Romans 8:1 | There is, then, now no condemnation to those in Christ Jesus, who walk not according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit; | There is therefore now no condemnation to them that are in Christ Jesus. | For this cause those who are in Christ Jesus will not be judged as sinners. |
Romans 8:2 | for the law of the Spirit of the life in Christ Jesus did set me free from the law of the sin and of the death; | For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus made me free from the law of sin and of death. | For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death. |
Romans 8:3 | for what the law was not able to do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God, His own Son having sent in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, did condemn the sin in the flesh, | For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God, sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: | For what the law was not able to do because it was feeble through the flesh, God, sending his Son in the image of the evil flesh, and as an offering for sin, gave his decision against sin in the flesh: |
Romans 8:4 | that the righteousness of the law may be fulfilled in us, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. | that the ordinance of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. | So that what was ordered by the law might be done in us, who are living, not in the way of the flesh, but in the way of the Spirit. |
Romans 8:5 | For those who are according to the flesh, the things of the flesh do mind; and those according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit; | For they that are after the flesh mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. | For those who are living in the way of the flesh give their minds to the things of the flesh, but those who go in the way of the Spirit, to the things of the Spirit. |
Romans 8:6 | for the mind of the flesh [is] death, and the mind of the Spirit life and peace; | For the mind of the flesh is death; but the mind of the Spirit is life and peace: | For the mind of the flesh is death, but the mind of the Spirit is life and peace: |
Romans 8:7 | because the mind of the flesh [is] enmity to God, for to the law of God it doth not subject itself, | because the mind of the flesh is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can it be: | Because the mind of the flesh is opposite to God; it is not under the law of God, and is not able to be: |
Romans 8:8 | for neither is it able; and those who are in the flesh are not able to please God. | and they that are in the flesh cannot please God. | So that those who are in the flesh are not able to give pleasure to God. |
Romans 8:9 | And ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God doth dwell in you; and if any one hath not the Spirit of Christ this one is not His; | But ye are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you. But if any man hath not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. | You are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if the Spirit of God is in you. But if any man has not the Spirit of Christ he is not one of his. |
Romans 8:10 | and if Christ [is] in you, the body, indeed, [is] dead because of sin, and the Spirit [is] life because of righteousness, | And if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the spirit is life because of righteousness. | And if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. |
Romans 8:11 | and if the Spirit of Him who did raise up Jesus out of the dead doth dwell in you, He who did raise up the Christ out of the dead shall quicken also your dying bodies, through His Spirit dwelling in you. | But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwelleth in you, he that raised up Christ Jesus from the dead shall give life also to your mortal bodies through his Spirit that dwelleth in you. | But if the Spirit of him who made Jesus come again from the dead is in you, he who made Christ Jesus come again from the dead will in the same way, through his Spirit which is in you, give life to your bodies which now are under the power of death. |
Romans 8:12 | So, then, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh; | So then, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh: | So then, my brothers, we are in debt, not to the flesh to be living in the way of the flesh: |
Romans 8:13 | for if according to the flesh ye do live, ye are about to die; and if, by the Spirit, the deeds of the body ye put to death, ye shall live; | for if ye live after the flesh, ye must die; but if by the Spirit ye put to death the deeds of the body, ye shall live. | For if you go in the way of the flesh, death will come on you; but if by the Spirit you put to death the works of the body, you will have life. |
Romans 8:14 | for as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are the sons of God; | For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. | And all those who are guided by the Spirit of God are sons of God. |
Romans 8:15 | for ye did not receive a spirit of bondage again for fear, but ye did receive a spirit of adoption in which we cry, `Abba Father.` | For ye received not the spirit of bondage again unto fear; but ye received the spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. | For you did not get the spirit of servants again to put you in fear, but the spirit of sons was given to you, by which we say, Abba, Father. |
Romans 8:16 | The Spirit himself doth testify with our spirit, that we are children of God; | The Spirit himself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are children of God: | The Spirit is witness with our spirit that we are children of God: |
Romans 8:17 | and if children, also heirs, heirs, indeed, of God, and heirs together of Christ if, indeed, we suffer together, that we may also be glorified together. | and if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with [him], that we may be also glorified with [him]. | And if we are children, we have a right to a part in the heritage; a part in the things of God, together with Christ; so that if we have a part in his pain, we will in the same way have a part in his glory. |
Romans 8:18 | For I reckon that the sufferings of the present time [are] not worthy [to be compared] with the glory about to be revealed in us; | For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed to us-ward. | I am of the opinion that there is no comparison between the pain of this present time and the glory which we will see in the future. |
Romans 8:19 | for the earnest looking out of the creation doth expect the revelation of the sons of God; | For the earnest expectation of the creation waiteth for the revealing of the sons of God. | For the strong desire of every living thing is waiting for the revelation of the sons of God. |
Romans 8:20 | for to vanity was the creation made subject not of its will, but because of Him who did subject [it] in hope, | For the creation was subjected to vanity, not of its own will, but by reason of him who subjected it, in hope | For every living thing was put under the power of change, not by its desire, but by him who made it so, in hope |
