Matthew 17:1After six days, Jesus took with him Peter, James, and John, his brother, and brought them up into a high mountain by themselves.And after six days Jesus taketh Peter, and James, and John his brother, and doth bring them up to a high mount by themselves,And after six days Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart,
Matthew 17:2He was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and his garments became white as the light.and he was transfigured before them, and his face shone as the sun, and his garments did become white as the light,And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light.
Matthew 17:3Behold, there appeared to them Moses and Elijah talking with him.and lo, appear to them did Moses and Elijah, talking together with him.And, behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elias talking with him.
Matthew 17:4Peter answered, and said to Jesus, "Lord, it is good for us to be here. If you want, let's make three tents here: one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah."And Peter answering said to Jesus, `Sir, it is good to us to be here; if thou wilt, we may make here three booths for thee one, and for Moses one, and one for Elijah.`Then answered Peter, and said unto Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here: if thou wilt, let us make here three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias.
Matthew 17:5While he was still speaking, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them. Behold, a voice out of the cloud, saying, "This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Listen to him."While he is yet speaking, lo, a bright cloud overshadowed them, and lo, a voice out of the cloud, saying, `This is My Son, the Beloved, in whom I did delight; hear him.`While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.
Matthew 17:6When the disciples heard it, they fell on their faces, and were very afraid.And the disciples having heard, did fall upon their face, and were exceedingly afraid,And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their face, and were sore afraid.
Matthew 17:7Jesus came and touched them and said, "Get up, and don't be afraid."and Jesus having come near, touched them, and said, `Rise, be not afraid,`And Jesus came and touched them, and said, Arise, and be not afraid.
Matthew 17:8Lifting up their eyes, they saw no one, except Jesus alone.and having lifted up their eyes, they saw no one, except Jesus only.And when they had lifted up their eyes, they saw no man, save Jesus only.
Matthew 17:9As they were coming down from the mountain, Jesus commanded them, saying, "Don't tell anyone what you saw, until the Son of Man has risen from the dead."And as they are coming down from the mount, Jesus charged them, saying, `Say to no one the vision, till the Son of Man out of the dead may rise.`And as they came down from the mountain, Jesus charged them, saying, Tell the vision to no man, until the Son of man be risen again from the dead.
Matthew 17:10His disciples asked him, saying, "Then why do the scribes say that Elijah must come first?And his disciples questioned him, saying, `Why then do the scribes say that Elijah it behoveth to come first?`And his disciples asked him, saying, Why then say the scribes that Elias must first come?
Matthew 17:11Jesus answered them, "Elijah indeed comes first, and will restore all things,And Jesus answering said to them, `Elijah doth indeed come first, and shall restore all things,And Jesus answered and said unto them, Elias truly shall first come, and restore all things.
Matthew 17:12but I tell you that Elijah has come already, and they didn't recognize him, but did to him whatever they wanted to. Even so will the Son of Man also suffer by them."and I say to you Elijah did already come, and they did not know him, but did with him whatever they would, so also the Son of Man is about to suffer by them.`But I say unto you, That Elias is come already, and they knew him not, but have done unto him whatsoever they listed. Likewise shall also the Son of man suffer of them.
Matthew 17:13Then the disciples understood that he spoke to them of John the Baptizer.Then understood the disciples that concerning John the Baptist he spake to them.Then the disciples understood that he spake unto them of John the Baptist.
Matthew 17:14When they came to the multitude, there came to him a man, kneeling to him, saying,And when they came unto the multitude, there came to him a man, kneeling down to him,And when they were come to the multitude, there came to him a certain man, kneeling down to him, and saying,
Matthew 17:15"Lord, have mercy on my son, for he is epileptic, and suffers grievously; for he often falls into the fire, and often into the water.and saying, `Sir, deal kindly with my son, for he is lunatic, and doth suffer miserably, for often he doth fall into the fire, and often into the water,Lord, have mercy on my son: for he is lunatick, and sore vexed: for ofttimes he falleth into the fire, and oft into the water.
