Matthew 7:1 | `Judge not, that ye may not be judged, | Judge not, that ye be not judged. | "Judge not, that you may not be judged; |
Matthew 7:2 | for in what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged, and in what measure ye measure, it shall be measured to you. | For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured unto you. | for your own judgement will be dealt and your own measure meted to yourselves. |
Matthew 7:3 | `And why dost thou behold the mote that [is] in thy brother`s eye, and the beam that [is] in thine own eye dost not consider? | And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye? | And why do you look at the splinter in your brother's eye, and not notice the beam which is in your own eye? |
Matthew 7:4 | or, how wilt thou say to thy brother, Suffer I may cast out the mote from thine eye, and lo, the beam [is] in thine own eye? | Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me cast out the mote out of thine eye; and lo, the beam is in thine own eye? | Or how say to your brother, `Allow me to take the splinter out of your eye,' while the beam is in your own eye? |
Matthew 7:5 | Hypocrite, cast out first the beam out of thine own eye, and then thou shalt see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother`s eye. | Thou hypocrite, cast out first the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye. | Hypocrite, first take the beam out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly how to remove the splinter from your brother's eye. |
Matthew 7:6 | `Ye may not give that which is [holy] to the dogs, nor cast your pearls before the swine, that they may not trample them among their feet, and having turned may rend you. | Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast your pearls before the swine, lest haply they trample them under their feet, and turn and rend you. | "Give not that which is holy to the dogs, nor throw your pearls to the swine; otherwise they will trample them under their feet and then turn and attack you. |
Matthew 7:7 | `Ask, and it shall be given to you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened to you; | Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: | "Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened to you. |
Matthew 7:8 | for every one who is asking doth receive, and he who is seeking doth find, and to him who is knocking it shall be opened. | for every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. | For it is always he who asks that receives, he who seeks that finds, and he who knocks that has the door opened to him. |
Matthew 7:9 | `Or what man is of you, of whom, if his son may ask a loaf a stone will he present to him? | Or what man is there of you, who, if his son shall ask him for a loaf, will give him a stone; | What man is there among you, who if his son shall ask him for bread will offer him a stone? |
Matthew 7:10 | and if a fish he may ask a serpent will he present to him? | or if he shall ask for a fish, will give him a serpent? | Or if the son shall ask him for a fish will offer him a snake? |
Matthew 7:11 | if, therefore, ye being evil, have known good gifts to give to your children, how much more shall your Father who [is] in the heavens give good things to those asking him? | If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father who is in heaven give good things to them that ask him? | If you then, imperfect as you are, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in Heaven give good things to those who ask Him! |
Matthew 7:12 | `All things, therefore, whatever ye may will that men may be doing to you, so also do to them, for this is the law and the prophets. | All things therefore whatsoever ye would that men should do unto you, even so do ye also unto them: for this is the law and the prophets. | Everything, therefore, be it what it may, that you would have men do to you, do you also the same to them; for in this the Law and the Prophets are summed up. |
Matthew 7:13 | `Go ye in through the strait gate, because wide [is] the gate, and broad the way that is leading to the destruction, and many are those going in through it; | Enter ye in by the narrow gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many are they that enter in thereby. | "Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad the road which leads to ruin, and many there are who enter by it; |
Matthew 7:14 | how strait [is] the gate, and compressed the way that is leading to the life, and few are those finding it! | For narrow is the gate, and straitened the way, that leadeth unto life, and few are they that find it. | because narrow is the gate and contracted the road which leads to Life, and few are those who find it. |
Matthew 7:15 | `But, take heed of the false prophets, who come unto you in sheep`s clothing, and inwardly are ravening wolves. | Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly are ravening wolves. | "Beware of the false teachers men who come to you in sheep's fleeces, but beneath that disguise they are ravenous wolves. |
Matthew 7:16 | From their fruits ye shall know them; do [men] gather from thorns grapes? or from thistles figs? | By their fruits ye shall know them. Do [men] gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? | By their fruits you will easily recognize them. Are grapes gathered from thorns or figs from brambles? |
Matthew 7:17 | so every good tree doth yield good fruits, but the bad tree doth yield evil fruits. | Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but the corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. | Just so every good tree produces good fruit, but a poisonous tree produces bad fruit. |
Matthew 7:18 | A good tree is not able to yield evil fruits, nor a bad tree to yield good fruits. | A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. | A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor a poisonous tree good fruit. |
Matthew 7:19 | Every tree not yielding good fruit is cut down and is cast to fire: | Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. | Every tree which does not yield good fruit is cut down and thrown aside for burning. |
Matthew 7:20 | therefore from their fruits ye shall know them. | Therefore by their fruits ye shall know them. | So by their fruits at any rate, you will easily recognize them. |
Matthew 7:21 | `Not every one who is saying to me Lord, lord, shall come into the reign of the heavens; but he who is doing the will of my Father who is in the heavens. | Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father who is in heaven. | "Not every one who says to me, `Master, Master,' will enter the Kingdom of the Heavens, but only those who are obedient to my Father who is in Heaven. |
Matthew 7:22 | Many will say to me in that day, Lord, lord, have we not in thy name prophesied? and in thy name cast out demons? and in thy name done many mighty things? | Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy by thy name, and by thy name cast out demons, and by thy name do many mighty works? | Many will say to me on that day, "`Master, Master, have we not prophesied in Thy name, and in Thy name expelled demons, and in Thy name performed many mighty works?' |
Matthew 7:23 | and then I will acknowledge to them, that I never knew you, depart from me ye who are working lawlessness. | And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. | "And then I will tell them plainly, "`I never knew you: begone from me, you doers of wickedness.' |
Matthew 7:24 | `Therefore, every one who doth hear of me these words, and doth do them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house upon the rock; | Every one therefore that heareth these words of mine, and doeth them, shall be likened unto a wise man, who built his house upon the rock: | "Every one who hears these my teachings and acts upon them will be found to resemble a wise man who builds his house upon rock; |
Matthew 7:25 | and the rain did descend, and the streams came, and the winds blew, and they beat on that house, and it fell not, for it had been founded on the rock. | and the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and if fell not: for it was founded upon the rock. | and the heavy rain falls, the swollen torrents come, and the winds blow and beat against the house; yet it does not fall, for its foundation is on rock. |
Matthew 7:26 | `And every one who is hearing of me these words, and is not doing them, shall be likened to a foolish man who built his house upon the sand; | And every one that heareth these words of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, who built his house upon the sand: | And every one who hears these my teachings and does not act upon them will be found to resemble a fool who builds his house upon sand. |
Matthew 7:27 | and the rain did descend, and the streams came, and the winds blew, and they beat on that house, and it fell, and its fall was great.` | and the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and smote upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall thereof. | The heavy rain descends, the swollen torrents come, and the winds blow and burst upon the house, and it falls; and disastrous is the fall." |
Matthew 7:28 | And it came to pass, when Jesus ended these words, the multitudes were astonished at his teaching, | And it came to pass, when Jesus had finished these words, the multitudes were astonished at his teaching: | When Jesus had concluded this discourse, the crowds were filled with amazement at His teaching, |
Matthew 7:29 | for he was teaching them as having authority, and not as the scribes. | for he taught them as [one] having authority, and not as their scribes. | for He had been teaching them as one who had authority, and not as their Scribes taught. |
