Ephesians 5:1Be therefore imitators of God, as beloved children.Therefore be imitators of God, as His dear children.Be ye therefore followers of God, as most dear children;
Ephesians 5:2Walk in love, even as Christ also loved you, and gave himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling fragrance.And live and act lovingly, as Christ also loved you and gave Himself up to death on our behalf as an offering and sacrifice to God, yielding a fragrant odor.And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath delivered himself for us, an oblation and a sacrifice to God for an odour of sweetness.
Ephesians 5:3But sexual immorality, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not even be mentioned among you, as becomes saints;But fornication and every kind of impurity, or covetousness, let them not even be mentioned among you, for they ought not to be named among God's people.But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not so much as be named among you, as becometh saints:
Ephesians 5:4nor filthiness, nor foolish talking, or jesting, which are not appropriate; but rather giving of thanks.Avoid shameful and foolish talk and low jesting they are all alike discreditable and in place of these give thanks.Or obscenity, or foolish talking, or scurrility, which is to no purpose; but rather giving of thanks.
Ephesians 5:5Know this for sure, that no sexually immoral person, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God.For be well assured that no fornicator or immoral person and no money-grubber or in other words idol-worshipper has any share awaiting him in the Kingdom of Christ and of God.For know you this and understand, that no fornicator, or unclean, or covetous person (which is a serving of idols), hath inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.
Ephesians 5:6Let no man deceive you with empty words. For because of these things, the wrath of God comes on the sons of disobedience.Let no one deceive you with empty words, for it is on account of these very sins that God's anger is coming upon the disobedient.Let no man deceive you with vain words. For because of these things cometh the anger of God upon the children of unbelief.
Ephesians 5:7Don't be therefore partakers with them.Therefore do not become sharers with them.Be ye not therefore partakers with them.
Ephesians 5:8For you were once darkness, but are now light in the Lord. Walk as children of light,There was a time when you were nothing but darkness. Now, as Christians, you are Light itself.For you were heretofore darkness, but now light in the Lord. Walk then as children of the light.
Ephesians 5:9for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth,Live and act as sons of Light for the effect of the Light is seen in every kind of goodness, uprightness and truthFor the fruit of the light is in all goodness, and justice, and truth;
Ephesians 5:10proving what is well-pleasing to the Lord.and learn in your own experiences what is fully pleasing to the Lord.Proving what is well pleasing to God:
Ephesians 5:11Have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather even reprove them.Have nothing to do with the barren unprofitable deeds of darkness, but, instead of that, set your faces against them;And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.
Ephesians 5:12For the things which are done by them in secret, it is a shame even to speak of.for the things which are done by these people in secret it is disgraceful even to speak of.For the things that are done by them in secret, it is a shame even to speak of.
Ephesians 5:13But all things, when they are reproved, are revealed by the light, for everything that is revealed is light.But everything can be tested by the light and thus be shown in its true colors; for whatever shines of itself is light.But all things that are reproved, are made manifest by the light; for all that is made manifest is light.
Ephesians 5:14Therefore he says, "Awake, you who sleep, and arise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you."For this reason it is said, "Rise, sleeper; rise from among the dead, and Christ will shed light upon you."Wherefore he saith: Rise thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead: and Christ shall enlighten thee.
Ephesians 5:15Therefore watch carefully how you walk, not as unwise, but as wise;Therefore be very careful how you live and act. Let it not be as unwise men, but as wise.See therefore, brethren, how you walk circumspectly: not as unwise,
Ephesians 5:16redeeming the time, because the days are evil.Buy up your opportunities, for these are evil times.But as wise: redeeming the time, because the days are evil.
Ephesians 5:17Therefore don't be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.On this account do not prove yourselves wanting in sense, but try to understand what the Lord's will is.Wherefore become not unwise, but understanding what is the will of God.
Ephesians 5:18Don't be drunken with wine, in which is an abandoned life, but be filled with the Spirit,Do not over-indulge in wine a thing in which excess is so easyAnd be not drunk with wine, wherein is luxury; but be ye filled with the holy Spirit,
Ephesians 5:19speaking to one another in psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs; singing, and singing praises in your heart to the Lord;but drink deeply of God's Spirit. Speak to one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs. Sing and offer praise in your hearts to the Lord.Speaking to yourselves in psalms, and hymns, and spiritual canticles, singing and making melody in your hearts to the Lord;
Ephesians 5:20giving thanks always for all things in the name of our Lord, Jesus Christ, to God, even the Father;Always and for everything let your thanks to God the Father be presented in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;Giving thanks always for all things, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, to God and the Father:
Ephesians 5:21subjecting yourselves one to another in the fear of Christ.and submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.Being subject one to another, in the fear of Christ.
Ephesians 5:22Wives, be subject to your own husbands, as to the Lord.Married women, submit to your own husbands as if to the Lord;Let women be subject to their husbands, as to the Lord:
Ephesians 5:23For the husband is the head of the wife, and Christ also is the head of the assembly, being himself the savior of the body.because a husband is the Head of his wife as Christ also is the Head of the Church, being indeed the Saviour of this His Body.Because the husband is the head of the wife, as Christ is the head of the church. He is the saviour of his body.
Ephesians 5:24But as the assembly is subject to Christ, so let the wives also be to their husbands in everything.And just as the Church submits to Christ, so also married women should be entirely submissive to their husbands.Therefore as the church is subject to Christ, so also let the wives be to their husbands in all things.
Ephesians 5:25Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the assembly, and gave himself up for it;Married men, love your wives, as Christ also loved the Church and gave Himself up to death for her;Husbands, love your wives, as Christ also loved the church, and delivered himself up for it:
Ephesians 5:26that he might sanctify it, having cleansed it by the washing of water with the word,in order to make her holy, cleansing her with the baptismal water by the word,That he might sanctify it, cleansing it by the laver of water in the word of life:
Ephesians 5:27that he might present the assembly to himself gloriously, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.that He might present the Church to Himself a glorious bride, without spot or wrinkle or any other defect, but to be holy and unblemished.That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle, or any; such thing; but that it should be holy, and without blemish.
Ephesians 5:28Even so ought husbands also to love their own wives as their own bodies. He who loves his own wife loves himself.So too married men ought to love their wives as much as they love themselves. He who loves his wife loves himself.So also ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife, loveth himself.
Ephesians 5:29For no man ever hated his own flesh; but nourishes and cherishes it, even as Christ also the assembly;For never yet has a man hated his own body. On the contrary he feeds and cherishes it, just as Christ feeds and cherishes the Church;For no man ever hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, as also Christ doth the church:
Ephesians 5:30because we are members of his body, of his flesh and bones.because we are, as it were, parts of His Body.Because we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.
Ephesians 5:31"For this cause a man will leave his father and mother, and will be joined to his wife. The two will become one flesh.""For this reason a man is to leave his father and his mother and be united to his wife, and the two shall be as one."For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife, and they shall be two in one flesh.
Ephesians 5:32This mystery is great, but I speak in regard of Christ and of the assembly.That is a great truth hitherto kept secret: I mean the truth concerning Christ and the Church.This is a great sacrament; but I speak in Christ and in the church.
Ephesians 5:33Nevertheless each of you must also love his own wife even as himself; and let the wife see that she respects her husband.Yet I insist that among you also, each man is to love his own wife as much as he loves himself, and let a married woman see to it that she treats her husband with respect.Nevertheless let every one of you in particular love his wife as himself: and let the wife fear her husband.