Romans 8:21 | that also the creation itself shall be set free from the servitude of the corruption to the liberty of the glory of the children of God; | that the creation itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the liberty of the glory of the children of God. | That all living things will be made free from the power of death and will have a part with the free children of God in glory. |
Romans 8:22 | for we have known that all the creation doth groan together, and doth travail in pain together till now. | For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now. | For we are conscious that all living things are weeping and sorrowing in pain together till now. |
Romans 8:23 | And not only [so], but also we ourselves, having the first-fruit of the Spirit, we also ourselves in ourselves do groan, adoption expecting the redemption of our body; | And not only so, but ourselves also, who have the first-fruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for [our] adoption, [to wit], the redemption of our body. | And not only so, but we who have the first fruits of the Spirit, even we have sorrow in our minds, waiting for the time when we will take our place as sons, that is, the salvation of our bodies. |
Romans 8:24 | for in hope we were saved, and hope beheld is not hope; for what any one doth behold, why also doth he hope for [it]? | For in hope were we saved: but hope that is seen is not hope: for who hopeth for that which he seeth? | For our salvation is by hope: but hope which is seen is not hope: for who is hoping for what he sees? |
Romans 8:25 | and if what we do not behold we hope for, through continuance we expect [it]. | But if we hope for that which we see not, [then] do we with patience wait for it. | But if we have hope for that which we see not, then we will be able to go on waiting for it. |
Romans 8:26 | And, in like manner also, the Spirit doth help our weaknesses; for, what we may pray for, as it behoveth [us], we have not known, but the Spirit himself doth make intercession for us with groanings unutterable, | And in like manner the Spirit also helpeth our infirmity: for we know not how to pray as we ought; but the Spirit himself maketh intercession for [us] with groanings which cannot be uttered; | And in the same way the Spirit is a help to our feeble hearts: for we are not able to make prayer to God in the right way; but the Spirit puts our desires into words which are not in our power to say; |
Romans 8:27 | and He who is searching the hearts hath known what [is] the mind of the Spirit, because according to God he doth intercede for saints. | and he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to [the will of] God. | And he who is the searcher of hearts has knowledge of the mind of the Spirit, because he is making prayers for the saints in agreement with the mind of God. |
Romans 8:28 | And we have known that to those loving God all things do work together for good, to those who are called according to purpose; | And we know that to them that love God all things work together for good, [even] to them that are called according to [his] purpose. | And we are conscious that all things are working together for good to those who have love for God, and have been marked out by his purpose. |
Romans 8:29 | because whom He did foreknow, He also did fore-appoint, conformed to the image of His Son, that he might be first-born among many brethren; | For whom he foreknew, he also foreordained [to be] conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren: | Because those of whom he had knowledge before they came into existence, were marked out by him to be made like his Son, so that he might be the first among a band of brothers: |
Romans 8:30 | and whom He did fore-appoint, these also He did call; and whom He did call, these also He declared righteous; and whom He declared righteous, these also He did glorify. | and whom he foreordained, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified. | And those who were marked out by him were named; and those who were named were given righteousness; and to those to whom he gave righteousness, in the same way he gave glory. |
Romans 8:31 | What, then, shall we say unto these things? if God [is] for us, who [is] against us? | What then shall we say to these things? If God [is] for us, who [is] against us? | What may we say about these things? If God is for us, who is against us? |
Romans 8:32 | He who indeed His own Son did not spare, but for us all did deliver him up, how shall He not also with him the all things grant to us? | He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not also with him freely give us all things? | He who did not keep back his only Son, but gave him up for us all, will he not with him freely give us all things? |
Romans 8:33 | Who shall lay a charge against the choice ones of God? God [is] He that is declaring righteous, | Who shall lay anything to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth; | Who will say anything against the saints of God? It is God who makes us clear from evil; |
Romans 8:34 | who [is] he that is condemning? Christ [is] He that died, yea, rather also, was raised up; who is also on the right hand of God who also doth intercede for us. | who is he that condemneth? It is Christ Jesus that died, yea rather, that was raised from the dead, who is at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us. | Who will give a decision against us? It is Christ Jesus who not only was put to death, but came again from the dead, who is now at the right hand of God, taking our part. |
Romans 8:35 | Who shall separate us from the love of the Christ? tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? | Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or anguish, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? | Who will come between us and the love of Christ? Will trouble, or pain, or cruel acts, or the need of food or of clothing, or danger, or the sword? |
Romans 8:36 | (according as it hath been written `For Thy sake we are put to death all the day long, we were reckoned as sheep of slaughter,`) | Even as it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; We were accounted as sheep for the slaughter. | As it is said in the holy Writings, Because of you we are put to death every day; we are like sheep ready for destruction. |
Romans 8:37 | but in all these we more than conquer, through him who loved us; | Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. | But we are able to overcome all these things and more through his love. |
Romans 8:38 | for I am persuaded that neither death, nor life, nor messengers, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, | For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, | For I am certain that not death, or life, or angels, or rulers, or things present, or things to come, or powers, |
Romans 8:39 | nor things about to be, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of god, that [is] in Christ Jesus our Lord. | nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. | Or things on high, or things under the earth, or anything which is made, will be able to come between us and the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. |
