Philippians 3:1 | As to the rest, my brethren, rejoice in the Lord; the same things to write to you to me indeed is not tiresome, and for you [is] sure; | Finally, my brethren, rejoice in the Lord. To write the same things to you, to me indeed is not irksome, but for you it is safe. | In conclusion, my brethren, be joyful in the Lord. For me to give you the same warnings as before is not irksome to me, while so far as you are concerned it is a safe precaution. |
Philippians 3:2 | look to the dogs, look to the evil-workers, look to the concision; | Beware of the dogs, beware of the evil workers, beware of the concision: | Beware of `the dogs,' the bad workmen, the self-mutilators. |
Philippians 3:3 | for we are the circumcision, who by the Spirit are serving God, and glorying in Christ Jesus, and in flesh having no trust, | for we are the circumcision, who worship by the Spirit of God, and glory in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh: | For we are the true circumcision we who render to God a spiritual worship and make our boast in Christ Jesus and have no confidence in outward ceremonies: |
Philippians 3:4 | though I also have [cause of] trust in flesh. If any other one doth think to have trust in flesh, I more; | though I myself might have confidence even in the flesh: if any other man thinketh to have confidence in the flesh, I yet more: | although I myself might have some excuse for confidence in outward ceremonies. If any one else claims a right to trust in them, far more may I: |
Philippians 3:5 | circumcision on the eighth day! of the race of Israel! of the tribe of Benjamin! a Hebrew of Hebrews! according to law a Pharisee! | circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of Hebrews; as touching the law, a Pharisee; | circumcised, as I was, on the eighth day, a member of the race of Israel and of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew sprung from Hebrews; as to the Law a Pharisee; |
Philippians 3:6 | according to zeal persecuting the assembly! according to righteousness that is in law becoming blameless! | as touching zeal, persecuting the church; as touching the righteousness which is in the law, found blameless. | as to zeal, a persecutor of the Church; as to the righteousness which comes through Law, blameless. |
Philippians 3:7 | But what things were to me gains, these I have counted, because of the Christ, loss; | Howbeit what things were gain to me, these have I counted loss for Christ. | Yet all that was gain to me for Christ's sake I have reckoned it loss. |
Philippians 3:8 | yes, indeed, and I count all things to be loss, because of the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, because of whom of the all things I suffered loss, and do count them to be refuse, that Christ I may gain, and be found in him, | Yea verily, and I count all things to be loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but refuse, that I may gain Christ, | Nay, I even reckon all things as pure loss because of the priceless privilege of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. And for His sake I have suffered the loss of everything, and reckon it all as mere refuse, in order that I may win Christ and be found in union with Him, |
Philippians 3:9 | not having my righteousness, which [is] of law, but that which [is] through faith of Christ the righteousness that is of God by the faith, | and be found in him, not having a righteousness of mine own, [even] that which is of the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith: | not having a righteousness of my own, derived from the Law, but that which arises from faith in Christ the righteousness which comes from God through faith. |
Philippians 3:10 | to know him, and the power of his rising again, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being conformed to his death, | that I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, becoming conformed unto his death; | I long to know Christ and the power which is in His resurrection, and to share in His sufferings and die even as He died; |
Philippians 3:11 | if anyhow I may attain to the rising again of the dead. | if by any means I may attain unto the resurrection from the dead. | in the hope that I may attain to the resurrection from among the dead. |
Philippians 3:12 | Not that I did already obtain, or have been already perfected; but I pursue, if also I may lay hold of that for which also I was laid hold of by the Christ Jesus; | Not that I have already obtained, or am already made perfect: but I press on, if so be that I may lay hold on that for which also I was laid hold on by Christ Jesus. | I do not say that I have already won the race or have already reached perfection. But I am pressing on, striving to lay hold of the prize for which also Christ has laid hold of me. |
Philippians 3:13 | brethren, I do not reckon myself to have laid hold; and one thing the things behind indeed forgetting, and to the things before stretching forth | Brethren, I could not myself yet to have laid hold: but one thing [I do], forgetting the things which are behind, and stretching forward to the things which are before, | Brethren, I do not imagine that I have yet laid hold of it. But this one thing I do forgetting everything which is past and stretching forward to what lies in front of me, |
Philippians 3:14 | to the mark I pursue for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. | I press on toward the goal unto the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. | with my eyes fixed on the goal I push on to secure the prize of God's heavenward call in Christ Jesus. |
Philippians 3:15 | As many, therefore, as [are] perfect let us think this, and if [in] anything ye think otherwise, this also shall God reveal to you, | Let us therefore, as many as are perfect, be thus minded: and if in anything ye are otherwise minded, this also shall God reveal unto you: | Therefore let all of us who are mature believers cherish these thoughts; and if in any respect you think differently, that also God will make clear to you. |
Philippians 3:16 | but to what we have come by the same rule walk, the same thing think; | only, whereunto we have attained, by that same [rule] let us walk. | But whatever be the point that we have already reached, let us persevere in the same course. |
Philippians 3:17 | become followers together of me, brethren, and observe those thus walking, according as ye have us a pattern; | Brethren, be ye imitators together of me, and mark them that so walk even as ye have us for an ensample. | Brethren, vie with one another in imitating me, and carefully observe those who follow the example which we have set you. |
Philippians 3:18 | for many walk of whom many times I told you and now also weeping tell the enemies of the cross of the Christ! | For many walk, of whom I told you often, and now tell you even weeping, [that they are] the enemies of the cross of Christ: | For there are many whom I have often described to you, and I now even with tears describe them, as being enemies to the Cross of Christ. |
Philippians 3:19 | whose end [is] destruction, whose god [is] the belly, and whose glory [is] in their shame, who the things on earth are minding. | whose end is perdition, whose god is the belly, and [whose] glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things. | Their end is destruction, their bellies are their God, their glory is in their shame, and their minds are devoted to earthly things. |
Philippians 3:20 | For our citizenship is in the heavens, whence also a Saviour we await the Lord Jesus Christ | For our citizenship is in heaven; whence also we wait for a Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ: | We, however, are free citizens of Heaven, and we are waiting with longing expectation for the coming from Heaven of a Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ, |
Philippians 3:21 | who shall transform the body of our humiliation to its becoming conformed to the body of his glory, according to the working of his power, even to subject to himself the all things. | who shall fashion anew the body of our humiliation, [that it may be] conformed to the body of his glory, according to the working whereby he is able even to subject all things unto himself. | who, in the exercise of the power which He has even to subject all things to Himself, will transform this body of our humiliation until it resembles His own glorious body. |
