| Numbers 8:1 | And Jehovah speaketh unto Moses, saying, | And the Lord said to Moses, | And Jehovah spoke to Moses saying, |
| Numbers 8:2 | `Speak unto Aaron, and thou hast said unto him, In thy causing the lights to go up, over-against the face of the candlestick do the seven lights give light.` | Say to Aaron, When you put the lights in their places, the seven lights will give light in front of the support. | Speak unto Aaron, and say unto him, When thou lightest the lamps, the seven lamps shall give light over against the candlestick. |
| Numbers 8:3 | And Aaron doth so; over-against the face of the candlestick he hath caused its lights to go up, as Jehovah hath commanded Moses. | And Aaron did so; he put the lights in their places so that they gave light in front of the support, as the Lord gave orders to Moses. | And Aaron did so; he lighted the lamps thereof over against the candlestick, as Jehovah had commanded Moses. |
| Numbers 8:4 | And this [is] the work of the candlestick: beaten work of gold; unto its thigh, unto its flower it [is] beaten work; as the appearance which Jehovah shewed Moses, so he hath made the candlestick. | The support for the lights was of hammered gold work, from its base to its flowers it was of hammered work; from the design which the Lord had given to Moses, he made the support for the lights. | And this was the work of the candlestick: [it was] of beaten gold; from its base to its flowers was it beaten work; according to the form which Jehovah had shewn Moses, so had he made the candlestick. |

| Numbers 8:6 | `Take the Levites from the midst of the sons of Israel, and thou hast cleansed them. | Take the Levites out from among the children of Israel and make them clean. | Take the Levites from among the children of Israel, and cleanse them. |
| Numbers 8:7 | `And thus thou dost to them to cleanse them: sprinkle upon them waters of atonement, and they have caused a razor to pass over all their flesh, and have washed their garments, and cleansed themselves, | And this is how you are to make them clean: let the holy water which takes away sin be put on them, and let the hair all over their bodies be cut off with a sharp blade, and let their clothing be washed and their bodies made clean. | And thus shalt thou do unto them, to cleanse them: sprinkle upon them water of purification from sin; and they shall pass the razor over all their flesh, and shall wash their garments, and make themselves clean. |
| Numbers 8:8 | and have taken a bullock, a son of the herd, and its present, flour mixed with oil, and a second bullock a son of the herd thou dost take for a sin-offering, | Then let them take a young ox and its meal offering, crushed grain mixed with oil, and take another ox for a sin-offering. | And they shall take a young bullock and its oblation of fine flour mingled with oil; and another young bullock shalt thou take for a sin-offering. |
| Numbers 8:9 | and thou hast brought near the Levites before the tent of meeting, and thou hast assembled the whole company of the sons of Israel, | And make the Levites come forward in front of the Tent of meeting, and let all the children of Israel come together: | And thou shalt bring the Levites before the tent of meeting; and thou shalt gather together the whole assembly of the children of Israel. |
| Numbers 8:10 | and thou hast brought near the Levites before Jehovah, and the sons of Israel have laid their hands on the Levites, | And you are to take the Levites before the Lord: and the children of Israel are to put their hands on them: | And thou shalt bring the Levites before Jehovah; and the children of Israel shall put their hands upon the Levites. |
| Numbers 8:11 | and Aaron hath waved the Levites a wave-offering before Jehovah, from the sons of Israel, and they have been for doing the service of Jehovah. | And Aaron is to give the Levites to the Lord as a wave offering from the children of Israel, so that they may do the Lord's work. | And Aaron shall offer the Levites as a wave-offering before Jehovah from the children of Israel, and they shall perform the service of Jehovah. |
| Numbers 8:12 | `And the Levites lay their hands on the head of the bullocks, and make thou the one a sin-offering, and the one a burnt-offering to Jehovah, to atone for the Levites, | And the Levites are to put their hands on the heads of the oxen, and one of the oxen is to be offered for a sin-offering and the other for a burned offering to the Lord to take away the sin of the Levites. | And the Levites shall lay their hands upon the heads of the bullocks, and thou shalt offer the one for a sin-offering, and the other for a burnt-offering, to Jehovah, to make atonement for the Levites. |
| Numbers 8:13 | and thou hast caused the Levites to stand before Aaron, and before his sons, and hast waved them a wave-offering to Jehovah; | Then the Levites are to be put before Aaron and his sons, to be offered as a wave offering to the Lord. | And thou shalt set the Levites before Aaron, and before his sons, and offer them as a wave-offering to Jehovah. |
| Numbers 8:14 | and thou hast separated the Levites from the midst of the sons of Israel, and the Levites have become Mine; | So you are to make the Levites separate from the children of Israel, and the Levites will be mine. | And thou shalt separate the Levites from among the children of Israel, that the Levites may be mine. |
