Genesis 35:1And God saith unto Jacob, `Rise, go up to Bethel, and dwell there, and make there an altar to God, who appeared unto thee in thy fleeing from the face of Esau thy brother.`And God said to Jacob, Go up now to Beth-el and make your living-place there: and put up an altar there to the God who came to you when you were in flight from your brother Esau.And God said unto Jacob, Arise, go up to Beth-el, and dwell there: and make there an altar unto God, who appeared unto thee when thou fleddest from the face of Esau thy brother.
Genesis 35:2And Jacob saith unto his household, and unto all who [are] with him, `Turn aside the gods of the stranger which [are] in your midst, and cleanse yourselves, and change your garments;Then Jacob said to all his people, Put away the strange gods which are among you, and make yourselves clean, and put on a change of clothing:Then Jacob said unto his household, and to all that were with him, Put away the foreign gods that are among you, and purify yourselves, and change your garments:
Genesis 35:3and we rise, and go up to Bethel, and I make there an altar to God, who is answering me in the day of my distress, and is with me in the way that I have gone.`And let us go up to Beth-el: and there I will make an altar to God, who gave me an answer in the day of my trouble, and was with me wherever I went.and let us arise, and go up to Beth-el; and I will make there an altar unto God, who answered me in the day of my distress, and was with me in the way which I went.
Genesis 35:4And they give unto Jacob all the gods of the stranger that [are] in their hand, and the rings that [are] in their ears, and Jacob hideth them under the oak which [is] by Shechem;Then they gave to Jacob all the strange gods which they had, and the rings which were in their ears; and Jacob put them away under the holy tree at Shechem.And they gave unto Jacob all the foreign gods which were in their hand, and the rings which were in their ears; and Jacob hid them under the oak which was by Shechem.
Genesis 35:5and they journey, and the terror of God is on the cities which [are] round about them, and they have not pursued after the sons of Jacob.So they went on their journey: and the fear of God was on the towns round about, so that they made no attack on the sons of Jacob.And they journeyed: and a terror of God was upon the cities that were round about them, and they did not pursue after the sons of Jacob.
Genesis 35:6And Jacob cometh in to Luz which [is] in the land of Canaan (it [is] Bethel), he and all the people who [are] with him,And Jacob came to Luz in the land of Canaan (which is the same as Beth-el), he and all his people.So Jacob came to Luz, which is in the land of Canaan (the same is Beth-el), he and all the people that were with him.
Genesis 35:7and he buildeth there an altar, and proclaimeth at the place the God of Bethel: for there had God been revealed unto him, in his fleeing from the face of his brother.And there he made an altar, naming the place El-beth-el: because it was there he had the vision of God when he was in flight from his brother.And he built there an altar, and called the place El-beth-el; because there God was revealed unto him, when he fled from the face of his brother.
Genesis 35:8And Deborah, Rebekah`s nurse, dieth, and she is buried at the lower part of Bethel, under the oak, and he calleth its name `Oak of weeping.`And Deborah, the servant who had taken care of Rebekah from her birth, came to her end, and was put to rest near Beth-el, under the holy tree: and they gave it the name of Allon-bacuth.And Deborah Rebekah's nurse died, and she was buried below Beth-el under the oak: and the name of it was called Allon-bacuth.
Genesis 35:9And God appeareth unto Jacob again, in his coming from Padan-Aram, and blesseth him;Now when Jacob was on his way from Paddan-aram, God came to him again and, blessing him, said,And God appeared unto Jacob again, when he came from Paddan-aram, and blessed him.
Genesis 35:10and God saith to him, `Thy name [is] Jacob: thy name is no more called Jacob, but Israel is thy name;` and He calleth his name Israel.Jacob is your name, but it will be so no longer; from now your name will be Israel; so he was named Israel.And God said unto him, Thy name is Jacob: thy name shall not be called any more Jacob, but Israel shall be thy name: and he called his name Israel.
Genesis 35:11And God saith to him, `I [am] God Almighty; be fruitful and multiply, a nation and an assembly of nations is from thee, and kings from thy loins go out;And God said to him, I am God, the Ruler of all: be fertile, and have increase; a nation, truly a group of nations, will come from you, and kings will be your offspring;And God said unto him, I am God Almighty: be fruitful and multiply; a nation and a company of nations shall be of thee, and kings shall come out of thy loins;
Genesis 35:12and the land which I have given to Abraham and to Isaac to thee I give it, yea to thy seed after thee I give the land.`And the land which I gave to Abraham and Isaac, I will give to you; and to your seed after you I will give the land.and the land which I gave unto Abraham and Isaac, to thee I will give it, and to thy seed after thee will I give the land.
Genesis 35:13And God goeth up from him, in the place where He hath spoken with him.Then God went up from him in the place where he had been talking with him.And God went up from him in the place where he spake with him.
Genesis 35:14And Jacob setteth up a standing pillar in the place where He hath spoken with him, a standing pillar of stone, and he poureth on it an oblation, and he poureth on it oil;And Jacob put up a pillar in the place where he had been talking with God, and put a drink offering on it, and oil.And Jacob set up a pillar in the place where he spake with him, a pillar of stone: and he poured out a drink-offering thereon, and poured oil thereon.
