| Numbers 8:1 | And Jehovah speaketh unto Moses, saying, | And the Lord said to Moses, | Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying, |
| Numbers 8:2 | `Speak unto Aaron, and thou hast said unto him, In thy causing the lights to go up, over-against the face of the candlestick do the seven lights give light.` | Say to Aaron, When you put the lights in their places, the seven lights will give light in front of the support. | Speak to Aaron, and tell him, When you light the lamps, the seven lamps shall give light in front of the lamp stand. |
| Numbers 8:3 | And Aaron doth so; over-against the face of the candlestick he hath caused its lights to go up, as Jehovah hath commanded Moses. | And Aaron did so; he put the lights in their places so that they gave light in front of the support, as the Lord gave orders to Moses. | Aaron did so; he lighted the lamps of it [so as to give light] in front of the lampstand, as Yahweh commanded Moses. |
| Numbers 8:4 | And this [is] the work of the candlestick: beaten work of gold; unto its thigh, unto its flower it [is] beaten work; as the appearance which Jehovah shewed Moses, so he hath made the candlestick. | The support for the lights was of hammered gold work, from its base to its flowers it was of hammered work; from the design which the Lord had given to Moses, he made the support for the lights. | This was the work of the lampstand, beaten work of gold; to the base of it, [and] to the flowers of it, it was beaten work: according to the pattern which Yahweh had showed Moses, so he made the lampstand. |

| Numbers 8:6 | `Take the Levites from the midst of the sons of Israel, and thou hast cleansed them. | Take the Levites out from among the children of Israel and make them clean. | Take the Levites from among the children of Israel, and cleanse them. |
| Numbers 8:7 | `And thus thou dost to them to cleanse them: sprinkle upon them waters of atonement, and they have caused a razor to pass over all their flesh, and have washed their garments, and cleansed themselves, | And this is how you are to make them clean: let the holy water which takes away sin be put on them, and let the hair all over their bodies be cut off with a sharp blade, and let their clothing be washed and their bodies made clean. | Thus shall you do to them, to cleanse them: sprinkle the water of expiation on them, and let them cause a razor to pass over all their flesh, and let them wash their clothes, and cleanse themselves. |
| Numbers 8:8 | and have taken a bullock, a son of the herd, and its present, flour mixed with oil, and a second bullock a son of the herd thou dost take for a sin-offering, | Then let them take a young ox and its meal offering, crushed grain mixed with oil, and take another ox for a sin-offering. | Then let them take a young bull, and its meal-offering, fine flour mingled with oil; and another young bull shall you take for a sin- offering. |
| Numbers 8:9 | and thou hast brought near the Levites before the tent of meeting, and thou hast assembled the whole company of the sons of Israel, | And make the Levites come forward in front of the Tent of meeting, and let all the children of Israel come together: | You shall present the Levites before the tent of meeting: and you shall assemble the whole congregation of the children of Israel: |
| Numbers 8:10 | and thou hast brought near the Levites before Jehovah, and the sons of Israel have laid their hands on the Levites, | And you are to take the Levites before the Lord: and the children of Israel are to put their hands on them: | and you shall present the Levites before Yahweh. The children of Israel shall lay their hands on the Levites: |
| Numbers 8:11 | and Aaron hath waved the Levites a wave-offering before Jehovah, from the sons of Israel, and they have been for doing the service of Jehovah. | And Aaron is to give the Levites to the Lord as a wave offering from the children of Israel, so that they may do the Lord's work. | and Aaron shall offer the Levites before Yahweh for a wave-offering, on the behalf of the children of Israel, that it may be theirs to do the service of Yahweh. |
| Numbers 8:12 | `And the Levites lay their hands on the head of the bullocks, and make thou the one a sin-offering, and the one a burnt-offering to Jehovah, to atone for the Levites, | And the Levites are to put their hands on the heads of the oxen, and one of the oxen is to be offered for a sin-offering and the other for a burned offering to the Lord to take away the sin of the Levites. | The Levites shall lay their hands on the heads of the bulls: and offer you the one for a sin-offering, and the other for a burnt offering, to Yahweh, to make atonement for the Levites. |

