Acts 8:1 | And Saul was assenting to his death, and there came in that day a great persecution upon the assembly in Jerusalem, all also were scattered abroad in the regions of Judea and Samaria, except the apostles; | And Saul was consenting unto his death. And there arose on that day a great persecution against the church which was in Jerusalem; and they were all scattered abroad throughout the regions of Judaea and Samaria, except the apostles. | And Saul fully approved of his murder. At this time a great persecution broke out against the Church in Jerusalem, and all except the Apostles were scattered throughout Judaea and Samaria. |
Acts 8:2 | and devout men carried away Stephen, and made great lamentation over him; | And devout men buried Stephen, and made great lamentation over him. | A party of devout men, however, buried Stephen, and made loud lamentation over him. |
Acts 8:3 | and Saul was making havoc of the assembly, into every house entering, and haling men and women, was giving them up to prison; | But Saul laid waste the church, entering into every house, and dragging men and women committed them to prison. | But Saul cruelly harassed the Church. He went into house after house, and, dragging off both men and women, threw them into prison. |

Acts 8:7 | for unclean spirits came forth from many who were possessed, crying with a loud voice, and many who have been paralytic and lame were healed, | For [from] many of those that had unclean spirits, they came out, crying with a loud voice: and many that were palsied, and that were lame, were healed. | For, with a loud cry, foul spirits came out of many possessed by them, and many paralytics and lame persons were restored to health. |

Acts 8:9 | And a certain man, by name Simon, was before in the city using magic, and amazing the nation of Samaria, saying himself to be a certain great one, | But there was a certain man, Simon by name, who beforetime in the city used sorcery, and amazed the people of Samaria, giving out that himself was some great one: | Now for some time past there had been a man named Simon living there, who had been practising magic and astonishing the Samaritans, pretending that he was more than human. |
Acts 8:10 | to whom they were all giving heed, from small unto great, saying, `This one is the great power of God;` | to whom they all gave heed, from the least to the greatest, saying, This man is that power of God which is called Great. | To him people of all classes paid attention, declaring, "This man is the Power of God, known as the great Power." |
Acts 8:11 | and they were giving heed to him, because of his having for a long time amazed them with deeds of magic. | And they gave heed to him, because that of long time he had amazed them with his sorceries. | His influence over them arose from their having been, for a long time, bewildered by his sorceries. |

Acts 8:21 | thou hast neither part nor lot in this thing, for thy heart is not right before God; | Thou hast neither part nor lot in this matter: for thy heart is not right before God. | No part or lot have you in this matter, for your heart is not right in God's sight. |
Acts 8:22 | reform, therefore, from this thy wickedness, and beseech God, if then the purpose of thy heart may be forgiven thee, | Repent therefore of this thy wickedness, and pray the Lord, if perhaps the thought of thy heart shall be forgiven thee. | Repent, therefore, of this wickedness of yours, and pray to the Lord, in the hope that the purpose which is in your heart may perhaps be forgiven you. |
Acts 8:23 | for in the gall of bitterness, and bond of unrighteousness, I perceive thee being.` | For I see that thou art in the gall of bitterness and in the bond of iniquity. | For I perceive that you have fallen into the bitterest bondage of unrighteousness." |
Acts 8:24 | And Simon answering, said, `Beseech ye for me unto the Lord, that nothing may come upon me of the things ye have spoken.` | And Simon answered and said, Pray ye for me to the Lord, that none of the things which ye have spoken come upon me. | "Pray, both of you, to the Lord for me," answered Simon, "that nothing of what you have said may come upon me." |
Acts 8:25 | They indeed, therefore, having testified fully, and spoken the word of the Lord, did turn back to Jerusalem; in many villages also of the Samaritans they did proclaim good news. | They therefore, when they had testified and spoken the word of the Lord, returned to Jerusalem, and preached the gospel to many villages of the Samaritans. | So the Apostles, after giving a solemn charge and delivering the Lord's Message, travelled back to Jerusalem, making known the Good News also in many of the Samaritan villages. |
Acts 8:26 | And a messenger of the Lord spake unto Philip, saying, `Arise, and go on toward the south, on the way that is going down from Jerusalem to Gaza,` this is desert. | But an angel of the Lord spake unto Philip, saying, Arise, and go toward the south unto the way that goeth down from Jerusalem unto Gaza: the same is desert. | And an angel of the Lord said to Philip, "Rise and proceed south to the road that runs down from Jerusalem to Gaza, crossing the Desert." |

"Do you understand what you are reading?" he asked. |
Acts 8:31 | and he said, `Why, how am I able, if some one may not guide me?` he called Philip also, having come up, to sit with him. | And he said, How can I, except some one shall guide me? And he besought Philip to come up and sit with him. | "Why, how can I," replied the eunuch, "unless some one explains it to me?" And he earnestly invited Philip to come up and sit with him. |
Acts 8:32 | And the contents of the Writing that he was reading was this: `As a sheep unto slaughter he was led, and as a lamb before his shearer dumb, so he doth not open his mouth; | Now the passage of the Scripture which he was reading was this, He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; And as a lamb before his shearer is dumb, So he openeth not his mouth: | The passage of Scripture which he was reading was this: "Like a sheep He was led to slaughter, and just as a lamb before its shearer is dumb so He opened not His mouth. |
Acts 8:33 | in his humiliation his judgment was taken away, and his generation who shall declare? because taken from the earth is his life.` | In his humiliation his judgment was taken away: His generation who shall declare? Acts 8:35 | and Philip having opened his mouth, and having begun from this Writing, proclaimed good news to him Jesus. | And Philip opened his mouth, and beginning from this Scripture, preached unto him Jesus. | Then Philip began to speak, and, commencing with that same portion of Scripture, told him the Good News about Jesus. |
