Romans 3:1What, then, [is] the superiority of the Jew? or what the profit of the circumcision?What advantage then hath the Jew? or what is the profit of circumcision? How then is the Jew better off? or what profit is there in circumcision?
Romans 3:2much in every way; for first, indeed, that they were intrusted with the oracles of God;Much every way: first of all, that they were intrusted with the oracles of God. Much in every way: first of all because the words of God were given to them.
Romans 3:3for what, if certain were faithless? shall their faithlessness the faithfulness of god make useless?For what if some were without faith? shall their want of faith make of none effect the faithfulness of God? And if some have no faith, will that make the faith of God without effect?
Romans 3:4let it not be! and let God become true, and every man false, according as it hath been written, `That Thou mayest be declared righteous in Thy words, and mayest overcome in Thy being judged.`God forbid: yea, let God be found true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy words, And mightest prevail when thou comest into judgment. In no way: but let God be true, though every man is seen to be untrue; as it is said in the Writings, That your words may be seen to be true, and you may be seen to be right when you are judged.
Romans 3:5And, if our unrighteousness God`s righteousness doth establish, what shall we say? is God unrighteous who is inflicting the wrath? (after the manner of a man I speak)But if our righteousness commendeth the righteousness of God, what shall we say? Is God unrighteous who visiteth with wrath? (I speak after the manner of men.) But if the righteousness of God is supported by our wrongdoing what is to be said? is it wrong for God to be angry (as men may say)?
Romans 3:6let it not be! since how shall God judge the world?God forbid: for then how shall God judge the world? In no way: because if it is so, how is God able to be the judge of all the world?
Romans 3:7for if the truth of God in my falsehood did more abound to His glory, why yet am I also as a sinner judged?But if the truth of God through my lie abounded unto his glory, why am I also still judged as a sinner? But if, because I am untrue, God being seen to be true gets more glory, why am I to be judged as a sinner?
Romans 3:8and not, as we are evil spoken of, and as certain affirm us to say `We may do the evil things, that the good ones may come?` whose judgment is righteous.and why not (as we are slanderously reported, and as some affirm that we say), Let us do evil, that good may come? whose condemnation is just. Let us not do evil so that good may come (a statement which we are falsely said by some to have made), because such behaviour will have its right punishment.
Romans 3:9What, then? are we better? not at all! for we did before charge both Jews and Greeks with being all under sin,What then? are we better than they? No, in no wise: for we before laid to the charge both of Jews and Greeks, that they are all under sin; What then? are we worse off than they? In no way: because we have before made it clear that Jews as well as Greeks are all under the power of sin;
Romans 3:10according as it hath been written `There is none righteous, not even one;as it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one; As it is said in the holy Writings, There is not one who does righteousness;
Romans 3:11There is none who is understanding, there is none who is seeking after God.There is none that understandeth, There is none that seeketh after God; Not one who has the knowledge of what is right, not one who is a searcher after God;
Romans 3:12All did go out of the way, together they became unprofitable, there is none doing good, there is not even one.They have all turned aside, they are together become unprofitable; There is none that doeth good, no, not, so much as one: They have all gone out of the way, there is no profit in any of them; there is not one who does good, not so much as one:
Romans 3:13A sepulchre opened [is] their throat; with their tongues they used deceit; poison of asps [is] under their lips.Their throat is an open sepulchre; With their tongues they have used deceit: The poison of asps is under their lips: Their throat is like an open place of death; with their tongues they have said what is not true: the poison of snakes is under their lips:
Romans 3:14Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness.Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness: Whose mouth is full of curses and bitter words:
Romans 3:15Swift [are] their feet to shed blood.Their feet are swift to shed blood; Their feet are quick in running after blood;
Romans 3:16Ruin and misery [are] in their ways.Destruction and misery are in their ways; Destruction and trouble are in their ways;
Romans 3:17And a way of peace they did not know.And the way of peace have they not known: And of the way of peace they have no knowledge:
Romans 3:18There is no fear of God before their eyes.`There is no fear of God before their eyes. There is no fear of God before their eyes.
Romans 3:19And we have known that as many things as the law saith, to those in the law it doth speak, that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may come under judgment to God;Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it speaketh to them that are under the law; that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may be brought under the judgment of God: Now, we have knowledge that what the law says is for those who are under the law, so that every mouth may be stopped, and all men may be judged by God:
Romans 3:20wherefore by works of law shall no flesh be declared righteous before Him, for through law is a knowledge of sin.because by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified in his sight; for through the law [cometh] the knowledge of sin. Because by the works of the law no man is able to have righteousness in his eyes, for through the law comes the knowledge of sin.
Romans 3:21And now apart from law hath the righteousness of God been manifested, testified to by the law and the prophets,But now apart from the law a righteousness of God hath been manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; But now without the law there is a revelation of the righteousness of God, to which witness is given by the law and the prophets;
Romans 3:22and the righteousness of God [is] through the faith of Jesus Christ to all, and upon all those believing, for there is no difference,even the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ unto all them that believe; for there is no distinction; That is, the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ, to all those who have faith; and one man is not different from another,
Romans 3:23for all did sin, and are come short of the glory of Godfor all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God; For all have done wrong and are far from the glory of God;
Romans 3:24being declared righteous freely by His grace through the redemption that [is] in Christ Jesus,being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: And they may have righteousness put to their credit, freely, by his grace, through the salvation which is in Christ Jesus:
Romans 3:25whom God did set forth a mercy seat, through the faith in his blood, for the shewing forth of His righteousness, because of the passing over of the bygone sins in the forbearance of Godwhom God set forth [to be] a propitiation, through faith, in his blood, to show his righteousness because of the passing over of the sins done aforetime, in the forbearance of God; Whom God has put forward as the sign of his mercy, through faith, by his blood, to make clear his righteousness when, in his pity, God let the sins of earlier times go without punishment;
Romans 3:26for the shewing forth of His righteousness in the present time, for His being righteous, and declaring him righteous who [is] of the faith of Jesus.for the showing, [I say], of his righteousness at this present season: that he might himself be just, and the justifier of him that hath faith in Jesus. And to make clear his righteousness now, so that he might himself be upright, and give righteousness to him who has faith in Jesus.
Romans 3:27Where then [is] the boasting? it was excluded; by what law? of works? no, but by a law of faith:Where then is the glorying? It is excluded. By what manner of law? of works? Nay: but by a law of faith. What reason, then, is there for pride? It is shut out. By what sort of law? of works? No, but by a law of faith.
Romans 3:28therefore do we reckon a man to be declared righteous by faith, apart from works of law.We reckon therefore that a man is justified by faith apart from the works of the law. For this reason, then, a man may get righteousness by faith without the works of the law.
Romans 3:29The God of Jews only [is He], and not also of nations?Or is God [the God] of Jews only? is he not [the God] of Gentiles also? Yea, of Gentiles also: Or is God the God of Jews only? is he not in the same way the God of Gentiles? Yes, of Gentiles:
Romans 3:30yes, also of nations; since one [is] God who shall declare righteous the circumcision by faith, and the uncircumcision through the faith.if so be that God is one, and he shall justify the circumcision by faith, and the uncircumcision through faith. If God is one; and he will give righteousness because of faith to those who have circumcision, and through faith to those who have not circumcision.
Romans 3:31Law then do we make useless through the faith? let it not be! yea, we do establish law.Do we then make the law of none effect through faith? God forbid: nay, we establish the law. Do we, then, through faith make the law of no effect? in no way: but we make it clear that the law is important.
