Acts 24:4and that I may not be further tedious to thee, I pray thee to hear us concisely in thy gentleness; But, that I be not further tedious unto thee, I entreat thee to hear us of thy clemency a few words. Notwithstanding, that I may not be further tedious to thee, I pray thee, that thou wouldst of thy clemency hear us a few words.
Acts 24:5for having found this man a pestilence, and moving a dissension to all the Jews through the world a ringleader also of the sect of the NazarenesFor we have found this man a pestilent fellow, and a mover of insurrections among all the Jews throughout the world, and a ringleader of the sect of the Nazarenes: For we have found this a pestilent man, and a mover of sedition among all the Jews throughout the world, and a ring-leader of the sect of the Nazarenes:
Acts 24:6who also the temple did try to profane, whom also we took, and according to our law did wish to judge, who moreover assayed to profane the temple: on whom also we laid hold: [and we would have judged him according to our law.] Who also hath gone about to profane the temple: whom we took, and would have judged according to our law.
Acts 24:7and Lysias the chief captain having come near, with much violence, out of our hands did take away,[But the chief captain Lysias came, and with great violence took him away out of our hands,] But the chief captain Lysias came and with great violence took him out of our hands,
Acts 24:8having commanded his accusers to come to thee, from whom thou mayest be able, thyself having examined, to know concerning all these things of which we accuse him;`[commanding his accusers to come before thee.] from whom thou wilt be able, by examining him thyself, to take knowledge of all these things whereof we accuse him. Commanding his accusers to come to thee: by examining whom, thou thyself mayest take knowledge of all these things of which we accuse him.
Acts 24:9and the Jews also agreed, professing these things to be so.And the Jews also joined in the charge, affirming that these things were so. And the Jews also assented, saying, that these things were so.
Acts 24:10And Paul answered the governor having beckoned to him to speak `Knowing [that] for many years thou hast been a judge to this nation, the more cheerfully the things concerning myself I do answer; And when the governor had beckoned unto him to speak, Paul answered, Forasmuch as I know that thou hast been of many years a judge unto this nation, I cheerfully make my defense: Then Paul, after the governor had beckoned to him to speak, answered, Forasmuch as I know that thou hast been for many years a judge to this nation, I do the more cheerfully answer for myself:
Acts 24:11thou being able to know that it is not more than twelve days to me since I went up to worship in Jerusalem,Seeing that thou canst take knowledge that it is not more than twelve days since I went up to worship at Jerusalem: That thou mayest understand, that there are yet but twelve days since I went up to Jerusalem to worship.
Acts 24:12and neither in the temple did they find me reasoning with any one, or making a dissension of the multitude, nor in the synagogues, nor in the city;and neither in the temple did they find me disputing with any man or stirring up a crowd, nor in the synagogues, nor in the city. And they neither found me in the temple disputing with any man, neither exciting the people to sedition, neither in the synagogues, nor in the city:
Acts 24:13nor are they able to prove against me the things concerning which they now accuse me.Neither can they prove to thee the things whereof they now accuse me. Neither can they prove the things of which they now accuse me.
Acts 24:14`And I confess this to thee, that, according to the way that they call a sect, so serve I the God of the fathers, believing all things that in the law and the prophets have been written,But this I confess unto thee, that after the Way which they call a sect, so serve I the God of our fathers, believing all things which are according to the law, and which are written in the prophets; But this I confess to thee, that after the way which they call heresy, so I worship the God of my fathers, believing all things which are written in the law and in the prophets:
Acts 24:15having hope toward God, which they themselves also wait for, [that] there is about to be a rising again of the dead, both of righteous and unrighteous;having hope toward God, which these also themselves look for, that there shall be a resurrection both of the just and unjust. And have hope towards God, which they themselves also allow, that there will be a resurrection of the dead, both of the just and unjust.
Acts 24:16and in this I do exercise myself, to have a conscience void of offence toward God and men always.Herein I also exercise myself to have a conscience void of offence toward God and men always. And in this I exercise myself, to have always a conscience void of offense towards God, and towards men.
Acts 24:17`And after many years I came, about to do kind acts to my nation, and offerings,Now after some years I came to bring alms to my nation, and offerings: Now after many years, I came to bring alms to my nation, and offerings.
Acts 24:18in which certain Jews from Asia did find me purified in the temple, not with multitude, nor with tumult, amidst which they found me purified in the temple, with no crowd, nor yet with tumult: but [there were] certain Jews from Asia-- Upon which certain Jews from Asia found me purified in the temple, neither with multitude, nor with tumult.
Acts 24:19whom it behoveth to be present before thee, and to accuse, if they had anything against me,who ought to have been here before thee, and to make accusation, if they had aught against me. Who ought to have been here before thee, and object if they had aught against me.
Acts 24:20or let these same say if they found any unrighteousness in me in my standing before the sanhedrim,Or else let these men themselves say what wrong-doing they found when I stood before the council, Or else let these same here say, if they have found any evil-doing in me, while I stood before the council,
Acts 24:21except concerning this one voice, in which I cried, standing among them Concerning a rising again of the dead I am judged to-day by you.`except it be for this one voice, that I cried standing among them, Touching the resurrection of the dead I am called in question before you this day. Except it is for this one voice, that I cried, standing among them, Concerning the resurrection of the dead I am called in question by you this day.
Acts 24:22And having heard these things, Felix delayed them having known more exactly of the things concerning the way saying, `When Lysias the chief captain may come down, I will know fully the things concerning you;`But Felix, having more exact knowledge concerning the Way, deferred them, saying, When Lysias the chief captain shall come down, I will determine your matter. And when Felix heard these things, having more perfect knowledge of that way, he deferred them, and said, When Lysias the chief captain shall come down, I will know the uttermost of your matter.
