Matthew 20:1`For the reign of the heavens is like to a man, a householder, who went forth with the morning to hire workmen for his vineyard,For the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that was a householder, who went out early in the morning to hire laborers into his vineyard. For the kingdom of heaven is like to a man that is a householder, who went out early in the morning to hire laborers into his vineyard.
Matthew 20:2and having agreed with the workmen for a denary a day, he sent them into his vineyard.And when he had agreed with the laborers for a shilling a day, he sent them into his vineyard. And when he had agreed with the laborers for a penny a day, he sent them into his vineyard.
Matthew 20:3`And having gone forth about the third hour, he saw others standing in the market-place idle,And he went out about the third hour, and saw others standing in the marketplace idle; And he went out about the third hour, and saw others standing idle in the market-place,
Matthew 20:4and to these he said, Go ye also ye to the vineyard, and whatever may be righteous I will give you;and to them he said, Go ye also into the vineyard, and whatsoever is right I will give you. And they went their way. And said to them, Go ye also into the vineyard; and whatever is right, I will give you. And they departed.
Matthew 20:5and they went away. `Again, having gone forth about the sixth and the ninth hour, he did in like manner.Again he went out about the sixth and the ninth hour, and did likewise. Again he went out about the sixth and ninth hour, and did likewise.
Matthew 20:6And about the eleventh hour, having gone forth, he found others standing idle, and saith to them, Why here have ye stood all the day idle?And about the eleventh [hour] he went out, and found others standing; and he saith unto them, Why stand ye here all the day idle? And about the eleventh hour he went out, and found others standing idle, and saith to them, Why stand ye here all the day idle?
Matthew 20:7they say to him, Because no one did hire us; he saith to them, Go ye ye also to the vineyard, and whatever may be righteous ye shall receive.They say unto him, Because no man hath hired us. He saith unto them, Go ye also into the vineyard. They say to him, Because no man hath hired us. He saith to them, Go ye also into the vineyard; and whatever is right, that shall ye receive.
Matthew 20:8`And evening having come, the lord of the vineyard saith to his steward, Call the workmen, and pay them the reward, having begun from the last unto the first.And when even was come, the lord of the vineyard saith unto his steward, Call the laborers, and pay them their hire, beginning from the last unto the first. So when evening was come, the lord of the vineyard saith to his steward, Call the laborers, and give them their hire, beginning from the last to the first.
Matthew 20:9And they of about the eleventh hour having come, did receive each a denary.And when they came that [were hired] about the eleventh hour, they received every man a shilling. And when they came that were hired about the eleventh hour, they received every man a penny.
Matthew 20:10`And the first having come, did suppose that they shall receive more, and they received, they also, each a denary,And when the first came, they supposed that they would receive more; and they likewise received every man a shilling. But when the first came, they supposed that they should receive more; and they likewise received every man a penny.
Matthew 20:11and having received [it], they were murmuring against the householder, saying,And when they received it, they murmured against the householder, And when they had received it, they murmured against the master of the house.
Matthew 20:12that These, the last, wrought one hour, and thou didst make them equal to us, who were bearing the burden of the day and the heat.saying, These last have spent [but] one hour, and thou hast made them equal unto us, who have borne the burden of the day and the scorching heat. Saying, These last have wrought but one hour, and thou hast made them equal to us, who have borne the burden and heat of the day.
Matthew 20:13`And he answering said to one of them, Comrade, I do no unrighteousness to thee; for a denary didst not thou agree with me?But he answered and said to one of them, Friend, I do thee no wrong: didst not thou agree with me for a shilling? But he answered one of them, and said, Friend, I do thee no wrong: didst thou not agree with me for a penny?
Matthew 20:14take that which is thine, and go; and I will to give to this, the last, also as to thee;Take up that which is thine, and go thy way; it is my will to give unto this last, even as unto thee. Take that which is thine, and depart: I will give to this last, even as to thee.
Matthew 20:15is it not lawful to me to do what I will in mine own? is thine eye evil because I am good?Is it not lawful for me to do what I will with mine own? or is thine eye evil, because I am good? Is it not lawful for me to do what I will with my own? is thy eye evil because I am good?
Matthew 20:16So the last shall be first, and the first last, for many are called, and few chosen.`So the last shall be first, and the first last. So the last shall be first, and the first last: for many are called, but few chosen.
Matthew 20:17And Jesus going up to Jerusalem, took the twelve disciples by themselves in the way, and said to them,And as Jesus was going up to Jerusalem, he took the twelve disciples apart, and on the way he said unto them, And Jesus going up to Jerusalem, took the twelve disciples apart in the way, and said to them,
Matthew 20:18`Lo, we go up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man shall be delivered to the chief priests and scribes,Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man shall be delivered unto the chief priests and scribes; and they shall condemn him to death, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man will be betrayed to the chief priests, and to the scribes, and they will condemn him to death,
Matthew 20:19and they shall condemn him to death, and shall deliver him to the nations to mock, and to scourge, and to crucify, and the third day he will rise again.`and shall deliver him unto the Gentiles to mock, and to scourge, and to crucify: and the third day he shall be raised up. And will deliver him to the Gentiles to mock, and to scourge, and to crucify him: and the third day he will rise again.
