John 8:1but Jesus went to the Mount of Olives. And at dawn he came again to the temple,Jesus went to the mount of Olives:
John 8:2At dawn, he came again into the temple, and all the people came to him. He sat down, and taught them.and all the people were coming unto him, and having sat down, he was teaching them; And early in the morning he came again into the temple, and all the people came to him; and he sat down and taught them.
John 8:3The scribes and the Pharisees brought a woman taken in adultery. Having set her in the midst, and the scribes and the Pharisees bring unto him a woman having been taken in adultery, and having set her in the midst,And the scribes and Pharisees brought to him a woman taken in adultery: and when they had set her in the midst,
John 8:4they told him, "Teacher, we found this woman in adultery, in the very act.they say to him, `Teacher, this woman was taken in the very crime committing adultery,They say to him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act.
John 8:5Now in our law, Moses commanded us to stone such. What then do you say about her?"and in the law, Moses did command us that such be stoned; thou, therefore, what dost thou say?`Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned; but what sayest thou?
John 8:6They said this testing him, that they might have something to accuse him of. But Jesus stooped down, and wrote on the ground with his finger, as if he didn't hear.and this they said, trying him, that they might have to accuse him. And Jesus, having stooped down, with the finger he was writing on the ground,This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not.
John 8:7But when they continued asking him, he lifted himself up, and said to them, "He who is without sin among you, let him throw the first stone at her."and when they continued asking him, having bent himself back, he said unto them, `The sinless of you let him first cast the stone at her;`So when they continued asking him, he raised himself, and said to them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.
John 8:8Again he stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground.and again having stooped down, he was writing on the ground,And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground.
John 8:9They, when they heard it, being convicted by their conscience, went out one by one, beginning from the oldest, even to the last. Jesus was left alone with the woman where she was, in the midst.and they having heard, and by the conscience being convicted, were going forth one by one, having begun from the elders unto the last; and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst. And they who heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even to the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst.
John 8:10Jesus lifted himself up, and seeing no one but the woman, said to her, "Woman, where are they? Did no one condemn you?"And Jesus having bent himself back, and having seen no one but the woman, said to her, `Woman, where are those thine accusers? did no one pass sentence upon thee?`When Jesus had raised himself, and saw none but the woman, he said to her, Woman, where are those thy accusers? hath no man condemned thee?
John 8:11She said, "No one, Lord." Jesus said, "Neither do I condemn you. Go your way. From now on, sin no more."and she said, `No one, Sir;` and Jesus said to her, `Neither do I pass sentence on thee; be going on, and no more sin.`She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said to her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.
John 8:12Again, therefore, Jesus spoke to them, saying, "I am the light of the world. He who follows me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the light of life."Again, therefore, Jesus spake to them, saying, `I am the light of the world; he who is following me shall not walk in the darkness, but he shall have the light of the life.`Then Jesus spoke again to them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.
John 8:13The Pharisees therefore said to him, "You testify about yourself. Your witness is not valid."The Pharisees, therefore, said to him, `Thou of thyself dost testify, thy testimony is not true;`The Pharisees therefore said to him, Thou testifiest concerning thyself; thy testimony is not true.
John 8:14Jesus answered them, "Even if I testify about myself, my witness is true, for I know where I came from, and where I am going; but you don't know where I came from, or where I am going.Jesus answered and said to them, `And if I testify of myself my testimony is true, because I have known whence I came, and whither I go, and ye ye have not known whence I come, or whither I go.Jesus answered and said to them, Though I testify concerning myself, yet my testimony is true: for I know whence I came, and whither I go; but ye cannot tell whence I come, and whither I go.
John 8:15You judge according to the flesh. I judge no one.`Ye according to the flesh do judge; I do not judge any one,Ye judge after the flesh, I judge no man.
John 8:16Even if I do judge, my judgment is true, for I am not alone, but I am with the Father who sent me.and even if I do judge my judgment is true, because I am not alone, but I and the Father who sent me;And yet if I judge, my judgment is true: for I am not alone, but I and the Father that sent me.
