| Romans 4:1 | What, then, shall we say Abraham our father, to have found, according to flesh? | What then shall we say that Abraham, our forefather, hath found according to the flesh? | What, then, may we say that Abraham, our father after the flesh, has got? |
| Romans 4:2 | for if Abraham by works was declared righteous, he hath to boast but not before god; | For if Abraham was justified by works, he hath whereof to glory; but not toward God. | For if Abraham got righteousness by works, he has reason for pride; but not before God. |
| Romans 4:3 | for what doth the writing say? `And Abraham did believe God, and it was reckoned to him to righteousness;` | For what saith the scripture? And Abraham believed God, and it was reckoned unto him for righteousness. | But what does it say in the holy Writings? And Abraham had faith in God, and it was put to his account as righteousness. |
| Romans 4:4 | and to him who is working, the reward is not reckoned of grace, but of debt; | Now to him that worketh, the reward is not reckoned as of grace, but as of debt. | Now, the reward is credited to him who does works, not as of grace but as a debt. |
