John 19:1Then, therefore, did Pilate take Jesus and scourge [him],Then Pilate therefore took Jesus and scourged [him].Then therefore, Pilate took Jesus, and scourged him.
John 19:2and the soldiers having plaited a crown of thorns, did place [it] on his head, and a purple garment they put around him,And the soldiers having plaited a crown of thorns put it on his head, and put a purple robe on him,And the soldiers platting a crown of thorns, put it upon his head; and they put on him a purple garment.
John 19:3and said, `Hail! the king of the Jews;` and they were giving him slaps.and came to him and said, Hail, king of the Jews! and gave him blows on the face. And they came to him, and said: Hail, king of the Jews; and they gave him blows.
John 19:4Pilate, therefore, again went forth without, and saith to them, `Lo, I do bring him to you without, that ye may know that in him I find no fault;`And Pilate went out again and says to them, Lo, I bring him out to you, that ye may know that I find in him no fault whatever.Pilate therefore went forth again, and saith to them: Behold, I bring him forth unto you, that you may know that I find no cause in him.
John 19:5Jesus, therefore, came forth without, bearing the thorny crown and the purple garment; and he saith to them, `Lo, the man!`(Jesus therefore went forth without, wearing the crown of thorn, and the purple robe.) And he says to them, Behold the man!(Jesus therefore came forth, bearing the crown of thorns and the purple garment.) And he saith to them: Behold the Man.
John 19:6When, therefore, the chief priests and the officers did see him, they cried out, saying, `Crucify, crucify;` Pilate saith to them, `Take ye him ye, and crucify; for I find no fault in him;`When therefore the chief priests and the officers saw him they cried out saying, Crucify, crucify [him]. Pilate says to them, Take him ye and crucify [him], for I find no fault in him. When the chief priests, therefore, and the servants, had seen him, they cried out, saying: Crucify him, crucify him. Pilate saith to them: Take him you, and crucify him: for I find no cause in him.
John 19:7the Jews answered him, `We have a law, and according to our law he ought to die, for he made himself Son of God.`The Jews answered him, We have a law, and according to [our] law he ought to die, because he made himself Son of God.The Jews answered him: We have a law; and according to the law he ought to die, because he made himself the Son of God.
John 19:8When, therefore, Pilate heard this word, he was the more afraid,When Pilate therefore heard this word, he was the rather afraid,When Pilate therefore had heard this saying, he feared the more.
John 19:9and entered again to the praetorium, and saith to Jesus, `Whence art thou?` and Jesus gave him no answer.and went into the praetorium again and says to Jesus, Whence art thou? But Jesus gave him no answer. And he entered into the hall again, and he said to Jesus: Whence art thou? But Jesus gave him no answer.
John 19:10Pilate, therefore, saith to him, `To me dost thou not speak? hast thou not known that I have authority to crucify thee, and I have authority to release thee?`Pilate therefore says to him, Speakest thou not to *me*? Dost thou not know that I have authority to release thee and have authority to crucify thee?Pilate therefore saith to him: Speakest thou not to me? knowest thou not that I have power to crucify thee, and I have power to release thee?
John 19:11Jesus answered, `Thou wouldst have no authority against me, if it were not having been given thee from above; because of this, he who is delivering me up to thee hath greater sin.`Jesus answered, Thou hadst no authority whatever against me if it were not given to thee from above. On this account he that has delivered me up to thee has [the] greater sin.Jesus answered: Thou shouldst not have any power against me, unless it were given thee from above. Therefore, he that hath delivered me to thee, hath the greater sin.
John 19:12From this [time] was Pilate seeking to release him, and the Jews were crying out, saying, `If this one thou mayest release, thou art not a friend of Caesar; every one making himself a king, doth speak against Caesar.`From this time Pilate sought to release him; but the Jews cried out saying, If thou releasest this [man], thou art not a friend to Caesar. Every one making himself a king speaks against Caesar. And from henceforth Pilate sought to release him. But the Jews cried out, saying: If thou release this man, thou art not Caesar's friend. For whosoever maketh himself a king, speaketh against Caesar.
John 19:13Pilate, therefore, having heard this word, brought Jesus without and he sat down upon the tribunal to a place called, `Pavement,` and in Hebrew, Gabbatha;Pilate therefore, having heard these words, led Jesus out and sat down upon [the] judgment-seat, at a place called Pavement, but in Hebrew Gabbatha; Now when Pilate had heard these words, he brought Jesus forth, and sat down in the judgment seat, in the place that is called Lithostrotos, and in Hebrew Gabbatha.
John 19:14and it was the preparation of the passover, and as it were the sixth hour, and he saith to the Jews, `Lo, your king!`(now it was [the] preparation of the passover; it was about the sixth hour;) and he says to the Jews, Behold your king! And it was the parasceve of the pasch, about the sixth hour, and he saith to the Jews: Behold your king.
