| Romans 13:1 | Let every soul to the higher authorities be subject, for there is no authority except from God, and the authorities existing are appointed by God, | Let every soul be subject to the authorities that are above [him]. For there is no authority except from God; and those that exist are set up by God. | Let every soul be in subjection to the higher powers: for there is no power but of God; and the [powers] that be are ordained of God. |
| Romans 13:2 | so that he who is setting himself against the authority, against God`s ordinance hath resisted; and those resisting, to themselves shall receive judgment. | So that he that sets himself in opposition to the authority resists the ordinance of God; and they who [thus] resist shall bring sentence of guilt on themselves. | Therefore he that resisteth the power, withstandeth the ordinance of God: and they that withstand shall receive to themselves judgment. |

And wouldest thou have no fear of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise from the same: |
| Romans 13:4 | for of God it is a ministrant to thee for good; and if that which is evil thou mayest do, be fearing, for not in vain doth it bear the sword; for of God it is a ministrant, an avenger for wrath to him who is doing that which is evil. | for it is God's minister to thee for good. But if thou practisest evil, fear; for it bears not the sword in vain; for it is God's minister, an avenger for wrath to him that does evil. | for he is a minister of God to thee for good.