John 8:17It's also written in your law that the testimony of two men is valid.and also in your law it hath been written, that the testimony of two men are true;It is also written in your law, that the testimony of two men is true.
John 8:18I am he who testifies about myself, and the Father who sent me testifies about me."I am [one] who is testifying of myself, and the Father who sent me doth testify of me.`I am one that testifieth concerning myself; and the Father that sent me, testifieth concerning me.
John 8:19They said therefore to him, "Where is your Father?" Jesus answered, "You know neither me, nor my Father. If you knew me, you would know my Father also."They said, therefore, to him, `Where is thy father?` Jesus answered, `Ye have neither known me nor my Father: if me ye had known, my Father also ye had known.`Then said they to him, Where is thy Father? Jesus answered, Ye neither know me, nor my Father: if ye had known me, ye would have known my Father also.
John 8:20Jesus spoke these words in the treasury, as he taught in the temple. No one took him, because his hour had not yet come. These sayings spake Jesus in the treasury, teaching in the temple, and no one seized him, because his hour had not yet come; These words Jesus spoke in the treasury, as he taught in the temple: and no man laid hands on him, for his hour was not yet come.
John 8:21Jesus said therefore again to them, "I am going away, and you will seek me, and will die in your sins. Where I go, you can't come."therefore said Jesus again to them, `I go away, and ye will seek me, and in your sin ye shall die; whither I go away, ye are not able to come.`Then said Jesus again to them, I am going away, and ye will seek me, and will die in your sins: whither I go, ye cannot come.
John 8:22The Jews therefore said, "Will he kill himself, that he says, 'Where I am going, you can't come?'"The Jews, therefore, said, `Will he kill himself, because he saith, Whither I go away, ye are not able to come?`Then said the Jews, will he kill himself? because he saith, Whither I go, ye cannot come.
John 8:23He said to them, "You are from beneath. I am from above. You are of this world. I am not of this world.and he said to them, `Ye are from beneath, I am from above; ye are of this world, I am not of this world; And he said to them, Ye are from beneath; I am from above: ye are of this world; I am not of this world.
John 8:24I said therefore to you that you will die in your sins; for unless you believe that I am he, you will die in your sins."I said, therefore, to you, that ye shall die in your sins, for if ye may not believe that I am [he], ye shall die in your sins.`I said therefore to you, that ye will die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye will die in your sins.
John 8:25They said therefore to him, "Who are you?" Jesus said to them, "Just what I have been saying to you from the beginning. They said, therefore, to him, `Thou who art thou?` and Jesus said to them, `Even what I did speak of to you at the beginning; Then said they to him, Who art thou? And Jesus saith to them, Even the same that I said to you from the beginning.
John 8:26I have many things to speak and to judge concerning you. However he who sent me is true; and the things which I heard from him, these I say to the world."many things I have to speak concerning you and to judge, but He who sent me is true, and I what things I heard from Him these I say to the world.`I have many things to say, and to judge of you: but he that sent me, is true: and I speak to the world those things which I have heard from him.
John 8:27They didn't perceive that he spoke to them about the Father. They knew not that of the Father he spake to them; They understood not that he spoke to them concerning the Father.
John 8:28Jesus therefore said to them, "When you have lifted up the Son of Man, then will you know that I am he, and that I do nothing of myself, but as my Father taught me, I say these things.Jesus, therefore, said to them, `When ye may lift up the Son of Man then ye will know that I am [he]; and of myself I do nothing, but according as my Father did teach me, these things I speak; Then said Jesus to them, When ye have lifted up the Son of man, then shall ye know that I am he, and that I do nothing of myself; but as my Father hath taught me, I speak these things.
John 8:29He who sent me is with me. The Father hasn't left me alone, for I always do the things that are pleasing to him."and He who sent me is with me; the Father did not leave me alone, because I, the things pleasing to Him, do always.`And he that sent me is with me: the Father hath not left me alone; for I do always those things that please him.