John 19:15and they cried out, `Take away, take away, crucify him;` Pilate saith to them, `Your king shall I crucify?` the chief priests answered, `We have no king except Caesar.`But they cried out, Take [him] away, take [him] away, crucify him. Pilate says to them, Shall I crucify your king? The chief priests answered, We have no king but Caesar. But they cried out: Away with him; away with him; crucify him. Pilate saith to them: Shall I crucify your king? The chief priests answered: We have no king but Caesar.
John 19:16Then, therefore, he delivered him up to them, that he may be crucified, and they took Jesus and led [him] away,Then therefore he delivered him up to them, that he might be crucified; and they took Jesus and led him away. Then therefore he delivered him to them to be crucified. And they took Jesus, and led him forth.
John 19:17and bearing his cross, he went forth to the place called [Place] of a Skull, which is called in Hebrew Golgotha; And he went out, bearing his cross, to the place called [place] of a skull, which is called in Hebrew, Golgotha; And bearing his own cross, he went forth to that place which is called Calvary, but in Hebrew Golgotha.
John 19:18where they crucified him, and with him two others, on this side, and on that side, and Jesus in the midst.where they crucified him, and with him two others, [one] on this side, and [one] on that, and Jesus in the middle.Where they crucified him, and with him two others, one on each side, and Jesus in the midst.
John 19:19And Pilate also wrote a title, and put [it] on the cross, and it was written, `Jesus the Nazarene, the king of the Jews;`And Pilate wrote a title also and put it on the cross. But there was written: Jesus the Nazaraean, the King of the Jews. And Pilate wrote a title also, and he put it upon the cross. And the writing was: JESUS OF NAZARETH, THE KING OF THE JEWS.
John 19:20this title, therefore, read many of the Jews, because the place was nigh to the city where Jesus was crucified, and it was having been written in Hebrew, in Greek, in Roman. This title therefore many of the Jews read, for the place of the city where Jesus was crucified was near; and it was written in Hebrew, Greek, Latin. This title therefore many of the Jews did read: because the place where Jesus was crucified was nigh to the city: and it was written in Hebrew, in Greek, and in Latin.
John 19:21The chief priests of the Jews said, therefore, to Pilate, `Write not The king of the Jews, but that one said, I am king of the Jews;`The chief priests of the Jews therefore said to Pilate, Do not write, The king of the Jews, but that *he* said, I am king of the Jews. Then the chief priests of the Jews said to Pilate: Write not, The King of the Jews; but that he said, I am the King of the Jews.
John 19:22Pilate answered, `What I have written, I have written.`Pilate answered, What I have written, I have written.Pilate answered: What I have written, I have written.
John 19:23The soldiers, therefore, when they did crucify Jesus, took his garments, and made four parts, to each soldier a part, also the coat, and the coat was seamless, from the top woven throughout,The soldiers therefore, when they had crucified Jesus, took his clothes, and made four parts, to each soldier a part, and the body-coat; but the body-coat was seamless, woven through the whole from the top.The soldiers therefore, when they had crucified him, took his garments, (and they made four parts, to every soldier a part,) and also his coat. Now the coat was without seam, woven from the top throughout.
John 19:24they said, therefore, to one another, `We may not rend it, but cast a lot for it, whose it shall be;` that the Writing might be fulfilled, that is saying, `They divided my garments to themselves, and upon my raiment they did cast a lot;` the soldiers, therefore, indeed, did these things. They said therefore to one another, Let us not rend it, but let us cast lots for it, whose it shall be; that the scripture might be fulfilled which says, They parted my garments among themselves, and on my vesture they cast lots. The soldiers therefore did these things. They said then one to another: Let us not cut it, but let us cast lots for it, whose it shall be; that the scripture might be fulfilled, saying: They have parted my garments among them, and upon my vesture they have cast lot. And the soldiers indeed did these things.
John 19:25And there stood by the cross of Jesus his mother, and his mother`s sister, Mary of Cleopas, and Mary the Magdalene; And by the cross of Jesus stood his mother, and the sister of his mother, Mary the [wife] of Clopas, and Mary of Magdala. Now there stood by the cross of Jesus, his mother, and his mother's sister, Mary of Cleophas, and Mary Magdalen.
John 19:26Jesus, therefore, having seen [his] mother, and the disciple standing by, whom he was loving, he saith to his mother, `Woman, lo, thy son;`Jesus therefore, seeing his mother, and the disciple standing by, whom he loved, says to his mother, Woman, behold thy son. When Jesus therefore had seen his mother and the disciple standing whom he loved, he saith to his mother: Woman, behold thy son.
John 19:27afterward he saith to the disciple, `Lo, thy mother;` and from that hour the disciple took her to his own [home].Then he says unto the disciple, Behold thy mother. And from that hour the disciple took her to his own home. After that, he saith to the disciple: Behold thy mother. And from that hour, the disciple took her to his own.
