Matthew 25:1"Then the Kingdom of Heaven will be like ten virgins, who took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.`Then shall the reign of the heavens be likened to ten virgins, who, having taken their lamps, went forth to meet the bridegroom; Then the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins, the friends of the bride, who took their lights, and went out with the purpose of meeting the husband.
Matthew 25:2Five of them were foolish, and five were wise.and five of them were prudent, and five foolish; And five of them were foolish, and five were wise.
Matthew 25:3Those who were foolish, when they took their lamps, took no oil with them, they who were foolish having taken their lamps, did not take with themselves oil;For the foolish, when they took their lights, took no oil with them.
Matthew 25:4but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.and the prudent took oil in their vessels, with their lamps. But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lights.
Matthew 25:5Now while the bridegroom delayed, they all slumbered and slept.`And the bridegroom tarrying, they all nodded and were sleeping,Now the husband was a long time in coming, and they all went to sleep.
Matthew 25:6But at midnight there was a cry, 'Behold! The bridegroom is coming! Come out to meet him!'and in the middle of the night a cry was made, Lo, the bridegroom doth come; go ye forth to meet him.But in the middle of the night there is a cry, The husband comes! Go out to him.
Matthew 25:7Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps.`Then rose all those virgins, and trimmed their lamps,Then all those virgins got up, and made ready their lights.
Matthew 25:8The foolish said to the wise, 'Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.'and the foolish said to the prudent, Give us of your oil, because our lamps are going out;And the foolish said to the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lights are going out.
Matthew 25:9But the wise answered, saying, 'What if there will not be enough for us and you? You go rather to those who sell, and buy for yourselves.'and the prudent answered, saying Lest there may not be sufficient for us and you, go ye rather unto those selling, and buy for yourselves. But the wise made answer, saying, There may not be enough for us and you; it would be better for you to go to the traders and get oil for yourselves.
Matthew 25:10While they went away to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the marriage feast, and the door was shut.`And while they are going away to buy, the bridegroom came, and those ready went in with him to the marriage-feasts, and the door was shut; And while they went to get oil, the master came; and those who were ready went in with him to the feast: and the door was shut.
Matthew 25:11Afterward the other virgins also came, saying, 'Lord, Lord, open to us.'and afterwards come also do the rest of the virgins, saying, Sir, sir, open to us;After that the other virgins came, saying, Lord, Lord, let us in.
Matthew 25:12But he answered, 'Most assuredly I tell you, I don't know you.'and he answering said, Verily I say to you, I have not known you.But he made answer and said, Truly I say to you, I have no knowledge of you.
Matthew 25:13Watch therefore, for you don't know the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming.`Watch therefore, for ye have not known the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man doth come.Keep watch, then, because you are not certain of the day or of the hour.
Matthew 25:14"For it is like a man, going into another country, who called his own servants, and delivered his goods to them.`For as a man going abroad did call his own servants, and did deliver to them his substance,For it is as when a man, about to take a journey, got his servants together, and gave them his property.
Matthew 25:15To one he gave five talents, to another two, to another one; to each according to his own ability, and he went on his journey.and to one he gave five talents, and to another two, and to another one, to each according to his several ability, went abroad immediately. And to one he gave five talents, to another two, to another one; to everyone as he was able; and he went on his journey.
Matthew 25:16Immediately he who received the five talents went and traded with them, and made another five talents.`And he who did receive the five talents, having gone, wrought with them, and made other five talents;Straight away he who had been given the five talents went and did trade with them, and made five more.
Matthew 25:17In like manner he also who got the two gained another two.in like manner also he who [received] the two, he gained, also he, other two;In the same way he who had been given the two got two more.
Matthew 25:18But he who received the one went away and dug in the earth, and hid his lord's money.and he who did receive the one, having gone away, digged in the earth, and hid his lord`s money. But he who was given the one went away and put it in a hole in the earth, and kept his lord's money in a secret place.
Matthew 25:19Now after a long time the lord of those servants came, and reconciled accounts with them.`And after a long time cometh the lord of those servants, and taketh reckoning with them; Now after a long time the lord of those servants comes, and makes up his account with them.