| Numbers 8:15 | and afterwards do the Levites come in to serve the tent of meeting, and thou hast cleansed them, and hast waved them a wave-offering. | After that, the Levites will go in to do whatever has to be done in the Tent of meeting; you are to make them clean and give them as a wave offering. | And afterwards shall the Levites come in to do the service of the tent of meeting. And thou shalt cleanse them, and offer them as a wave-offering. |
| Numbers 8:16 | `For they are certainly given to Me out of the midst of the sons of Israel, instead of him who openeth any womb the first-born of all from the sons of Israel I have taken them to Myself; | For they have been given to me from among the children of Israel; in place of every mother's first son, the first to come to birth in Israel, I have taken them for myself. | For they are wholly given unto me from among the children of Israel; instead of every one that breaketh open the womb, instead of every firstborn among the children of Israel, have I taken them unto me. |
| Numbers 8:17 | for Mine [is] every first-born among the sons of Israel, among man and among beast; in the day of my smiting every first-born in the land of Egypt I sanctified them for Myself; | For every mother's first son among the children of Israel is mine, the first male birth of man or beast: on the day when I sent death on all the first sons in the land of Egypt, I made them mine. | For all the firstborn among the children of Israel are mine, both of man and beast; on the day that I smote every firstborn in the land of Egypt, I hallowed them to myself. |
| Numbers 8:18 | and I take the Levites instead of every first-born among the sons of Israel: | And in place of the first sons among the children of Israel, I have taken the Levites. | And I have taken the Levites instead of all the firstborn among the children of Israel. |
| Numbers 8:19 | `And I give the Levites gifts to Aaron and to his sons, from the midst of the sons of Israel, to do the service of the sons of Israel in the tent of meeting, and to make atonement for the sons of Israel, and there is no plague among the sons of Israel in the sons of Israel`s drawing nigh unto the sanctuary.` | And I have given them to Aaron and to his sons, from among the children of Israel, to undertake for them all the work of the Tent of meeting, and to take away sin from the children of Israel so that no evil may come on them when they come near the holy place. | And I have given the Levites as a gift to Aaron and to his sons, from among the children of Israel, to perform the service of the children of Israel in the tent of meeting, and to make atonement for the children of Israel; that there be no plague among the children of Israel, when the children of Israel draw near to the sanctuary. |
| Numbers 8:20 | And Moses doth Aaron also, and all the company of the sons of Israel to the Levites according to all that Jehovah hath commanded Moses concerning the Levites; so have the sons of Israel done to them. | All these things Moses and Aaron and the children of Israel did to the Levites; as the Lord gave orders to Moses about the Levites, so the children of Israel did. | And Moses and Aaron, and all the assembly of the children of Israel, did to the Levites according to all that Jehovah had commanded Moses concerning the Levites: so did the children of Israel to them. |
| Numbers 8:21 | And the Levites cleanse themselves, and wash their garments, and Aaron waveth them a wave-offering before Jehovah, and Aaron maketh atonement for them to cleanse them, | And the Levites were made clean from sin, and their clothing was washed, and Aaron gave them for a wave offering before the Lord; and Aaron took away their sin and made them clean. | And the Levites purified themselves from sin, and they washed their garments; and Aaron offered them as a wave-offering before Jehovah; and Aaron made atonement for them to cleanse them. |
| Numbers 8:22 | and afterwards have the Levites gone in to do their service in the tent of meeting, before Aaron and before his sons; as Jehovah hath commanded Moses concerning the Levites, so they have done to them. | And then the Levites went in to do their work in the Tent of meeting before Aaron and his sons: all the orders which the Lord had given Moses about the Levites were put into effect. | And afterwards the Levites came in to perform their service in the tent of meeting before Aaron, and before his sons; as Jehovah had commanded Moses concerning the Levites, so did they to them. |

| Numbers 8:24 | `This [is] that which [is] the Levites`: from a son of five and twenty years and upward he doth go in to serve the host in the service of the tent of meeting, | This is the rule for the Levites: those of twenty-five years old and over are to go in and do the work of the Tent of meeting; | This is that which concerneth the Levites: from twenty-five years old and upward shall he come to labour in the work of the service of the tent of meeting. |
| Numbers 8:25 | and from a son of fifty years he doth return from the host of the service, and doth not serve any more, | But after they are fifty years old, they are to give up their work and do no more; | And from fifty years old he shall retire from the labour of the service, and shall serve no more; |
| Numbers 8:26 | and he hath ministered with his brethren in the tent of meeting, to keep the charge, and doth not do service; thus thou dost to the Levites concerning their charge.` | But be with their brothers in the Tent of meeting, taking care of it but doing no work. This is what you are to do in connection with the Levites and their work. | but he shall minister with his brethren in the tent of meeting, and keep the charge, but he shall not serve [in] the service. Thus shalt thou do unto the Levites with regard to their charges. |