John 19:28After this, Jesus knowing that all things now have been finished, that the Writing may be fulfilled, saith, `I thirst;`After this, Jesus, knowing that all things were now finished, that the scripture might be fulfilled, says, I thirst.Afterwards, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the scripture might be fulfilled, said: I thirst.
John 19:29a vessel, therefore, was placed full of vinegar, and they having filled a sponge with vinegar, and having put [it] around a hyssop stalk, did put [it] to his mouth; There was a vessel therefore there full of vinegar, and having filled a sponge with vinegar, and putting hyssop round it, they put it up to his mouth. Now there was a vessel set there full of vinegar. And they, putting a sponge full of vinegar and hyssop, put it to his mouth.
John 19:30when, therefore, Jesus received the vinegar, he said, `It hath been finished;` and having bowed the head, gave up the spirit. When therefore Jesus had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished; and having bowed his head, he delivered up his spirit.Jesus therefore, when he had taken the vinegar, said: It is consummated. And bowing his head, he gave up the ghost.
John 19:31The Jews, therefore, that the bodies might not remain on the cross on the sabbath, since it was the preparation, (for that sabbath day was a great one,) asked of Pilate that their legs may be broken, and they taken away. The Jews therefore, that the bodies might not remain on the cross on the sabbath, for it was [the] preparation, (for the day of that sabbath was a great [day],) demanded of Pilate that their legs might be broken and they taken away. Then the Jews, (because it was the parasceve,) that the bodies might not remain on the cross on the sabbath day, (for that was a great sabbath day,) besought Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away.
John 19:32The soldiers, therefore, came, and of the first indeed they did break the legs, and of the other who was crucified with him,The soldiers therefore came and broke the legs of the first and of the other that had been crucified with him;The soldiers therefore came; and they broke the legs of the first, and of the other that was crucified with him.
John 19:33and having come to Jesus, when they saw him already having been dead, they did not break his legs;but coming to Jesus, when they saw that he was already dead they did not break his legs,But after they were come to Jesus, when they saw that he was already dead, they did not break his legs.
John 19:34but one of the soldiers with a spear did pierce his side, and immediately there came forth blood and water;but one of the soldiers pierced his side with a spear, and immediately there came out blood and water. But one of the soldiers with a spear opened his side, and immediately there came out blood and water.
John 19:35and he who hath seen hath testified, and his testimony is true, and that one hath known that true things he speaketh, that ye also may believe. And he who saw it bears witness, and his witness is true, and he knows that he says true that ye also may believe. And he that saw it, hath given testimony, and his testimony is true. And he knoweth that he saith true; that you also may believe.
John 19:36For these things came to pass, that the Writing may be fulfilled, `A bone of him shall not be broken;`For these things took place that the scripture might be fulfilled, Not a bone of him shall be broken. For these things were done, that the scripture might be fulfilled: You shall not break a bone of him.
John 19:37and again another Writing saith, `They shall look to him whom they did pierce.`And again another scripture says, They shall look on him whom they pierced. And again another scripture saith: They shall look on him whom they pierced.
John 19:38And after these things did Joseph of Arimathea being a disciple of Jesus, but concealed, through the fear of the Jews ask of Pilate, that he may take away the body of Jesus, and Pilate gave leave; he came, therefore, and took away the body of Jesus,And after these things Joseph of Arimathaea, who was a disciple of Jesus, but secretly through fear of the Jews, demanded of Pilate that he might take the body of Jesus: and Pilate allowed it. He came therefore and took away the body of Jesus. And after these things, Joseph of Arimathea (because he was a disciple of Jesus, but secretly for fear of the Jews) besought Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus. And Pilate gave leave. He came therefore, and took the body of Jesus.
John 19:39and Nicodemus also came who came unto Jesus by night at the first bearing a mixture of myrrh and aloes, as it were, a hundred pounds. And Nicodemus also, who at first came to Jesus by night, came, bringing a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about a hundred pounds [weight].And Nicodemus also came, (he who at the first came to Jesus by night,) bringing a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about an hundred pound weight.
John 19:40They took, therefore, the body of Jesus, and bound it with linen clothes with the spices, according as it was the custom of the Jews to prepare for burial; They took therefore the body of Jesus and bound it up in linen with the spices, as it is the custom with the Jews to prepare for burial. They took therefore the body of Jesus, and bound it in linen cloths, with the spices, as the manner of the Jews is to bury.
John 19:41and there was in the place where he was crucified a garden, and in the garden a new tomb, in which no one was yet laid; But there was in the place where he had been crucified a garden, and in the garden a new tomb in which no one had ever been laid. Now there was in the place where he was crucified, a garden; and in the garden a new sepulchre, wherein no man yet had been laid.
John 19:42there, therefore, because of the preparation of the Jews, because the tomb was nigh, they laid Jesus. There therefore, on account of the preparation of the Jews, because the tomb was near, they laid Jesus. There, therefore, because of the parasceve of the Jews, they laid Jesus, because the sepulchre was nigh at hand.