Matthew 25:20He who received the five talents came and brought another five talents, saying, 'Lord, you delivered to me five talents. Behold, I have gained another five talents besides them.'and he who did receive the five talents having come, brought other five talents, saying, `Sir, five talents thou didst deliver to me; lo, other five talents did I gain besides them. And he who had the five talents came with his other five talents, saying, Lord, you gave into my care five talents: see, I have got five more.
Matthew 25:21His lord said to him, 'Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a few things, I will set you over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.'`And his lord said to him, Well done, servant, good and faithful, over a few things thou wast faithful, over many things I will set thee; enter into the joy of thy lord. His lord said to him, Well done, good and true servant: you have been true in a small thing, I will give you control over great things: take your part in the joy of your lord.
Matthew 25:22He also who got the two talents came and said, 'Lord, you delivered to me two talents. Behold, I have gained another two talents besides them.'`And he who also did receive the two talents having come, said, Sir, two talents thou didst deliver to me; lo, other two talents I did gain besides them. And he who had the two talents came and said, Lord, you gave into my care two talents: see, I have got two more.
Matthew 25:23His lord said to him, 'Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a few things, I will set you over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.'`His lord said to him, Well done, servant, good and faithful, over a few things thou wast faithful, over many things I will set thee; enter into the joy of thy lord. His lord said to him, Well done, good and true servant: you have been true in a small thing, I will give you control over great things: take your part in the joy of your lord.
Matthew 25:24He also who had received the one talent came and said, 'Lord, I knew you that you are a hard man, reaping where you did not sow, and gathering where you did not scatter.`And he also who hath received the one talent having come, said, Sir, I knew thee, that thou art a hard man, reaping where thou didst not sow, and gathering from whence thou didst not scatter; And he who had had the one talent came and said, Lord, I had knowledge that you are a hard man, getting in grain where you have not put seed, and making profits for which you have done no work:
Matthew 25:25I was afraid, and went away and hid your talent in the earth. Behold, you have your own.'and having been afraid, having gone away, I hid thy talent in the earth; lo, thou hast thine own!And I was in fear, and went away, and put your talent in the earth: here is what is yours.
Matthew 25:26But his lord answered him, 'You wicked and slothful servant. You knew that I reap where I didn't sow, and gather where I didn't scatter.`And his lord answering said to him, Evil servant, and slothful, thou hadst known that I reap where I did not sow, and I gather whence I did not scatter! But his lord in answer said to him, You are a bad and unready servant; if you had knowledge that I get in grain where I did not put seed, and make profits for which I have done no work,
Matthew 25:27You ought therefore to have deposited my money with the bankers, and at my coming I should have received back my own with interest.it behoved thee then to put my money to the money-lenders, and having come I had received mine own with increase. Why, then, did you not put my money in the bank, and at my coming I would have got back what is mine with interest?
Matthew 25:28Take away therefore the talent from him, and give it to him who has the ten talents.`Take therefore from him the talent, and give to him having the ten talents,Take away, then, his talent and give it to him who has the ten talents.
Matthew 25:29For to everyone who has will be given, and he will have abundance, but from him who has not, even that which he has will be taken away.for to every one having shall be given, and he shall have overabundance, and from him who is not having, even that which he hath shall be taken from him;For to everyone who has will be given, and he will have more: but from him who has not, even what he has will be taken away.
Matthew 25:30Throw out the unprofitable servant into the outer darkness; there will be the weeping and the gnashing of teeth.'and the unprofitable servant cast ye forth to the outer darkness; there shall be the weeping and the gnashing of the teeth. And put out the servant who is of no profit into the outer dark: there will be weeping and cries of sorrow.
Matthew 25:31"But when the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then will he sit on the throne of his glory.`And whenever the Son of Man may come in his glory, and all the holy messengers with him, then he shall sit upon a throne of his glory; But when the Son of man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then will he be seated in his glory:
Matthew 25:32Before him all the nations will be gathered, and he will separate them one from another, as the shepherd separates the sheep from the goats.and gathered together before him shall be all the nations, and he shall separate them from one another, as the shepherd doth separate the sheep from the goats,And before him all the nations will come together; and they will be parted one from another, as the sheep are parted from the goats by the keeper.
