1st-Peter 5:1Elders who [are] among you, I exhort, who [am] a fellow-elder, and a witness of the sufferings of the Christ, and of the glory about to be revealed a partaker,I who am myself one of the rulers of the church, and a witness of the death of Christ, having my part in the coming glory, send this serious request to the chief men among you:So I exhort the Elders among you I who am their fellow Elder and have been an eye-witness of the sufferings of the Christ, and am also a sharer in the glory which is soon to be revealed.
1st-Peter 5:2feed the flock of God that [is] among you, overseeing not constrainedly, but willingly, neither for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind,Keep watch over the flock of God which is in your care, using your authority, not as forced to do so, but gladly; and not for unclean profit but with a ready mind;Be shepherds of God's flock which is among you. Exercise the oversight not reluctantly but eagerly, in accordance with the will of God; not for base gain but with cheerful minds;
1st-Peter 5:3neither as exercising lordship over the heritages, but patterns becoming of the flock,Not as lords over God's heritage, but making yourselves examples to the flock.not lording it over your Churches but proving yourselves patterns for the flock to imitate.
1st-Peter 5:4and at the manifestation of the chief Shepherd, ye shall receive the unfading crown of glory.And at the coming of the chief Keeper of the sheep, you will be given the eternal crown of glory.And then, when the chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the never-withering wreath of glory.
1st-Peter 5:5In like manner, ye younger, be subject to elders, and all to one another subjecting yourselves; with humble-mindedness clothe yourselves, because God the proud doth resist, but to the humble He doth give grace;And in the same way, let the younger men be ruled by the older ones. Let all of you put away pride and make yourselves ready to be servants: for God is a hater of pride, but he gives grace to those who make themselves low.In the same way you younger men must submit to your elders; and all of you must gird yourselves with humility towards one another, for God sets Himself against the proud, but gives grace to the humble.
1st-Peter 5:6be humbled, then, under the powerful hand of God, that you He may exalt in good time,For this cause make yourselves low under the strong hand of God, so that when the time comes you may be lifted up;Humble yourselves therefore beneath the mighty hand of God, so that at the right time He may set you on high.
1st-Peter 5:7all your care having cast upon Him, because He careth for you.Putting all your troubles on him, for he takes care of you.Throw the whole of your anxiety upon Him, because He Himself cares for you.
1st-Peter 5:8Be sober, vigilant, because your opponent the devil, as a roaring lion, doth walk about, seeking whom he may swallow up,Be serious and keep watch; the Evil One, who is against you, goes about like a lion with open mouth in search of food;Curb every passion, and be on the alert. Your great accuser, the Devil, is going about like a roaring lion to see whom he can devour.
1st-Peter 5:9whom resist, stedfast in the faith, having known the same sufferings to your brotherhood in the world to be accomplished.Do not give way to him but be strong in your faith, in the knowledge that your brothers who are in the world undergo the same troubles.Withstand him, firm in your faith; knowing that your brethren in other parts of the world are passing through just the same experiences.
1st-Peter 5:10And the God of all grace, who did call you to His age-during glory in Christ Jesus, having suffered a little, Himself make you perfect, establish, strengthen, settle [you];And after you have undergone pain for a little time, the God of all grace who has given you a part in his eternal glory through Christ Jesus, will himself give you strength and support, and make you complete in every good thing;And God, the giver of all grace, who has called you to share His eternal glory, through Christ, after you have suffered for a short time, will Himself make you perfect, firm, and strong.
1st-Peter 5:11to Him [is] the glory, and the power to the ages and the ages! Amen.His is the power for ever. So be it.To Him be all power unto the Ages of the Ages! Amen.
1st-Peter 5:12Through Silvanus, to you the faithful brother, as I reckon, through few [words] I did write, exhorting and testifying this to be the true grace of God in which ye have stood.I have sent you this short letter by Silvanus, a true brother, in my opinion; comforting you and witnessing that this is the true grace of God; keep to it.I send this short letter by Silas, our faithful brother for such I regard him in order to encourage you, and to bear witness that what I have told you is the true grace of God. In it stand fast.
1st-Peter 5:13Salute you doth the [assembly] in Babylon jointly elected, and Markus my son.She who is in Babylon, who has a part with you in the purpose of God, sends you her love; and so does my son Mark.The Church in Babylon, chosen like yourselves by God, sends greetings, and so does Mark my son.
1st-Peter 5:14Salute ye one another in a kiss of love; peace to you all who [are] in Christ Jesus! Amen.Give one another the kiss of love. Peace be to you all in Christ.Greet one another with a kiss of love. Peace be with all of you who are in Christ.