John 8:30As he spoke these things, many believed in him.As he is speaking these things, many believed in him;As he spoke these words, many believed on him.
John 8:31Jesus therefore said to those Jews who had believed him, "If you remain in my word, then you are truly my disciples.Jesus, therefore, said unto the Jews who believed in him, `If ye may remain in my word, truly my disciples ye are, and ye shall know the truth,Then said Jesus to those Jews who believed on him, If ye continue in my word, ye are my disciples indeed;
John 8:32You will know the truth, and the truth will make you free."and the truth shall make you free.`And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
John 8:33They answered him, "We are Abraham's seed, and have never yet been in bondage to anyone. How do you say, 'You will be made free?'"They answered him, `Seed of Abraham we are; and to no one have we been servants at any time; how dost thou say Ye shall become free?`They answered him, We are Abraham's offspring, and were never in bondage to any man: how sayest thou, Ye shall be made free?
John 8:34Jesus answered them, "Most assuredly I tell you, everyone who commits sin is the bondservant of sin.Jesus answered them, `Verily, verily, I say to you Every one who is committing sin, is a servant of the sin,Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say to you, Whoever committeth sin, is the servant of sin.
John 8:35A bondservant doesn't live in the house forever. A son remains forever.and the servant doth not remain in the house to the age, the son doth remain to the age;And the servant abideth not in the house for ever, but the Son abideth for ever.
John 8:36If therefore the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed.if then the son may make you free, in reality ye shall be free.If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.
John 8:37I know that you are Abraham's seed, yet you seek to kill me, because my word finds no place in you.`I have known that ye are seed of Abraham, but ye seek to kill me, because my word hath no place in you;I know that ye are Abraham's offspring; but ye seek to kill me, because my word hath no place in you.
John 8:38I say the things which I have seen with my Father; and you also do the things which you have seen with your father."I that which I have seen with my Father do speak, and ye, therefore, that which ye have seen with your father ye do.`I speak that which I have seen with my Father: and ye do that which ye have seen with your father.
John 8:39They answered him, "Our father is Abraham." Jesus said to them, "If you were Abraham's children, you would do the works of Abraham. They answered and said to him, `Our father is Abraham;` Jesus saith to them, `If children of Abraham ye were, the works of Abraham ye were doing; They answered and said to him, Abraham is our father. Jesus saith to them, If ye were Abraham's children, ye would do the works of Abraham.
John 8:40But now you seek to kill me, a man who has told you the truth, which I heard from God. Abraham didn't do this.and now, ye seek to kill me a man who hath spoken to you the truth I heard from God; this Abraham did not;But now ye seek to kill me, a man that hath told you the truth, which I have heard from God: this did not Abraham.
John 8:41You do the works of your father." They said to him, "We were not born of sexual immorality. We have one Father, God."ye do the works of your father.` They said, therefore, to him, `We of whoredom have not been born; one Father we have God;`Ye do the deeds of your father. Then said they to him, We are not born of fornication; we have one Father, even God.
John 8:42Therefore Jesus said to them, "If God were your Father, you would love me, for I came forth and have come from God. For neither have I come of myself, but he sent me.Jesus then said to them, `If God were your father, ye were loving me, for I came forth from God, and am come; for neither have I come of myself, but He sent me;Jesus said to them, If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me.
John 8:43Why don't you understand my speech? Because you can't hear my word.wherefore do ye not know my speech? because ye are not able to hear my word. Why do ye not understand my speech? even because ye cannot hear my word.
John 8:44You are of your Father, the devil, and it is your desire to do the lusts of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and doesn't stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks of his own; for he is a liar, and the father of it.`Ye are of a father the devil, and the desires of your father ye will to do; he was a man-slayer from the beginning, and in the truth he hath not stood, because there is no truth in him; when one may speak the falsehood, of his own he speaketh, because he is a liar also his father.Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do: he was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.
John 8:45But because I tell the truth, you don't believe me.`And because I say the truth, ye do not believe me.And because I tell you the truth, ye believe me not.