Matthew 25:33He will set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.and he shall set the sheep indeed on his right hand, and the goats on the left. And he will put the sheep on his right, but the goats on the left.
Matthew 25:34Then the King will tell them on his right hand, 'Come, blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world;`Then shall the king say to those on his right hand, Come ye, the blessed of my Father, inherit the reign that hath been prepared for you from the foundation of the world; Then will the King say to those on his right, Come, you who have the blessing of my Father, into the kingdom made ready for you before the world was:
Matthew 25:35for I was hungry, and you gave me food to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave me drink; I was a stranger, and you took me in;for I did hunger, and ye gave me to eat; I did thirst, and ye gave me to drink; I was a stranger, and ye received me;For I was in need of food, and you gave it to me: I was in need of drink, and you gave it to me: I was wandering, and you took me in;
Matthew 25:36naked, and you clothed me; I was sick, and you visited me; I was in prison, and you came to me.'naked, and ye put around me; I was infirm, and ye looked after me; in prison I was, and ye came unto me.I had no clothing, and you gave it to me: when I was ill, or in prison, you came to me.
Matthew 25:37Then the righteous will answer him, saying, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry, and feed you; or thirsty, and give you a drink?`Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when did we see thee hungering, and we nourished? or thirsting, and we gave to drink? Then will the upright make answer to him, saying, Lord, when did we see you in need of food, and give it to you? or in need of drink, and give it to you?
Matthew 25:38When did we see you as a stranger, and take you in; or naked, and clothe you?and when did we see thee a stranger, and we received? or naked, and we put around? And when did we see you wandering, and take you in? or without clothing, and give it to you?
Matthew 25:39When did we see you sick, or in prison, and come to you?'and when did we see thee infirm, or in prison, and we came unto thee? And when did we see you ill, or in prison, and come to you?
Matthew 25:40The King will answer them, 'Most assuredly I tell you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.'`And the king answering, shall say to them, Verily I say to you, Inasmuch as ye did [it] to one of these my brethren the least to me ye did [it].And the King will make answer and say to them, Truly I say to you, Because you did it to the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.
Matthew 25:41Then will he say also to them on the left hand, 'Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire which is prepared for the devil and his angels; Then shall he say also to those on the left hand, Go ye from me, the cursed, to the fire, the age-during, that hath been prepared for the Devil and his messengers; Then will he say to those on the left, Go from me, you cursed ones, into the eternal fire which is ready for the Evil One and his angels:
Matthew 25:42for I was hungry, and you didn't give me food to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave me no drink;for I did hunger, and ye gave me not to eat; I did thirst, and ye gave me not to drink; For I was in need of food, and you gave it not to me; I was in need of drink, and you gave it not to me:
Matthew 25:43I was a stranger, and you didn't take me in; naked, and you didn't clothe me; sick, and in prison, and you didn't visit me.'a stranger I was, and ye did not receive me; naked, and ye put not around me; infirm, and in prison, and ye did not look after me.I was wandering, and you took me not in; without clothing, and you gave me no clothing; ill, and in prison, and you came not to me.
Matthew 25:44Then will they also answer, saying, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry, or thirsty, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not help you?'`Then shall they answer, they also, saying, Lord, when did we see thee hungering, or thirsting, or a stranger, or naked, or infirm, or in prison, and we did not minister to thee? Then will they make answer, saying, Lord, when did we see you in need of food or drink, or wandering, or without clothing, or ill, or in prison, and did not take care of you?
Matthew 25:45Then will he answer them, saying, 'Most assuredly I tell you, inasmuch as you didn't do it to one of these least, you didn't do it to me.'`Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say to you, Inasmuch as ye did [it] not to one of these, the least, ye did [it] not to me.Then will he make answer to them, saying, Truly I say to you, Because you did it not to the least of these, you did it not to me.
Matthew 25:46These will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life."And these shall go away to punishment age-during, but the righteous to life age-during.`And these will go away into eternal punishment; but the upright into eternal life.
