Matthew 15:1Then Pharisees and scribes come to Jesus from Jerusalem, saying,Then come unto Jesus do they from Jerusalem scribes and Pharisees saying,Then there came to Jesus from Jerusalem Pharisees and scribes, saying,
Matthew 15:2"Why do your disciples disobey the tradition of the elders? For they don't wash their hands when they eat bread."`Wherefore do thy disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? for they do not wash their hands when they may eat bread.`Why do your disciples go against the teaching of the fathers? for they take food with unwashed hands.
Matthew 15:3He answered them, "Why do you also disobey the commandment of God because of your tradition?And he answering said to them, `Wherefore also do ye transgress the command of God because of your tradition?And in answer he said to them, Why do you, yourselves, go against the word of God on account of the teaching which has been handed down to you?
Matthew 15:4For God commanded, 'Honor your father and your mother,' and, 'He who speaks evil of father or mother, let him be put to death.'for God did command, saying, Honour thy father and mother; and, He who is speaking evil of father or mother let him die the death;For God said, Give honour to your father and mother: and, He who says evil of father or mother will be put to death.
Matthew 15:5But you say, 'Whoever will tell his father or his mother, "Whatever help you might otherwise have gotten from me is a gift devoted to God,"but ye say, Whoever may say to father or mother, An offering [is] whatever thou mayest be profited by me;But you say, If a man says to his father or his mother, That by which you might have had profit from me is given to God;
Matthew 15:6he will not honor his father or mother.' You have made the commandment of God void because of your tradition.and he may not honour his father or his mother, and ye did set aside the command of God because of your tradition.There is no need for him to give honour to his father. And you have made the word of God without effect because of your teaching.
Matthew 15:7You hypocrites! Well did Isaiah prophesy of you, saying,`Hypocrites, well did Isaiah prophesy of you, saying,You false ones, well did Isaiah say of you,
Matthew 15:8'These people draw near to me with their mouth, And honor me with their lips; But their heart is far from me.This people doth draw nigh to Me with their mouth, and with the lips it doth honour Me, but their heart is far off from Me;These people give me honour with their lips, but their heart is far from me.
Matthew 15:9But in vain do they worship me, Teaching as doctrine rules made by men.'"and in vain do they worship Me, teaching teachings commands of men.`But their worship is to no purpose, while they give as their teaching the rules of men.
Matthew 15:10He called the multitude to himself, and said to them, "Hear, and understand.And having called near the multitude, he said to them, `Hear and understand:And he got the people together and said to them, Give ear, and let my words be clear to you:
Matthew 15:11That which enters into the mouth doesn't defile the man; but that which proceeds out of the mouth, this defiles the man."not that which is coming into the mouth doth defile the man, but that which is coming forth from the mouth, this defileth the man.`Not that which goes into the mouth makes a man unclean, but that which comes out of the mouth.
Matthew 15:12Then the disciples came, and said to him, "Do you know that the Pharisees were offended, when they heard this saying?"Then his disciples having come near, said to him, `Hast thou known that the Pharisees, having heard the word, were stumbled?`Then the disciples came and said to him, Did you see that the Pharisees were troubled when these words came to their ears?
Matthew 15:13But he answered, "Every plant which my heavenly Father didn't plant will be uprooted.And he answering said, `Every plant that my heavenly Father did not plant shall be rooted up;But he said in answer, Every plant which my Father in heaven has not put in the earth, will be taken up by the roots.
Matthew 15:14Let them alone. They are blind guides of the blind. If the blind guide the blind, both will fall into a pit."let them alone, guides they are blind of blind; and if blind may guide blind, both into a ditch shall fall.`Let them be: they are blind guides. And if a blind man is guiding a blind man, the two will go falling into a hole together.
Matthew 15:15Peter answered him, "Explain the parable to us."And Peter answering said to him, `Explain to us this simile.`Then Peter said to him, Make the story clear to us.
Matthew 15:16So Jesus said, "Do you also still not understand?And Jesus said, `Are ye also yet without understanding?And he said, Are you, like them, still without wisdom?
Matthew 15:17Don't you understand that whatever goes into the mouth passes into the belly, and then out of the body?do ye not understand that all that is going into the mouth doth pass into the belly, and into the drain is cast forth?Do you not see that whatever goes into the mouth goes on into the stomach, and is sent out as waste?
Matthew 15:18But the things which proceed out of the mouth come forth out of the heart, and they defile the man.but the things coming forth from the mouth from the heart do come forth, and these defile the man;But the things which come out of the mouth come from the heart; and they make a man unclean.
Matthew 15:19For out of the heart come forth evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, sexual sins, thefts, false testimony, and blasphemies.for out of the heart come forth evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, whoredoms, thefts, false witnessings, evil speakings:For out of the heart come evil thoughts, the taking of life, broken faith between the married, unclean desires of the flesh, taking of property, false witness, bitter words:
Matthew 15:20These are the things which defile the man; but to eat with unwashed hands doesn't defile the man."these are the things defiling the man; but to eat with unwashen hands doth not defile the man.`These are the things which make a man unclean; but to take food with unwashed hands does not make a man unclean.
Matthew 15:21Jesus went out from there, and withdrew into the parts of Tyre and Sidon.And Jesus having come forth thence, withdrew to the parts of Tyre and Sidon,And Jesus went away from there into the country of Tyre and Sidon.
