John 14:1 | "Don't let your heart be troubled. Believe in God. Believe also in me. | "Let not your hearts be troubled. Trust in God: trust in me also. | `Let not your heart be troubled, believe in God, also in me believe; |
John 14:2 | In my Father's house are many mansions. If it weren't so, I would have told you. I am going to prepare a place for you. | In my Father's house there are many resting-places. Were it otherwise, I would have told you; for I am going to make ready a place for you. | in the house of my Father are many mansions; and if not, I would have told you; I go on to prepare a place for you; |
John 14:3 | If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and will receive you to myself; that where I am, you may be there also. | And if I go and make ready a place for you, I will return and take you to be with me, that where I am you also may be. | and if I go on and prepare for you a place, again do I come, and will receive you unto myself, that where I am ye also may be; |
John 14:4 | Where I go, you know, and you know the way." | And where I am going, you all know the way." | and whither I go away ye have known, and the way ye have known.` |
John 14:5 | Thomas says to him, "Lord, we don't know where you are going. How can we know the way?" | "Master," said Thomas, "we do not know where you are going. In what sense do we know the way?" | Thomas saith to him, `Sir, we have not known whither thou goest away, and how are we able to know the way?` |
John 14:6 | Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, but by me. | "I am the Way," replied Jesus, "and the Truth and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through me. | Jesus saith to him, `I am the way, and the truth, and the life, no one doth come unto the Father, if not through me; |
John 14:7 | If you had known me, you would have known my Father also. From now on, you know him, and have seen him." | If you all of you knew me, you would fully know my Father also. From this time forward you know Him and have seen Him." | if ye had known me, my Father also ye would have known, and from this time ye have known Him, and have seen Him.` |
John 14:8 | Philip said to him, "Lord, show us the Father, and that will be enough for us." | "Master," said Philip, "cause us to see the Father: that is all we need." | Philip saith to him, `Sir, shew to us the Father, and it is enough for us;` |
John 14:9 | Jesus said to him, "Have I been with you such a long time, and do you not know me, Philip? He who has seen me has seen the Father. How do you say, 'Show us the Father?' | "Have I been so long among you," Jesus answered, "and yet you, Philip, do not know me? He who has seen me has seen the Father. How can *you* ask me, `Cause us to see the Father'? | Jesus saith to him, `So long time am I with you, and thou hast not known me, Philip? he who hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how dost thou say, Shew to us the Father? |
John 14:10 | Don't you believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? The words that I tell you, I speak not from myself; but the Father living in me does his works. | Do you not believe that I am in the Father and that the Father is in me? The things that I tell you all I do not speak on my own authority: but the Father dwelling within me carries on His own work. | Believest thou not that I [am] in the Father, and the Father is in me? the sayings that I speak to you, from myself I speak not, and the Father who is abiding in me, Himself doth the works; |
John 14:11 | Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me; or else believe me for the very works' sake. | Believe me, all of you, that I am in the Father and that the Father is in me; or at any rate, believe me because of what I do. | believe me, that I [am] in the Father, and the Father in me; and if not, because of the works themselves, believe me. |
John 14:12 | Most assuredly I tell you, he who believes in me, the works that I do, he will do also; and greater works than these will he do; because I am going to my Father. | In most solemn truth I tell you that he who trusts in me the things which I do he shall do also; and greater things than these he shall do, because I am going to the Father. | `Verily, verily, I say to you, he who is believing in me, the works that I do that one also shall do, and greater than these he shall do, because I go on to my Father; |
John 14:13 | Whatever you will ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. | And whatever any of you ask in my name, I will do, in order that the Father may be glorified in the Son. | and whatever ye may ask in my name, I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son; |
John 14:14 | If you will ask anything in my name, that will I do. | If you make any request of me in my name, I will do it. | if ye ask anything in my name I will do [it]. |
John 14:15 | If you love me, keep my commandments. | "If you love me, you will obey my commandments. | `If ye love me, my commands keep, |
John 14:16 | I will pray to the Father, and he will give you another Counselor, that he may be with you forever, | And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Advocate to be for ever with you the Spirit of truth. | and I will ask the Father, and another Comforter He will give to you, that he may remain with you to the age; |
John 14:17 | the Spirit of truth, whom the world can't receive; for it doesn't see him, neither knows him. You know him, for he lives with you, and will be in you. | That Spirit the world cannot receive, because it does not see Him or know Him. You know Him, because He remains by your side and is in you. | the Spirit of truth, whom the world is not able to receive, because it doth not behold him, nor know him, and ye know him, because he doth remain with you, and shall be in you. |
