Matthew 25:1"Then the Kingdom of Heaven will be like ten virgins, who took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom."Then will the Kingdom of the Heavens be found to be like ten bridesmaids who took their torches and went out to meet the bridegroom. Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.
Matthew 25:2Five of them were foolish, and five were wise.Five of them were foolish and five were wise. And five of them were wise, and five were foolish.
Matthew 25:3Those who were foolish, when they took their lamps, took no oil with them,For the foolish, when they took their torches, did not provide themselves with oil; They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them:
Matthew 25:4but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.but the wise, besides their torches, took oil in their flasks. But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.
Matthew 25:5Now while the bridegroom delayed, they all slumbered and slept. The bridegroom was a long time in coming, so that meanwhile they all became drowsy and fell asleep. While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.
Matthew 25:6But at midnight there was a cry, 'Behold! The bridegroom is coming! Come out to meet him!'But at midnight there is a loud cry, "`The bridegroom! Go out and meet him!'And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him.
Matthew 25:7Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps."Then all those bridesmaids roused themselves and trimmed their torches. Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps.
Matthew 25:8The foolish said to the wise, 'Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.'"`Give us some of your oil,' said the foolish ones to the wise, `for our torches are going out.'And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out.
Matthew 25:9But the wise answered, saying, 'What if there will not be enough for us and you? You go rather to those who sell, and buy for yourselves.'"`But perhaps,' replied the wise, `there will not be enough for all of us. Go to the shops rather, and buy some for yourselves.'But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves.
Matthew 25:10While they went away to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the marriage feast, and the door was shut."So they went to buy. But meanwhile the bridegroom came; those bridesmaids who were ready went in with him to the wedding banquet; and the door was shut. And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.
Matthew 25:11Afterward the other virgins also came, saying, 'Lord, Lord, open to us.'"Afterwards the other bridesmaids came and cried, "`Sir, Sir, open the door to us.'Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.
Matthew 25:12But he answered, 'Most assuredly I tell you, I don't know you.'"`In solemn truth I tell you,' he replied, `I do not know you.'But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.
Matthew 25:13Watch therefore, for you don't know the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming."Keep awake therefore; for you know neither the day nor the hour.Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.
Matthew 25:14"For it is like a man, going into another country, who called his own servants, and delivered his goods to them."Why, it is like a man who, when going on his travels, called his bondservants and entrusted his property to their care. For the kingdom of heaven is as a man travelling into a far country, who called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods.
Matthew 25:15To one he gave five talents, to another two, to another one; to each according to his own ability, and he went on his journey. To one he gave five talents, to another two, to another one to each according to his individual capacity; and then started from home. And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several ability; and straightway took his journey.
Matthew 25:16Immediately he who received the five talents went and traded with them, and made another five talents.Without delay the one who had received the five talents went and employed them in business, and gained five more. Then he that had received the five talents went and traded with the same, and made them other five talents.
Matthew 25:17In like manner he also who got the two gained another two.In the same way he who had the two gained two more. And likewise he that had received two, he also gained other two.
Matthew 25:18But he who received the one went away and dug in the earth, and hid his lord's money. But the man who had received the one went and dug a hole and buried his master's money. But he that had received one went and digged in the earth, and hid his lord's money.
Matthew 25:19Now after a long time the lord of those servants came, and reconciled accounts with them."After a long lapse of time the master of those servants returned, and had a reckoning with them. After a long time the lord of those servants cometh, and reckoneth with them.
Matthew 25:20He who received the five talents came and brought another five talents, saying, 'Lord, you delivered to me five talents. Behold, I have gained another five talents besides them.'The one who had received the five talents came and brought five more, and said, "`Sir, it was five talents that you entrusted to me: see, I have gained five more.'And so he that had received five talents came and brought other five talents, saying, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me five talents: behold, I have gained beside them five talents more.
Matthew 25:21His lord said to him, 'Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a few things, I will set you over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.'"`You have done well, good and trustworthy servant,' replied his master; `you have been trustworthy in the management of a little, I will put you in charge of much: share your master's joy.'His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
Matthew 25:22He also who got the two talents came and said, 'Lord, you delivered to me two talents. Behold, I have gained another two talents besides them.'"The second, who had received the two talents, came and said, "`Sir, it was two talents you entrusted to me: see, I have gained two more.'He also that had received two talents came and said, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me two talents: behold, I have gained two other talents beside them.
Matthew 25:23His lord said to him, 'Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a few things, I will set you over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.'"`Good and trustworthy servant, you have done well,' his master replied; `you have been trustworthy in the management of a little, I will put you in charge of much: share your master's joy.'His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
Matthew 25:24He also who had received the one talent came and said, 'Lord, I knew you that you are a hard man, reaping where you did not sow, and gathering where you did not scatter."But, next, the man who had the one talent in his keeping came and said, "`Sir, I knew you to be a severe man, reaping where you had not sown and garnering what you had not winnowed. Then he which had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew thee that thou art an hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown, and gathering where thou hast not strawed:
Matthew 25:25I was afraid, and went away and hid your talent in the earth. Behold, you have your own.'So being afraid I went and buried your talent in the ground: there you have what belongs to you.'And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, there thou hast that is thine.