| Numbers 8:14 | and thou hast separated the Levites from the midst of the sons of Israel, and the Levites have become Mine; | So you are to make the Levites separate from the children of Israel, and the Levites will be mine. | Thus shall you separate the Levites from among the children of Israel; and the Levites shall be mine. |
| Numbers 8:15 | and afterwards do the Levites come in to serve the tent of meeting, and thou hast cleansed them, and hast waved them a wave-offering. | After that, the Levites will go in to do whatever has to be done in the Tent of meeting; you are to make them clean and give them as a wave offering. | After that shall the Levites go in to do the service of the tent of meeting: and you shall cleanse them, and offer them for a wave-offering. |
| Numbers 8:16 | `For they are certainly given to Me out of the midst of the sons of Israel, instead of him who openeth any womb the first-born of all from the sons of Israel I have taken them to Myself; | For they have been given to me from among the children of Israel; in place of every mother's first son, the first to come to birth in Israel, I have taken them for myself. | For they are wholly given to me from among the children of Israel; instead of all who open the womb, even the firstborn of all the children of Israel, have I taken them to me. |
| Numbers 8:17 | for Mine [is] every first-born among the sons of Israel, among man and among beast; in the day of my smiting every first-born in the land of Egypt I sanctified them for Myself; | For every mother's first son among the children of Israel is mine, the first male birth of man or beast: on the day when I sent death on all the first sons in the land of Egypt, I made them mine. | For all the firstborn among the children of Israel are mine, both man and animal: on the day that I struck all the firstborn in the land of Egypt I sanctified them for myself. |
| Numbers 8:18 | and I take the Levites instead of every first-born among the sons of Israel: | And in place of the first sons among the children of Israel, I have taken the Levites. | I have taken the Levites instead of all the firstborn among the children of Israel. |
| Numbers 8:19 | `And I give the Levites gifts to Aaron and to his sons, from the midst of the sons of Israel, to do the service of the sons of Israel in the tent of meeting, and to make atonement for the sons of Israel, and there is no plague among the sons of Israel in the sons of Israel`s drawing nigh unto the sanctuary.` | And I have given them to Aaron and to his sons, from among the children of Israel, to undertake for them all the work of the Tent of meeting, and to take away sin from the children of Israel so that no evil may come on them when they come near the holy place. | I have given the Levites as a gift to Aaron and to his sons from among the children of Israel, to do the service of the children of Israel in the tent of meeting, and to make atonement for the children of Israel; that there be no plague among the children of Israel, when the children of Israel come near to the sanctuary. |
| Numbers 8:20 | And Moses doth Aaron also, and all the company of the sons of Israel to the Levites according to all that Jehovah hath commanded Moses concerning the Levites; so have the sons of Israel done to them. | All these things Moses and Aaron and the children of Israel did to the Levites; as the Lord gave orders to Moses about the Levites, so the children of Israel did. | Thus did Moses, and Aaron, and all the congregation of the children of Israel, to the Levites: according to all that Yahweh commanded Moses touching the Levites, so did the children of Israel to them. |
| Numbers 8:21 | And the Levites cleanse themselves, and wash their garments, and Aaron waveth them a wave-offering before Jehovah, and Aaron maketh atonement for them to cleanse them, | And the Levites were made clean from sin, and their clothing was washed, and Aaron gave them for a wave offering before the Lord; and Aaron took away their sin and made them clean. | The Levites purified themselves from sin, and they washed their clothes: and Aaron offered them for a wave-offering before Yahweh; and Aaron made atonement for them to cleanse them. |

| Numbers 8:24 | `This [is] that which [is] the Levites`: from a son of five and twenty years and upward he doth go in to serve the host in the service of the tent of meeting, | This is the rule for the Levites: those of twenty-five years old and over are to go in and do the work of the Tent of meeting; | This is that which belongs to the Levites: from twenty-five years old and upward they shall go in to wait on the service in the work of the tent of meeting: |
| Numbers 8:25 | and from a son of fifty years he doth return from the host of the service, and doth not serve any more, | But after they are fifty years old, they are to give up their work and do no more; | and from the age of fifty years they shall cease waiting on the work, and shall serve no more, |
| Numbers 8:26 | and he hath ministered with his brethren in the tent of meeting, to keep the charge, and doth not do service; thus thou dost to the Levites concerning their charge.` | But be with their brothers in the Tent of meeting, taking care of it but doing no work. This is what you are to do in connection with the Levites and their work. | but shall minister with their brothers in the tent of meeting, to keep the charge, and shall do no service. Thus shall you do to the Levites touching their charges. |
