Romans 9:1Truth I say in Christ, I lie not, my conscience bearing testimony with me in the Holy Spirit,I say what is true in Christ, and not what is false, my mind giving witness with me in the Holy Spirit,I tell the truth in Christ. I am not lying, my conscience testifying with me in the Holy Spirit,
Romans 9:2that I have great grief and unceasing pain in my heartThat I am full of sorrow and pain without end.that I have great sorrow and unceasing pain in my heart.
Romans 9:3for I was wishing, I myself, to be anathema from the Christ for my brethren, my kindred, according to the flesh,For I have a desire to take on myself the curse for my brothers, my family in the flesh:For I could wish that I myself were accursed from Christ for my brothers' sake, my relatives according to the flesh,
Romans 9:4who are Israelites, whose [is] the adoption, and the glory, and the covenants, and the lawgiving, and the service, and the promises,Who are Israelites: who have the place of sons, and the glory, and the agreements with God, and the giving of the law, and the worship, and the hope offered by God:who are Israelites; whose is the adoption, the glory, the covenants, the giving of the law, the service, and the promises;
Romans 9:5whose [are] the fathers, and of whom [is] the Christ, according to the flesh, who is over all, God blessed to the ages. Amen.Whose are the fathers, and of whom came Christ in the flesh, who is over all, God, to whom be blessing for ever. So be it.whose are the fathers, and of whom is Christ as concerning the flesh, who is over all, God, blessed forever. Amen.
Romans 9:6And it is not possible that the word of God hath failed; for not all who [are] of Israel are these Israel;But it is not as if the word of God was without effect. For they are not all Israel, who are of Israel:But it is not as though the word of God has come to nothing. For they are not all Israel, that are of Israel.
Romans 9:7nor because they are seed of Abraham [are] all children, but `in Isaac shall a seed be called to thee;`And they are not all children because they are the seed of Abraham; but, In Isaac will your seed be named.Neither, because they are Abraham's seed, are they all children. But, "In Isaac will your seed be called."
Romans 9:8that is, the children of the flesh these [are] not children of God; but the children of the promise are reckoned for seed;That is, it is not the children of the flesh, but the children of God's undertaking, who are named as the seed.That is, it is not the children of the flesh who are children of God, but the children of the promise are counted as a seed.
Romans 9:9for the word of promise [is] this; `According to this time I will come, and there shall be to Sarah a son.`For this is the word of God's undertaking, At this time will I come, and Sarah will have a son.For this is a word of promise, "At the appointed time I will come, and Sarah will have a son."
Romans 9:10And not only [so], but also Rebecca, having conceived by one Isaac our fatherAnd not only so, but Rebecca being about to have a child by our father IsaacNot only so, but Rebecca also conceived by one, by our father Isaac.
Romans 9:11(for they being not yet born, neither having done anything good or evil, that the purpose of God, according to choice, might remain; not of works, but of Him who is calling,) it was said to herBefore the children had come into existence, or had done anything good or bad, in order that God's purpose and his selection might be effected, not by works, but by him whose purpose it is,For being not yet born, neither having done anything good or bad, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of him who calls,
Romans 9:12`The greater shall serve the less;`It was said to her, The older will be the servant of the younger.it was said to her, "The elder will serve the younger."
Romans 9:13according as it hath been written, `Jacob I did love, and Esau I did hate.`Even as it is said, I had love for Jacob, but for Esau I had hate.Even as it is written, "Jacob I loved, but Esau I hated."
Romans 9:14What, then, shall we say? unrighteousness [is] with God? let it not be!What may we say then? is God not upright? let it not be said.What will we say then? Is there unrighteousness with God? Certainly not!
Romans 9:15for to Moses He saith, `I will do kindness to whom I do kindness, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion;`For he says to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and pity on whom I will have pity.For he said to Moses, "I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion."
Romans 9:16so, then not of him who is willing, nor of him who is running, but of God who is doing kindness:So then, it is not by the desire or by the attempt of man, but by the mercy of God.So then it is not of him who wills, nor of him who runs, but of God who has mercy.
Romans 9:17for the Writing saith to Pharaoh `For this very thing I did raise thee up, that I might shew in thee My power, and that My name might be declared in all the land;`For the holy Writings say to Pharaoh, For this same purpose did I put you on high, so that I might make my power seen in you, and that there might be knowledge of my name through all the earth.For the scripture says to Pharaoh, "For this very purpose I caused you to be raised up, that I might show in you my power, and that my name might be published abroad in all the earth."
Romans 9:18so, then, to whom He willeth, He doth kindness, and to whom He willeth, He doth harden.So then, at his pleasure he has mercy on a man, and at his pleasure he makes the heart hard.So then, he has mercy on whom he desires, and he hardens whom he desires.
