The Young's Literal Translation Online Bible (YLT)The Darby Online Bible (DBY)The Weymouth New Testament Online Bible (WEY)
Hebrews 9:1It had, indeed, then (even the first tabernacle) ordinances of service, also a worldly sanctuary,The first therefore also indeed had ordinances of service, and the sanctuary, a worldly one.Now even the first Covenant had regulations for divine worship, and had also its sanctuary a sanctuary belonging to this world.
Hebrews 9:2for a tabernacle was prepared, the first, in which was both the lamp-stand, and the table, and the bread of the presence which is called `Holy;`For a tabernacle was set up; the first, in which [were] both the candlestick and the table and the exposition of the loaves, which is called Holy; For a sacred tent was constructed the outer one, in which were the lamp and the table and the presented loaves; and this is called the Holy place.
Hebrews 9:3and after the second vail a tabernacle that is called `Holy of holies,`but after the second veil a tabernacle which is called Holy of holies,And behind the second veil was a sacred tent called the Holy of holies.
Hebrews 9:4having a golden censer, and the ark of the covenant overlaid all round about with gold, in which [is] the golden pot having the manna, and the rod of Aaron that budded, and the tables of the covenant, having a golden censer, and the ark of the covenant, covered round in every part with gold, in which [were] the golden pot that had the manna, and the rod of Aaron that had sprouted, and the tables of the covenant; This had a censer of gold, and the ark of the Covenant lined with gold and completely covered with gold, and in it were a gold vase which held the manna, and Aaron's rod which budded and the tables of the Covenant.
Hebrews 9:5and over it cherubim of the glory, overshadowing the mercy-seat, concerning which we are not now to speak particularly.and above over it the cherubim of glory shadowing the mercy-seat; concerning which it is not now [the time] to speak in detail. And above the ark were the Cherubim denoting God's glorious presence and overshadowing the Mercy-seat. But I cannot now speak about all these in detail.
Hebrews 9:6And these things having been thus prepared, into the first tabernacle, indeed, at all times the priests do go in, performing the services,Now these things being thus ordered, into the first tabernacle the priests enter at all times, accomplishing the services; These arrangements having long been completed, the priests, when conducting the divine services, continually enter the outer tent.
Hebrews 9:7and into the second, once in the year, only the chief priest, not apart from blood, which he doth offer for himself and the errors of the people, but into the second, the high priest only, once a year, not without blood, which he offers for himself and for the errors of the people:But into the second, the High Priest goes only on one day of the year, and goes alone, taking with him blood, which he offers on his own behalf and on account of the sins which the people have ignorantly committed.
Hebrews 9:8the Holy Spirit this evidencing that not yet hath been manifested the way of the holy [places], the first tabernacle having yet a standing;the Holy Spirit shewing this, that the way of the [holy of] holies has not yet been made manifest while as yet the first tabernacle has [its] standing; And the lesson which the Holy Spirit teaches is this that the way into the true Holy place is not yet open so long as the outer tent still remains in existence.
Hebrews 9:9which [is] a simile in regard to the present time, in which both gifts and sacrifices are offered, which are not able, in regard to conscience, to make perfect him who is serving, the which [is] an image for the present time, according to which both gifts and sacrifices, unable to perfect as to conscience him that worshipped, are offered,And this is a figure for the time now present answering to which both gifts and sacrifices are offered, unable though they are to give complete freedom from sin to him who ministers.
Hebrews 9:10only in victuals, and drinks, and different baptisms, and fleshly ordinances till the time of reformation imposed upon [them].[consisting] only of meats and drinks and divers washings, ordinances of flesh, imposed until [the] time of setting things right. For their efficacy depends only on meats and drinks and various washings, ceremonies pertaining to the body and imposed until a time of reformation.
Hebrews 9:11And Christ being come, chief priest of the coming good things, through the greater and more perfect tabernacle not made with hands that is, not of this creationBut Christ being come high priest of the good things to come, by the better and more perfect tabernacle not made with hand, (that is, not of this creation,)But Christ appeared as a High Priest of the blessings that are soon to come by means of the greater and more perfect Tent of worship, a tent which has not been built with hands that is to say does not belong to this material creation
Hebrews 9:12neither through blood of goats and calves, but through his own blood, did enter in once into the holy places, age-during redemption having obtained;nor by blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood, has entered in once for all into the [holy of] holies, having found an eternal redemption.and once for all entered the Holy place, taking with Him not the blood of goats and calves, but His own blood, and thus procuring eternal redemption for us.