John 8:46Which of you convicts me of sin? If I tell the truth, why do you not believe me?Who of you doth convict me of sin? and if I speak truth, wherefore do ye not believe me?Which of you convicteth me of sin? And if I speak the truth, why do ye not believe me?
John 8:47He who is of God hears the words of God. For this cause you don't hear, because you are not of God."he who is of God, the sayings of God he doth hear; because of this ye do not hear, because of God ye are not.`He that is of God, heareth God's words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God.
John 8:48Then the Jews answered him, "Don't we say well that you are a Samaritan, and have a demon?"The Jews, therefore, answered and said to him, `Do we not say well, that thou art a Samaritan, and hast a demon?`Then answered the Jews, and said to him, Say we not well that thou art a Samaritan, and hast a demon?
John 8:49Jesus answered, "I don't have a demon, but I honor my Father, and you dishonor me.Jesus answered, `I have not a demon, but I honour my Father, and ye dishonour me;Jesus answered, I have not a demon; but I honor my Father, and ye dishonor me.
John 8:50But I don't seek my own glory. There is one who seeks and judges.and I do not seek my own glory; there is who is seeking and is judging; And I seek not my own glory: there is one that seeketh and judgeth.
John 8:51Most assuredly, I tell you, if a person keeps my word, he will never see death."verily, verily, I say to you, If any one may keep my word, death he may not see to the age.`Verily, verily, I say to you, If a man shall keep my saying, he shall never see death.
John 8:52Then the Jews said to him, "Now we know that you have a demon. Abraham died, and the prophets; and you say, 'If a man keeps my word, he will never taste of death.'The Jews, therefore, said to him, `Now we have known that thou hast a demon; Abraham did die, and the prophets, and thou dost say, If any one may keep my word, he shall not taste of death to the age! Then said the Jews to him, Now we know that thou hast a demon. Abraham is dead, and the prophets; and thou sayest, If a man shall keep my saying, he shall never taste death.
John 8:53Are you greater than our father, Abraham, who died? The prophets died. Who do you make yourself out to be?"Art thou greater than our father Abraham, who died? and the prophets died; whom dost thou make thyself?`Art thou greater than our father Abraham, who is dead? and the prophets are dead: whom makest thou thyself?
John 8:54Jesus answered, "If I glorify myself, my glory is nothing. It is my Father who glorifies me, of whom you say that he is our God.Jesus answered, `If I glorify myself, my glory is nothing; it is my Father who is glorifying me, of whom ye say that He is your God;Jesus answered, If I honor myself, my honor is nothing: it is my Father that honoreth me, of whom ye say, that he is your God:
John 8:55You have not known him, but I know him. If I said, 'I don't know him,' I would be like you, a liar. But I know him, and keep his word.and ye have not known Him, and I have known Him, and if I say that I have not known Him, I shall be like you speaking falsely; but I have known Him, and His word I keep;Yet ye have not known him; but I know him: and if I should say, I know him not, I should be a liar like you: but I know him, and keep his saying.
John 8:56Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day. He saw it, and was glad."Abraham, your father, was glad that he might see my day; and he saw, and did rejoice.`Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad.
John 8:57The Jews therefore said to him, "You are not yet fifty years old, and have you seen Abraham?"The Jews, therefore, said unto him, `Thou art not yet fifty years old, and Abraham hast thou seen?`Then said the Jews to him, Thou art not yet fifty years old, and hast thou seen Abraham?
John 8:58Jesus said to them, "Most assuredly, I tell you, before Abraham was born, I AM."Jesus said to them, `Verily, verily, I say to you, Before Abraham`s coming I am;`Jesus said to them, Verily, verily, I say to you, Before Abraham was, I am.
John 8:59They took up stones therefore to throw at him, but Jesus hid himself, and went out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by.they took up, therefore, stones that they may cast at him, but Jesus hid himself, and went forth out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by.Then they took up stones to cast at him: but Jesus hid himself, and went out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by.