Genesis 35:15and Jacob calleth the name of the place where God spake with him Bethel.And he gave to the place where God had been talking with him, the name of Beth-el.And Jacob called the name of the place where God spake with him, Beth-el.
Genesis 35:16And they journey from Bethel, and there is yet a kibrath of land before entering Ephratha, and Rachel beareth, and is sharply pained in her bearing;So they went on from Beth-el; and while they were still some distance from Ephrath, the pains of birth came on Rachel and she had a hard time.And they journeyed from Beth-el; and there was still some distance to come to Ephrath: and Rachel travailed, and she had hard labor.
Genesis 35:17and it cometh to pass, in her being sharply pained in her bearing, that the midwife saith to her, `Fear not, for this also [is] a son for thee.`And when her pain was very great, the woman who was helping her said, Have no fear; for now you will have another son.And it came to pass, when she was in hard labor, that the midwife said unto her, Fear not; for now thou shalt have another son.
Genesis 35:18And it cometh to pass in the going out of her soul (for she died), that she calleth his name Ben-Oni; and his father called him Benjamin;And in the hour when her life went from her (for death came to her), she gave the child the name Ben-oni: but his father gave him the name of Benjamin.And it came to pass, as her soul was departing (for she died), that she called his name Ben-oni: but his father called him Benjamin.
Genesis 35:19and Rachel dieth, and is buried in the way to Ephratha, which [is] Bethlehem,So Rachel came to her end and was put to rest on the road to Ephrath (which is Beth-lehem).And Rachel died, and was buried in the way to Ephrath (the same is Beth-lehem).
Genesis 35:20and Jacob setteth up a standing pillar over her grave; which [is] the standing pillar of Rachel`s grave unto this day.And Jacob put up a pillar on her resting-place; which is named, The Pillar of the resting-place of Rachel, to this day.And Jacob set up a pillar upon her grave: the same is the Pillar of Rachel's grave unto this day.
Genesis 35:21And Israel journeyeth, and stretcheth out his tent beyond the tower of Edar;And Israel went journeying on and put up his tents on the other side of the tower of the flock.And Israel journeyed, and spread his tent beyond the tower of Eder.
Genesis 35:22and it cometh to pass in Israel`s dwelling in that land, that Reuben goeth, and lieth with Bilhah his father`s concubine; and Israel heareth.Now while they were living in that country, Reuben had connection with Bilhah, his father's servant-woman: and Israel had news of it.And it came to pass, while Israel dwelt in that land, that Reuben went and lay with Bilhah his father's concubine: and Israel heard of it. Now the sons of Jacob were twelve:
Genesis 35:23And the sons of Jacob are twelve. Sons of Leah: Jacob`s first-born Reuben, and Simeon, and Levi, and Judah, and Issachar, and Zebulun.Now Jacob had twelve sons: the sons of Leah: Reuben, Jacob's first son, and Simeon and Levi and Judah and Issachar and Zebulun;The sons of Leah: Reuben, Jacob's first-born, and Simeon, and Levi, and Judah, and Issachar, and Zebulun;
Genesis 35:24Sons of Rachel: Joseph and Benjamin.The sons of Rachel: Joseph and Benjamin;the sons of Rachel: Joseph and Benjamin;
Genesis 35:25And sons of Bilhah, Rachel`s maid-servant: Dan and Naphtali.The sons of Bilhah, Rachel's servant: Dan and Naphtali;and the sons of Bilhah, Rachel's handmaid: Dan and Naphtali;
Genesis 35:26And sons of Zilpah, Leah`s maid-servant: Gad and Asher. These [are] sons of Jacob, who have been born to him in Padan-Aram.The sons of Zilpah, Leah's servant: Gad and Asher; these are the sons whom Jacob had in Paddan-aram.and the sons of Zilpah, Leah's handmaid: Gad and Asher: these are the sons of Jacob, that were born to him in Paddan-aram.
Genesis 35:27And Jacob cometh unto Isaac his father, at Mamre, the city of Arba (which [is] Hebron), where Abraham and Isaac have sojourned.And Jacob came to his father Isaac at Mamre, at Kiriath-arba, that is, Hebron, where Abraham and Isaac had been living.And Jacob came unto Isaac his father to Mamre, to Kiriath-arba (the same is Hebron), where Abraham and Isaac sojourned.
Genesis 35:28And the days of Isaac are a hundred and eighty years,And Isaac was a hundred and eighty years old.And the days of Isaac were a hundred and fourscore years.
Genesis 35:29and Isaac expireth, and dieth, and is gathered unto his people, aged and satisfied with days; and bury him do Esau and Jacob his sons.Then Isaac came to his end and was put to rest with his father's people, an old man after a long life: and Jacob and Esau, his sons, put him in his last resting-place.And Isaac gave up the ghost, and died, and was gathered unto his people, old and full of days: and Esau and Jacob his sons buried him.
