Luke 17:1And he said unto the disciples, `It is impossible for the stumbling blocks not to come, but wo [to him] through whom they come; And he said to his disciples, It cannot be but that offences come, but woe [to him] by whom they come! And he said to his disciples: It is impossible that scandals should not come: but woe to him through whom they come.
Luke 17:2it is more profitable to him if a weighty millstone is put round about his neck, and he hath been cast into the sea, than that he may cause one of these little ones to stumble. It would be [more] profitable for him if a millstone were hanged about his neck and he cast into the sea, than that he should be a snare to one of these little ones.It were better for him, that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he cast into the sea, than that he should scandalize one of these little ones.
Luke 17:3`Take heed to yourselves, and, if thy brother may sin in regard to thee, rebuke him, and if he may reform, forgive him,Take heed to yourselves: if thy brother should sin, rebuke him; and if he should repent, forgive him.Take heed to yourselves. If thy brother sin against thee, reprove him: and if he do penance, forgive him.
Luke 17:4and if seven times in the day he may sin against thee, and seven times in the day may turn back to thee, saying, I reform; thou shalt forgive him.`And if he should sin against thee seven times in the day, and seven times should return to thee, saying, I repent, thou shalt forgive him.And if he sin against thee seven times in a day, and seven times in a day be converted unto thee, saying, I repent; forgive him.
Luke 17:5And the apostles said to the Lord, `Add to us faith;`And the apostles said to the Lord, Give more faith to us.And the apostles said to the Lord: Increase our faith.
Luke 17:6and the Lord said, `If ye had faith as a grain of mustard, ye would have said to this sycamine, Be uprooted, and be planted in the sea, and it would have obeyed you.But the Lord said, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard [seed], ye had said to this sycamine tree, Be thou rooted up, and be thou planted in the sea, and it would have obeyed you.And the Lord said: If you had faith like to a grain of mustard seed, you might say to this mulberry tree, Be thou rooted up, and be thou transplanted into the sea: and it would obey you.
Luke 17:7`But, who is he of you having a servant ploughing or feeding who, to him having come in out of the field, will say, Having come near, recline at meat? But which of you [is there] who, having a bondman ploughing or shepherding, when he comes in out of the field, will say, Come and lie down immediately to table? But which of you having a servant ploughing, or feeding cattle, will say to him, when he is come from the field: Immediately go, sit down to meat:
Luke 17:8but will not [rather] say to him, Prepare what I may sup, and having girded thyself about, minister to me, till I eat and drink, and after these things thou shalt eat and drink? But will he not say to him, Prepare what I shall sup on, and gird thyself and serve me that I may eat and drink; and after that *thou* shalt eat and drink? And will not rather say to him: Make ready my supper, and gird thyself, and serve me, whilst I eat and drink, and afterwards thou shalt eat and drink?
Luke 17:9Hath he favour to that servant because he did the things directed? I think not.Is he thankful to the bondman because he has done what was ordered? I judge not.Doth he thank that servant, for doing the things which he commanded him?
Luke 17:10`So also ye, when ye may have done all the things directed you, say We are unprofitable servants, because that which we owed to do we have done.`Thus *ye* also, when ye shall have done all things that have been ordered you, say, We are unprofitable bondmen; we have done what it was our duty to do.I think not. So you also, when you shall have done all these things that are commanded you, say: We are unprofitable servants; we have done that which we ought to do.
