Matthew 15:1Then come unto Jesus do they from Jerusalem scribes and Pharisees saying,Then there come to Jesus from Jerusalem Pharisees and scribes, saying, Then Pharisees and scribes come to Jesus from Jerusalem, saying,
Matthew 15:2`Wherefore do thy disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? for they do not wash their hands when they may eat bread.`Why do thy disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? for they wash not their hands when they eat bread. "Why do your disciples disobey the tradition of the elders? For they don't wash their hands when they eat bread."
Matthew 15:3And he answering said to them, `Wherefore also do ye transgress the command of God because of your tradition?And he answered and said unto them, Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God because of your tradition? He answered them, "Why do you also disobey the commandment of God because of your tradition?
Matthew 15:4for God did command, saying, Honour thy father and mother; and, He who is speaking evil of father or mother let him die the death;For God said, Honor thy father and thy mother: and, He that speaketh evil of father or mother, let him die the death. For God commanded, 'Honor your father and your mother,' and, 'He who speaks evil of father or mother, let him be put to death.'
Matthew 15:5but ye say, Whoever may say to father or mother, An offering [is] whatever thou mayest be profited by me;But ye say, whosoever shall say to his father or his mother, That wherewith thou mightest have been profited by me is given [to God]; But you say, 'Whoever will tell his father or his mother, "Whatever help you might otherwise have gotten from me is a gift devoted to God,"
Matthew 15:6and he may not honour his father or his mother, and ye did set aside the command of God because of your tradition.he shall not honor his father. And ye have made void the word of God because of your tradition. he will not honor his father or mother.' You have made the commandment of God void because of your tradition.
Matthew 15:7`Hypocrites, well did Isaiah prophesy of you, saying,Ye hypocrites, well did Isaiah prophesy of you, saying, You hypocrites! Well did Isaiah prophesy of you, saying,
Matthew 15:8This people doth draw nigh to Me with their mouth, and with the lips it doth honour Me, but their heart is far off from Me;This people honoreth me with their lips; But their heart is far from me. 'These people draw near to me with their mouth, And honor me with their lips; But their heart is far from me.
Matthew 15:9and in vain do they worship Me, teaching teachings commands of men.`But in vain do they worship me, Teaching [as their] doctrines the precepts of men. But in vain do they worship me, Teaching as doctrine rules made by men.'"
Matthew 15:10And having called near the multitude, he said to them, `Hear and understand:And he called to him the multitude, and said unto them, Hear, and understand: He called the multitude to himself, and said to them, "Hear, and understand.
Matthew 15:11not that which is coming into the mouth doth defile the man, but that which is coming forth from the mouth, this defileth the man.`Not that which entereth into the mouth defileth the man; but that which proceedeth out of the mouth, this defileth the man. That which enters into the mouth doesn't defile the man; but that which proceeds out of the mouth, this defiles the man."
Matthew 15:12Then his disciples having come near, said to him, `Hast thou known that the Pharisees, having heard the word, were stumbled?`Then came the disciples, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the Pharisees were offended, when they heard this saying? Then the disciples came, and said to him, "Do you know that the Pharisees were offended, when they heard this saying?"
Matthew 15:13And he answering said, `Every plant that my heavenly Father did not plant shall be rooted up;But he answered and said, Every plant which my heavenly Father planted not, shall be rooted up. But he answered, "Every plant which my heavenly Father didn't plant will be uprooted.
Matthew 15:14let them alone, guides they are blind of blind; and if blind may guide blind, both into a ditch shall fall.`Let them alone: they are blind guides. And if the blind guide the blind, both shall fall into a pit. Let them alone. They are blind guides of the blind. If the blind guide the blind, both will fall into a pit."
Matthew 15:15And Peter answering said to him, `Explain to us this simile.`And Peter answered and said unto him, Declare unto us the parable. Peter answered him, "Explain the parable to us."
Matthew 15:16And Jesus said, `Are ye also yet without understanding?And he said, Are ye also even yet without understanding? So Jesus said, "Do you also still not understand?
Matthew 15:17do ye not understand that all that is going into the mouth doth pass into the belly, and into the drain is cast forth?Perceive ye not, that whatsoever goeth into the mouth passeth into the belly, and is cast out into the draught? Don't you understand that whatever goes into the mouth passes into the belly, and then out of the body?
Matthew 15:18but the things coming forth from the mouth from the heart do come forth, and these defile the man;But the things which proceed out of the mouth come forth out of the heart; and they defile the man. But the things which proceed out of the mouth come forth out of the heart, and they defile the man.
Matthew 15:19for out of the heart come forth evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, whoredoms, thefts, false witnessings, evil speakings:For out of the heart come forth evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, railings: For out of the heart come forth evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, sexual sins, thefts, false testimony, and blasphemies.
Matthew 15:20these are the things defiling the man; but to eat with unwashen hands doth not defile the man.`these are the things which defile the man; but to eat with unwashen hands defileth not the man. These are the things which defile the man; but to eat with unwashed hands doesn't defile the man."