Romans 9:19Thou wilt say, then, to me, `Why yet doth He find fault? for His counsel who hath resisted?`But you will say to me, Why does he still make us responsible? who is able to go against his purpose?You will say then to me, "Why does he still find fault? For who withstands his will?"
Romans 9:20nay, but, O man, who art thou that art answering again to God? shall the thing formed say to Him who did form [it], Why me didst thou make thus?But, O man, who are you, to make answer against God? May the thing which is made say to him who made it, Why did you make me so?But no, man, who are you who replies against God? Will the thing formed ask him who formed it, "Why did you make me like this?"
Romans 9:21hath not the potter authority over the clay, out of the same lump to make the one vessel to honour, and the one to dishonour?Or has not the potter the right to make out of one part of his earth a vessel for honour, and out of another a vessel for shame?Or hasn't the potter a right over the clay, from the same lump to make one part a vessel for honor, and another for dishonor?
Romans 9:22And if God, willing to shew the wrath and to make known His power, did endure, in much long suffering, vessels of wrath fitted for destruction,What if God, desiring to let his wrath and his power be seen, for a long time put up with the vessels of wrath which were ready for destruction:What if God, willing to show his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much patience vessels of wrath made for destruction,
Romans 9:23and that He might make known the riches of His glory on vessels of kindness, that He before prepared for glory, whom also He did call usAnd to make clear the wealth of his glory to vessels of mercy, which he had before made ready for glory,and that he might make known the riches of his glory on vessels of mercy, which he prepared beforehand for glory,
Romans 9:24not only out of Jews, but also out of nations,Even us, who were marked out by him, not only from the Jews, but from the Gentiles?us, whom he also called, not from the Jews only, but also from the Gentiles?
Romans 9:25as also in Hosea He saith, `I will call what [is] not My people My people; and her not beloved Beloved,As he says in Hosea, They will be named my people who were not my people, and she will be loved who was not loved.As he says also in Hosea, "I will call them 'my people,' which were not my people; And her 'beloved,' who was not beloved."
Romans 9:26and it shall be in the place where it was said to them, Ye [are] not My people; there they shall be called sons of the living God.`And in the place where it was said to them, You are not my people, there they will be named the sons of the living God."It will be that in the place where it was said to them, 'You are not my people,' There will they be called 'sons of the living God.'"
Romans 9:27And Isaiah doth cry concerning Israel, `If the number of the sons of Israel may be as the sand of the sea, the remnant shall be saved;And Isaiah says about Israel, Even if the number of the children of Israel is as the sand of the sea, only a small part will get salvation:Isaiah cries concerning Israel, "If the number of the children of Israel are as the sand of the sea, It is the remnant who will be saved;
Romans 9:28for a matter He is finishing, and is cutting short in righteousness, because a matter cut short will the Lord do upon the land.For the Lord will give effect to his word on the earth, putting an end to it and cutting it short.For He will finish the work and cut it short in righteousness, Because the LORD will make a short work upon the earth."
Romans 9:29and according as Isaiah saith before, `Except the Lord of Sabaoth did leave to us a seed, as Sodom we had become, and as Gomorrah we had been made like.`And, as Isaiah had said before, If the Lord of armies had not given us a seed, we would have been like Sodom and Gomorrah.As Isaiah has said before, "Unless the Lord of Hosts had left us a seed, We would have become like Sodom, And would have been made like Gomorrah."
Romans 9:30What, then, shall we say? that nations who are not pursuing righteousness did attain to righteousness, and righteousness that [is] of faith,What then may we say? That the nations who did not go after righteousness have got righteousness, even the righteousness which is of faith:What will we say then? That the Gentiles, who didn't follow after righteousness, attained to righteousness, even the righteousness which is of faith;
Romans 9:31and Israel, pursuing a law of righteousness, at a law of righteousness did not arrive;But Israel, going after a law of righteousness, did not get it.but Israel, following after a law of righteousness, didn't arrive at the law of righteousness.
Romans 9:32wherefore? because not by faith, but as by works of law; for they did stumble at the stone of stumbling,Why? Because they were not searching for it by faith, but by works. They came up against the stone which was in the way;Why? Because they didn't seek it by faith, but as it were by works of the law. They stumbled over the stumbling stone;
Romans 9:33according as it hath been written, `Lo, I place in Sion a stone of stumbling and a rock of offence; and every one who is believing thereon shall not be ashamed.`As it is said, See, I am putting in Zion a stone causing a fall, and a rock in the way: but he who has faith in him will not be put to shame.even as it is written, "Behold, I lay in Zion a stone of stumbling and a rock of offense. And no one who believes in him will be put to shame."
