jesus answered them, Do ye now believe? | Jesus answered them, Do ye now believe? |
John 16:32 | Behold, the time comes, yes, has now come, that you will be scattered, everyone to his own place, and will leave me alone. Yet I am not alone, because the Father is with me. | Behold, the hour cometh, and is even now come, that ye shall be scattered every man to his own, and shall leave me alone: and yet I am not alone, because the Father is with me. | Behold, [the] hour is coming, and has come, that ye shall be scattered, each to his own, and shall leave me alone; and [yet] I am not alone, for the Father is with me. |
John 16:33 | I have told you these things, that in me you may have peace. In the world you have oppression; but cheer up! I have overcome the world." | These things I have spoken to you, that in me ye may have peace. In the world ye will have tribulation, but be of good cheer: I have overcome the world. | These things have I spoken to you that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye have tribulation; but be of good courage: I have overcome the world. |
