| Romans 13:1 | Let every soul to the higher authorities be subject, for there is no authority except from God, and the authorities existing are appointed by God, | Let every soul be subject to the authorities that are above [him]. For there is no authority except from God; and those that exist are set up by God. | Let every soul be subject to higher powers: for there is no power but from God: and those that are, are ordained of God. |
| Romans 13:2 | so that he who is setting himself against the authority, against God`s ordinance hath resisted; and those resisting, to themselves shall receive judgment. | So that he that sets himself in opposition to the authority resists the ordinance of God; and they who [thus] resist shall bring sentence of guilt on themselves. | Therefore he that resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God. And they that resist, purchase to themselves damnation. |
| Romans 13:3 | For those ruling are not a terror to the good works, but to the evil; and dost thou wish not to be afraid of the authority? that which is good be doing, and thou shalt have praise from it, | For rulers are not a terror to a good work, but to an evil [one]. Dost thou desire then not to be afraid of the authority? practise [what is] good, and thou shalt have praise from it; | For princes are not a terror to the good work, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? Do that which is good: and thou shalt have praise from the same. |