Matthew 20:20Then came near to him the mother of the sons of Zebedee, with her sons, bowing and asking something from him,Then came to him the mother of the sons of Zebedee with her sons, worshipping [him], and asking a certain thing of him. Then came to him the mother of Zebedee's children, with her sons, worshiping him, and desiring a certain thing of him.
Matthew 20:21and he said to her, `What wilt thou?` She saith to him, `Say, that they may sit these my two sons one on thy right hand, and one on the left, in thy reign.`And he said unto her, What wouldest thou? She saith unto him, Command that these my two sons may sit, one on thy right hand, and one on thy left hand, in thy kingdom. And he said to her, What wilt thou: She saith to him, Grant that these my two sons may sit, the one on thy right hand, and the other on the left in thy kingdom.
Matthew 20:22And Jesus answering said, `Ye have not known what ye ask for yourselves; are ye able to drink of the cup that I am about to drink? and with the baptism that I am baptized with, to be baptized?` They say to him, `We are able.`But Jesus answered and said, Ye know not what ye ask. Are ye able to drink the cup that I am about to drink? They say unto him, We are able. But Jesus answered and said, Ye know not what ye ask. Are ye able to drink of the cup that I shall drink of, and to be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with? They say to him, We are able.
Matthew 20:23And he saith to them, `Of my cup indeed ye shall drink, and with the baptism that I am baptized with ye shall be baptized; but to sit on my right hand and on my left is not mine to give, but to those for whom it hath been prepared by my father.`He saith unto them, My cup indeed ye shall drink: but to sit on my right hand, and on [my] left hand, is not mine to give; but [it is for them] for whom it hath been prepared of my Father. And he saith to them, Ye shall drink indeed of my cup, and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with: but to sit on my right hand, and on my left, is not mine to give, but it shall be given to them for whom it is prepared by my Father.
Matthew 20:24And the ten having heard, were much displeased with the two brothers,And when the ten heard it, they were moved with indignation concerning the two brethren. And when the ten heard it, they were moved with indignation against the two brethren.
Matthew 20:25and Jesus having called them near, said, `Ye have known that the rulers of the nations do exercise lordship over them, and those great do exercise authority over them,But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Ye know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great ones exercise authority over them. But Jesus called them to him, and said, Ye know that the princes of the Gentiles exercise dominion over them, and they that are great exercise authority upon them.
Matthew 20:26but not so shall it be among you, but whoever may will among you to become great, let him be your ministrant;Not so shall it be among you: but whosoever would become great among you shall be your minister; But it shall not be so among you: but whoever will be great among you, let him be your minister;
Matthew 20:27and whoever may will among you to be first, let him be your servant;and whosoever would be first among you shall be your servant: And whoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant:
Matthew 20:28even as the Son of Man did not come to be ministered to, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.`even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many. Matthew 20:29And they going forth from Jericho, there followed him a great multitude,And as they went out from Jericho, a great multitude followed him. And as they departed from Jericho, a great multitude followed him.
Matthew 20:30and lo, two blind men sitting by the way, having heard that Jesus doth pass by, cried, saying, `Deal kindly with us, sir Son of David.`And behold, two blind men sitting by the way side, when they heard that Jesus was passing by, cried out, saying, Lord, have mercy on us, thou son of David. And behold, two blind men sitting by the way-side, when they heard that Jesus passed by, cried out, saying, Have mercy on us, O Lord, thou son of David.
Matthew 20:31And the multitude charged them that they might be silent, and they cried out the more, saying, `Deal kindly with us sir Son of David.`And the multitude rebuked them, that they should hold their peace: but they cried out the more, saying, Lord, have mercy on us, thou son of David. And the multitude rebuked them, that they should hold their peace: but they cried the more, saying, Have mercy on us, O Lord, thou son of David.
Matthew 20:32And having stood, Jesus called them, and said, `What will ye [that] I may do to you?`And Jesus stood still, and called them, and said, What will ye that I should do unto you? And Jesus stood still, and called them, and said, What will ye that I shall do to you?
Matthew 20:33they say to him, `Sir, that our eyes may be opened;`They say unto him, Lord, that our eyes may be opened. They say to him, Lord, that our eyes may be opened.
Matthew 20:34and having been moved with compassion, Jesus touched their eyes, and immediately their eyes received sight, and they followed him.And Jesus, being moved with compassion, touched their eyes; and straightway they received their sight, and followed him. So Jesus had compassion on them, and touched their eyes: and immediately their eyes received sight, and they followed him.