Matthew 15:22Behold, a Canaanite woman came out from those borders, and cried, saying, "Have mercy on me, Lord, you son of David. My daughter is grievously vexed with a demon."and lo, a woman, a Canaanitess, from those borders having come forth, did call to him, saying, `Deal kindly with me, Sir Son of David; my daughter is miserably demonized.`And a woman of Canaan came out from those parts, crying and saying, Have pity on me, O Lord, Son of David; my daughter is greatly troubled with an unclean spirit.
Matthew 15:23But he answered her not a word. His disciples came and begged him, saying, "Send her away; for she cries after us."And he did not answer her a word; and his disciples having come to him, were asking him, saying `Let her away, because she crieth after us;`But he gave her no answer. And his disciples came and said to him, Send her away, for she is crying after us.
Matthew 15:24But he answered, "I wasn't sent to anyone but the lost sheep of the house of Israel."and he answering said, `I was not sent except to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.`But he made answer and said, I was sent only to the wandering sheep of the house of Israel.
Matthew 15:25But she came and worshipped him, saying, "Lord, help me."And having come, she was bowing to him, saying, `Sir, help me;`But she came and gave him worship, saying, Help, Lord.
Matthew 15:26But he answered, "It is not appropriate to take the children's bread and throw it to the dogs."and he answering said, `It is not good to take the children`s bread, and to cast to the little dogs.`And he made answer and said, It is not right to take the children's bread and give it to the dogs.
Matthew 15:27But she said, "Yes, Lord, but even the dogs eat the crumbs which fall from their masters' table."And she said, `Yes, sir, for even the little dogs do eat of the crumbs that are falling from their lords` table;`But she said, Yes, Lord: but even the dogs take the bits from under their masters' table.
Matthew 15:28Then Jesus answered her, "Woman, great is your faith! Be it done to you even as you desire." And her daughter was healed from that hour.then answering, Jesus said to her, `O woman, great [is] thy faith, let it be to thee as thou wilt;` and her daughter was healed from that hour.Then Jesus, answering, said to her, O woman, great is your faith: let your desire be done. And her daughter was made well from that hour.
Matthew 15:29Jesus departed there, and came near to the sea of Galilee; and he went up into the mountain, and sat there.And Jesus having passed thence, came nigh unto the sea of Galilee, and having gone up to the mountain, he was sitting there,And Jesus went from there and came to the sea of Galilee; and he went up into the mountain, and took his seat there.
Matthew 15:30There came to him great multitudes, having with them the lame, blind, mute, maimed, and many others, and they put them down at his feet. He healed them,and there came to him great multitudes, having with them lame, blind, dumb, maimed, and many others, and they did cast them at the feet of Jesus, and he healed them,And there came to him great numbers of people having with them those who were broken in body, or blind, or without voice, or wounded, or ill in any way, and a number of others; they put them down at his feet and he made them well:
Matthew 15:31so that the multitude wondered, when they saw the mute speaking, the injured whole, lame walking, and the blind seeing and they glorified the God of Israel.so that the multitudes did wonder, seeing dumb ones speaking, maimed whole, lame walking, and blind seeing; and they glorified the God of Israel.So that the people were full of wonder when they saw that those who had no voice were talking, the feeble were made strong, those whose bodies were broken had the power of walking, and the blind were able to see: and they gave glory to the God of Israel.
Matthew 15:32Jesus called his disciples to him, and said, "I have compassion on the multitude, because they continue with me now three days and have nothing to eat. I don't want to send them away fasting, or they might faint on the way."And Jesus having called near his disciples, said, `I have compassion upon the multitude, because now three days they continue with me, and they have not what they may eat; and to let them away fasting I will not, lest they faint in the way.`And Jesus got his disciples together and said, I have pity for the people, because they have now been with me three days and have no food: and I will not send them away without food, or they will have no strength for the journey.
Matthew 15:33The disciples said to him, "Where should we get so many loaves in a desert place as to fill so great a multitude?"And his disciples say to him, `Whence to us, in a wilderness, so many loaves, as to fill so great a multitude?`And the disciples say to him, How may we get enough bread in a waste place, to give food to such a number of people?
Matthew 15:34Jesus said to them, "How many loaves do you have?" They said, "Seven, and a few small fish."And Jesus saith to them, `How many loaves have ye?` and they said, `Seven, and a few little fishes.`And Jesus says to them, How much bread have you? And they said, Seven cakes, and some small fishes.
Matthew 15:35He commanded the multitude to sit down on the ground;And he commanded the multitudes to sit down upon the ground,Then he gave an order to the people to be seated on the earth,
Matthew 15:36and he took the seven loaves and the fish. He gave thanks and broke them, and gave to the disciples, and the disciples to the multitudes.and having taken the seven loaves and the fishes, having given thanks, he did break, and gave to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude.And he took the seven cakes of bread and the fishes; and having given praise, he gave the broken bread to the disciples, and the disciples gave it to the people.
Matthew 15:37They all ate, and were filled. They took up seven baskets full of the broken pieces that were left over.And they did all eat, and were filled, and they took up what was over of the broken pieces seven baskets full,And they all took food, and had enough; and they took up of the broken bits, seven baskets full.
Matthew 15:38Those who ate were four thousand men, besides women and children.and those eating were four thousand men, apart from women and children.And there were four thousand men who took food, together with women and children.
Matthew 15:39He sent away the multitudes, and entered into the boat, and came into the borders of Magdala.And having let away the multitudes, he went into the boat, and did come to the borders of Magdala.And when he had sent the people away, he got into the boat, and came into the country of Magadan.