Matthew 15:21And Jesus having come forth thence, withdrew to the parts of Tyre and Sidon,And Jesus went out thence, and withdrew into the parts of Tyre and Sidon. Jesus went out from there, and withdrew into the parts of Tyre and Sidon.
Matthew 15:22and lo, a woman, a Canaanitess, from those borders having come forth, did call to him, saying, `Deal kindly with me, Sir Son of David; my daughter is miserably demonized.`And behold, a Canaanitish woman came out from those borders, and cried, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a demon. Behold, a Canaanite woman came out from those borders, and cried, saying, "Have mercy on me, Lord, you son of David. My daughter is grievously vexed with a demon."
Matthew 15:23And he did not answer her a word; and his disciples having come to him, were asking him, saying `Let her away, because she crieth after us;`But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us. But he answered her not a word. His disciples came and begged him, saying, "Send her away; for she cries after us."
Matthew 15:24and he answering said, `I was not sent except to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.`But he answered and said, I was not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel. But he answered, "I wasn't sent to anyone but the lost sheep of the house of Israel."
Matthew 15:25And having come, she was bowing to him, saying, `Sir, help me;`But she came and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me. But she came and worshipped him, saying, "Lord, help me."
Matthew 15:26and he answering said, `It is not good to take the children`s bread, and to cast to the little dogs.`And he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children's bread and cast it to the dogs. But he answered, "It is not appropriate to take the children's bread and throw it to the dogs."
Matthew 15:27And she said, `Yes, sir, for even the little dogs do eat of the crumbs that are falling from their lords` table;`But she said, Yea, Lord: for even the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters' table. But she said, "Yes, Lord, but even the dogs eat the crumbs which fall from their masters' table."
Matthew 15:28then answering, Jesus said to her, `O woman, great [is] thy faith, let it be to thee as thou wilt;` and her daughter was healed from that hour.Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it done unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was healed from that hour. Then Jesus answered her, "Woman, great is your faith! Be it done to you even as you desire." And her daughter was healed from that hour.
Matthew 15:29And Jesus having passed thence, came nigh unto the sea of Galilee, and having gone up to the mountain, he was sitting there,And Jesus departed thence, and came nigh unto the sea of Galilee; and he went up into the mountain, and sat there. Jesus departed there, and came near to the sea of Galilee; and he went up into the mountain, and sat there.
Matthew 15:30and there came to him great multitudes, having with them lame, blind, dumb, maimed, and many others, and they did cast them at the feet of Jesus, and he healed them,And there came unto him great multitudes, having with them the lame, blind, dumb, maimed, and many others, and they cast them down at this feet; and he healed them: There came to him great multitudes, having with them the lame, blind, mute, maimed, and many others, and they put them down at his feet. He healed them,
Matthew 15:31so that the multitudes did wonder, seeing dumb ones speaking, maimed whole, lame walking, and blind seeing; and they glorified the God of Israel.insomuch that the multitude wondered, when they saw the dumb speaking, the maimed whole, and lame walking, and the blind seeing: and they glorified the God of Israel. so that the multitude wondered, when they saw the mute speaking, the injured whole, lame walking, and the blind seeing and they glorified the God of Israel.
Matthew 15:32And Jesus having called near his disciples, said, `I have compassion upon the multitude, because now three days they continue with me, and they have not what they may eat; and to let them away fasting I will not, lest they faint in the way.`And Jesus called unto him his disciples, and said, I have compassion on the multitude, because they continue with me now three days and have nothing to eat: and I would not send them away fasting, lest haply they faint on the way. Jesus called his disciples to him, and said, "I have compassion on the multitude, because they continue with me now three days and have nothing to eat. I don't want to send them away fasting, or they might faint on the way."
Matthew 15:33And his disciples say to him, `Whence to us, in a wilderness, so many loaves, as to fill so great a multitude?`And the disciples say unto him, Whence should we have so many loaves in a desert place as to fill so great a multitude? The disciples said to him, "Where should we get so many loaves in a desert place as to fill so great a multitude?"
Matthew 15:34And Jesus saith to them, `How many loaves have ye?` and they said, `Seven, and a few little fishes.`And Jesus said unto them, How many loaves have ye? And they said, Seven, and a few small fishes. Jesus said to them, "How many loaves do you have?" They said, "Seven, and a few small fish."
Matthew 15:35And he commanded the multitudes to sit down upon the ground,And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the ground; He commanded the multitude to sit down on the ground;
Matthew 15:36and having taken the seven loaves and the fishes, having given thanks, he did break, and gave to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude.and he took the seven loaves and the fishes; and he gave thanks and brake, and gave to the disciples, and the disciples to the multitudes. and he took the seven loaves and the fish. He gave thanks and broke them, and gave to the disciples, and the disciples to the multitudes.
Matthew 15:37And they did all eat, and were filled, and they took up what was over of the broken pieces seven baskets full,And they all ate, and were filled: and they took up that which remained over of the broken pieces, seven baskets full.
