| Luke 17:1 | He said to the disciples, "It is impossible that occasions of stumbling should not come, but woe to him through whom they come! | And he said unto the disciples, `It is impossible for the stumbling blocks not to come, but wo [to him] through whom they come; | Jesus said to His disciples, "It is inevitable that causes of stumbling should come; but alas for him through whom they come! |
| Luke 17:2 | It would be better for him if a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he were thrown into the sea, rather than that he should cause one of these little ones to stumble. | it is more profitable to him if a weighty millstone is put round about his neck, and he hath been cast into the sea, than that he may cause one of these little ones to stumble. | It would be well for him if, with a millstone round his neck, he were lying at the bottom of the sea, rather than that he should cause even one of these little ones to fall. |