John 14:18 | I will not leave you orphans. I will come to you. | I will not leave you bereaved: I am coming to you. | `I will not leave you bereaved, I come unto you; |
John 14:19 | Yet a little while, and the world will see me no more; but you will see me. Because I live, you will live also. | Yet a little while and the world will see me no more, but you will see me: because I live, you also shall live. | yet a little, and the world doth no more behold me, and ye behold me, because I live, and ye shall live; |
John 14:20 | In that day you will know that I am in my Father, and you in me, and I in you. | At that time you will know that I am in my Father, and that you are in me, and that I am in you. | in that day ye shall know that I [am] in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you; |
John 14:21 | Someone who has my commandments, and keeps them, that person is one who loves me. One who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him, and will reveal myself to him." | He who has my commandments and obeys them he it is who loves me. And he who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and will clearly reveal myself to him." | he who is having my commands, and is keeping them, that one it is who is loving me, and he who is loving me shall be loved by my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.` |
John 14:22 | Judas (not Iscariot) said to him, "Lord, what will happen that you will reveal yourself to us, and not to the world?" | Judas (not the Iscariot) asked, "Master, how is it that you will reveal yourself clearly to us and not to the world?" | Judas saith to him, (not the Iscariot), `Sir, what hath come to pass, that to us thou are about to manifest thyself, and not to the world?` |
John 14:23 | Jesus answered him, "If a man loves me, he will keep my word. My Father will love him, and we will come to him, and make our home with him. | "If any one loves me," replied Jesus, "he will obey my teaching; and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him. | Jesus answered and said to him, `If any one may love me, my word he will keep, and my Father will love him, and unto him we will come, and abode with him we will make; |
John 14:24 | He who doesn't love me doesn't keep my words. The word which you hear isn't mine, but the Father's who sent me. | He who has no love for me does not obey my teaching; and yet the teaching to which you are listening is not mine, but is the teaching of the Father who sent me. | he who is not loving me, my words doth not keep; and the word that ye hear is not mine, but the Father`s who sent me. |
John 14:25 | I have said these things to you, while still living with you. | "All this I have spoken to you while still with you. | `These things I have spoken to you, remaining with you, |
John 14:26 | But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things, and bring to your memory all that I said to you. | But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit whom the Father will send at my request, will teach you everything, and will bring to your memories all that I have said to you. | and the Comforter, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things, and remind you of all things that I said to you. |
John 14:27 | Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you; not as the world gives, give I to you. Don't let your heart be troubled, neither let it be fearful. | Peace I leave with you: my own peace I give to you. It is not as the world gives its greetings that I give you peace. Let not your hearts be troubled or dismayed. | `Peace I leave to you; my peace I give to you, not according as the world doth give do I give to you; let not your heart be troubled, nor let it be afraid; |
John 14:28 | You heard how I told you, 'I go away, and I come to you.' If you loved me, you would have rejoiced, because I said 'I am going to my Father;' for the Father is greater than I. | "You heard me say to you, `I am going away, and yet I am coming to you.' If you loved me, you would have rejoiced because I am going to the Father; for the Father is greater than I am. | ye heard that I said to you I go away, and I come unto you; if ye did love me, ye would have rejoiced that I said I go on to the Father, because my Father is greater than I. |
John 14:29 | Now I have told you before it happens so that, when it happens, you may believe. | I have now told you before it comes to pass, that when it has come to pass you may believe. | `And now I have said [it] to you before it come to pass, that when it may come to pass, ye may believe; |
John 14:30 | I will no more speak much with you, for the prince of the world comes, and he has nothing in me. | In future I shall not talk much with you, for the Prince of this world is coming. And yet in me he has nothing; | I will no more talk much with you, for the ruler of this world doth come, and in me he hath nothing; |
John 14:31 | But that the world may know that I love the Father, and as the Father commanded me, even so I do. Arise, let us go from here. | but it is in order that the world may know that I love the Father, and that it is in obedience to the command which the Father gave me that I thus act. Rise, let us be going." | but that the world may know that I love the Father, and according as the Father gave me command so I do; arise, we may go hence. |