Matthew 25:26But his lord answered him, 'You wicked and slothful servant. You knew that I reap where I didn't sow, and gather where I didn't scatter."`You wicked and slothful servant,' replied his master, `did you know that I reap where I have not sown, and garner what I have not winnowed? His lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I have not strawed:
Matthew 25:27You ought therefore to have deposited my money with the bankers, and at my coming I should have received back my own with interest.Your duty then was to deposit my money in some bank, and so when I came I should have got back my property with interest.Thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the exchangers, and then at my coming I should have received mine own with usury.
Matthew 25:28Take away therefore the talent from him, and give it to him who has the ten talents. So take away the talent from him, and give it to the man who has the ten.'Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him which hath ten talents.
Matthew 25:29For to everyone who has will be given, and he will have abundance, but from him who has not, even that which he has will be taken away.(For to every one who has, more shall be given, and he shall have abundance; but from him who has nothing, even what he has shall be taken away.)For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath.
Matthew 25:30Throw out the unprofitable servant into the outer darkness; there will be the weeping and the gnashing of teeth.'`But as for this worthless servant, put him out into the darkness outside: *there* will be the weeping and the gnashing of teeth.'And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
Matthew 25:31"But when the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then will he sit on the throne of his glory."When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the angels with Him, then will He sit upon His glorious throne,When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:
Matthew 25:32Before him all the nations will be gathered, and he will separate them one from another, as the shepherd separates the sheep from the goats.and all the nations will be gathered into His presence. And He will separate them from one another, just as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats; And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:
Matthew 25:33He will set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.and will make the sheep stand at His right hand, and the goats at His left. And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.
Matthew 25:34Then the King will tell them on his right hand, 'Come, blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world;"Then the King will say to those at His right, "`Come, my Father's blessed ones, receive your inheritance of the Kingdom which has been divinely intended for you ever since the creation of the world. Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:
Matthew 25:35for I was hungry, and you gave me food to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave me drink; I was a stranger, and you took me in;For when I was hungry, you gave me food; when I was thirsty, you gave me drink; when I was homeless, you gave me a welcome; For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:
Matthew 25:36naked, and you clothed me; I was sick, and you visited me; I was in prison, and you came to me.'when I was ill-clad, you clothed me; when I was sick, you visited me; when I was in prison, you came to see me.'Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.
Matthew 25:37Then the righteous will answer him, saying, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry, and feed you; or thirsty, and give you a drink?"`When, Lord,' the righteous will reply, `did we see Thee hungry, and feed Thee; or thirsty, and give Thee drink? Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?
Matthew 25:38When did we see you as a stranger, and take you in; or naked, and clothe you? When did we see Thee homeless, and give Thee a welcome? or ill-clad, and clothe Thee? When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?
Matthew 25:39When did we see you sick, or in prison, and come to you?'When did we see Thee sick or in prison, and come to see Thee?'Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?
Matthew 25:40The King will answer them, 'Most assuredly I tell you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.'"But the King will answer them, "`In solemn truth I tell you that in so far as you rendered such services to one of the humblest of these my brethren, you rendered them to myself.'And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.
Matthew 25:41Then will he say also to them on the left hand, 'Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire which is prepared for the devil and his angels;"Then will He say to those at His left, "`Begone from me, with the curse resting upon you, into the Fire of the Ages, which has been prepared for the Devil and his angels. Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:
Matthew 25:42for I was hungry, and you didn't give me food to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave me no drink; For when I was hungry, you gave me nothing to eat; when thirsty, you gave me nothing to drink; For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink:
Matthew 25:43I was a stranger, and you didn't take me in; naked, and you didn't clothe me; sick, and in prison, and you didn't visit me.'when homeless, you gave me no welcome; ill-clad, you clothed me not; sick or in prison, you visited me not.'I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.
Matthew 25:44Then will they also answer, saying, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry, or thirsty, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not help you?'"Then will they also answer, "`Lord, when did we see Thee hungry or thirsty or homeless or ill-clad or sick or in prison, and not come to serve Thee?'Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee?
Matthew 25:45Then will he answer them, saying, 'Most assuredly I tell you, inasmuch as you didn't do it to one of these least, you didn't do it to me.'"But he will reply, "`In solemn truth I tell you that in so far as you withheld such services from one of the humblest of these, you withheld them from me.'Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.
Matthew 25:46These will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.""And these shall go away into the Punishment of the Ages, but the righteous into the Life of the Ages."And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.