Matthew 17:16So I brought him to your disciples, and they could not cure him."and I brought him near to thy disciples, and they were not able to heal him.`And I brought him to thy disciples, and they could not cure him.
Matthew 17:17Jesus answered, "Faithless and perverse generation! How long will I be with you? How long will I bear with you? Bring him here to me."And Jesus answering said, `O generation, unstedfast and perverse, till when shall I be with you? till when shall I bear you? bring him to me hither;`Then Jesus answered and said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him hither to me.
Matthew 17:18Jesus rebuked him, the demon went out of him, and the boy was cured from that hour.and Jesus rebuked him, and the demon went out of him, and the lad was healed from that hour.And Jesus rebuked the devil; and he departed out of him: and the child was cured from that very hour.
Matthew 17:19Then the disciples came to Jesus privately, and said, "Why couldn't we cast it out?"Then the disciples having come to Jesus by himself, said, `Wherefore were we not able to cast him out?`Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out?
Matthew 17:20He said to them, "Because of your unbelief. For most assuredly I tell you, if you have faith as a grain of mustard seed, you will tell this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move; and nothing will be impossible to you.And Jesus said to them, `Through your want of faith; for verily I say to you, if ye may have faith as a grain of mustard, ye shall say to this mount, Remove hence to yonder place, and it shall remove, and nothing shall be impossible to you,And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.
Matthew 17:21But this kind doesn't go out except by prayer and fasting."and this kind doth not go forth except in prayer and fasting.`Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.
Matthew 17:22While they were staying in Galilee, Jesus said to them, "The Son of Man is about to be delivered up into the hands of men,And while they are living in Galilee, Jesus said to them, `The Son of Man is about to be delivered up to the hands of men,And while they abode in Galilee, Jesus said unto them, The Son of man shall be betrayed into the hands of men:
Matthew 17:23and they will kill him, and the third day he will be raised up." They were exceedingly sorry.and they shall kill him, and the third day he shall rise,` and they were exceeding sorry.And they shall kill him, and the third day he shall be raised again. And they were exceeding sorry.
Matthew 17:24When they were come to Capernaum, those who collected the didrachmas came to Peter, and said, "Doesn't your teacher pay the didrachma?"And they having come to Capernaum, those receiving the didrachms came near to Peter, and said, `Your teacher doth he not pay the didrachms?` He saith, `Yes.`And when they were come to Capernaum, they that received tribute money came to Peter, and said, Doth not your master pay tribute?
Matthew 17:25He said, "Yes." When he came into the house, Jesus anticipated him, saying, "What do you think, Simon? From whom do the kings of the earth receive toll or tribute? From their sons, or from strangers?"And when he came into the house, Jesus anticipated him, saying, `What thinkest thou, Simon? the kings of the earth from whom do they receive custom or poll-tax? from their sons or from the strangers?`He saith, Yes. And when he was come into the house, Jesus prevented him, saying, What thinkest thou, Simon? of whom do the kings of the earth take custom or tribute? of their own children, or of strangers?
Matthew 17:26Peter said to him, "From strangers." Jesus said to him, "Therefore the sons are exempt.Peter saith to him, `From the strangers.` Jesus said to him, `Then are the sons free;Peter saith unto him, Of strangers. Jesus saith unto him, Then are the children free.
Matthew 17:27But, lest we cause them to stumble, go to the sea, and cast a hook, and take up the first fish that comes up. When you have opened his mouth, you will find a stater. Take that, and give it to them for me and you."but, that we may not cause them to stumble, having gone to the sea, cast a hook, and the fish that hath come up first take thou up, and having opened its mouth, thou shalt find a stater, that having taken, give to them for me and thee.`Notwithstanding, lest we should offend them, go thou to the sea, and cast an hook, and take up the fish that first cometh up; and when thou hast opened his mouth, thou shalt find a piece of money: that take, and give unto them for me and thee.
