Jonah 2:1Then Jonah prayed to Yahweh, his God, out of the fish's belly. And Jonah prayeth unto Jehovah his God from the bowels of the fish. Then Jonah made prayer to the Lord his God from the inside of the fish, and said,
Jonah 2:2He said, "I called because of my affliction to Yahweh. He answered me. Out of the belly of Sheol I cried. You heard my voice. And he saith: I called, because of my distress, to Jehovah, And He doth answer me, From the belly of sheol I have cried, Thou hast heard my voice. In my trouble I was crying to the Lord, and he gave me an answer; out of the deepest underworld I sent up a cry, and you gave ear to my voice.
Jonah 2:3For you threw me into the depths, In the heart of the seas. The flood was all around me. All your waves and your billows passed over me.When Thou dost cast me [into] the deep, Into the heart of the seas, Then the flood doth compass me, All Thy breakers and Thy billows have passed over me.For you have put me down into the deep, into the heart of the sea; and the river was round about me; all your waves and your rolling waters went over me.
Jonah 2:4I said, 'I have been banished from your sight; Yet I will look again toward your holy temple.'And I I said: I have been cast out from before Thine eyes, (Yet I add to look unto Thy holy temple!)And I said, I have been sent away from before your eyes; how may I ever again see your holy Temple?
Jonah 2:5The waters surrounded me, Even to the soul. The deep was around me. The weeds were wrapped around my head.Compassed me have waters unto the soul, The deep doth compass me, The weed is bound to my head. The waters were circling round me, even to the neck; the deep was about me; the sea-grass was twisted round my head.
Jonah 2:6I went down to the bottoms of the mountains. The earth barred me in forever: Yet have you brought up my life from the pit, Yahweh my God.To the cuttings of mountains I have come down, The earth, her bars [are] behind me to the age. And Thou bringest up from the pit my life, O Jehovah my God.I went down to the bases of the mountains; as for the earth, her walls were about me for ever: but you have taken up my life from the underworld, O Lord my God.
Jonah 2:7"When my soul fainted within me, I remembered Yahweh. My prayer came in to you, into your holy temple. In the feebleness within me of my soul Jehovah I have remembered, And come in unto Thee doth my prayer, Unto Thy holy temple. When my soul in me was overcome, I kept the memory of the Lord: and my prayer came in to you, into your holy Temple.
Jonah 2:8Those who regard lying vanities forsake their own mercy. Those observing lying vanities their own mercy forsake. The worshippers of false gods have given up their only hope.
Jonah 2:9But I will sacrifice to you with the voice of thanksgiving. I will pay that which I have vowed. Salvation belongs to Yahweh."And I with a voice of thanksgiving I sacrifice to Thee, That which I have vowed I complete, Salvation [is] of Jehovah. But I will make an offering to you with the voice of praise; I will give effect to my oaths. Salvation is the Lord's.
Jonah 2:10Yahweh spoke to the fish, and it vomited out Jonah on the dry land. And Jehovah saith to the fish, and it vomiteth out Jonah on the dry land. And at the Lord's order, the fish sent Jonah out of its mouth on to the dry land.