Hebrews 9:13for if the blood of bulls, and goats, and ashes of an heifer, sprinkling those defiled, doth sanctify to the purifying of the flesh,For if the blood of goats and bulls, and a heifer's ashes sprinkling the defiled, sanctifies for the purity of the flesh,For if the blood of goats and bulls and the ashes of a heifer sprinkling those who have contracted defilement make them holy so as to bring about ceremonial purity,
Hebrews 9:14how much more shall the blood of the Christ (who through the age-during Spirit did offer himself unblemished to God) purify your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?how much rather shall the blood of the Christ, who by the eternal Spirit offered himself spotless to God, purify your conscience from dead works to worship [the] living God?how much more certainly shall the blood of Christ, who strengthened by the eternal Spirit offered Himself to God, free from blemish, purify your consciences from lifeless works for you to serve the ever-living God?
Hebrews 9:15And because of this, of a new covenant he is mediator, that, death having come, for redemption of the transgressions under the first covenant, those called may receive the promise of the age-during inheritance,And for this reason he is mediator of a new covenant, so that, death having taken place for redemption of the transgressions under the first covenant, the called might receive the promise of the eternal inheritance. And because of this He is the negotiator of a new Covenant, in order that, since a life has been given in atonement for the offences committed under the first Covenant, those who have been called may receive the eternal inheritance which has been promised to them.
Hebrews 9:16for where a covenant [is], the death of the covenant-victim to come in is necessary,(For where [there is] a testament, the death of the testator must needs come in.For where there is a legal `will,' there must also be a death brought forward in evidence the death of him who made it.
Hebrews 9:17for a covenant over dead victims [is] stedfast, since it is no force at all when the covenant-victim liveth,For a testament [is] of force when men are dead, since it is in no way of force while the testator is alive.)And a will is only of force in the case of a deceased person, being never of any avail so long as he who made it lives.
Hebrews 9:18whence not even the first apart from blood hath been initiated,Whence neither the first was inaugurated without blood.Accordingly we find that the first Covenant was not inaugurated without blood.
Hebrews 9:19for every command having been spoken, according to law, by Moses, to all the people, having taken the blood of the calves and goats, with water, and scarlet wool, and hyssop, he both the book itself and all the people did sprinkle,For every commandment having been spoken according to [the] law by Moses to all the people; having taken the blood of calves and goats, with water and scarlet wool and hyssop, he sprinkled both the book itself and all the people,For when Moses had proclaimed to all the people every commandment contained in the Law, he took the blood of the calves and of the goats and with them water, scarlet wool and hyssop, and sprinkled both the book itself and all the people,
Hebrews 9:20saying, `This [is] the blood of the covenant that God enjoined unto you,`saying, This [is] the blood of the covenant which God has enjoined to you.saying, "This is the blood which confirms the Covenant that God has made binding upon you."
Hebrews 9:21and both the tabernacle and all the vessels of the service with blood in like manner he did sprinkle,And the tabernacle too and all the vessels of service he sprinkled in like manner with blood; And in the same way he also sprinkled blood upon the Tent of worship and upon all the vessels used in the ministry.
Hebrews 9:22and with blood almost all things are purified according to the law, and apart from blood-shedding forgiveness doth not come.and almost all things are purified with blood according to the law, and without blood-shedding there is no remission.Indeed we may almost say that in obedience to the Law everything is sprinkled with blood, and that apart from the outpouring of blood there is no remission of sins.
Hebrews 9:23[It is] necessary, therefore, the pattern indeed of the things in the heavens to be purified with these, and the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these;[It was] necessary then that the figurative representations of the things in the heavens should be purified with these; but the heavenly things themselves with sacrifices better than these. It was needful therefore that the copies of the things in Heaven should be cleansed in this way, but that the heavenly things themselves should be cleansed with more costly sacrifices.
Hebrews 9:24for not into holy places made with hands did the Christ enter figures of the true but into the heaven itself, now to be manifested in the presence of God for us;For the Christ is not entered into holy places made with hand, figures of the true, but into heaven itself, now to appear before the face of God for us:For not into a Holy place built by men's hands a mere copy of the reality did Christ enter, but He entered Heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God on our behalf.
Hebrews 9:25nor that he may many times offer himself, even as the chief priest doth enter into the holy places every year with blood of others;nor in order that he should offer himself often, as the high priest enters into the holy places every year with blood not his own;Nor did He enter for the purpose of many times offering Himself in sacrifice, just as the High Priest enters the Holy place, year after year, taking with him blood not his own.
Hebrews 9:26since it had behoved him many times to suffer from the foundation of the world, but now once, at the full end of the ages, for putting away of sin through his sacrifice, he hath been manifested;since he had [then] been obliged often to suffer from the foundation of the world. But now once in the consummation of the ages he has been manifested for [the] putting away of sin by his sacrifice. In that case Christ would have needed to suffer many times, from the creation of the world onwards; but as a matter of fact He has appeared once for all, at the Close of the Ages, in order to do away with sin by the sacrifice of Himself.
Hebrews 9:27and as it is laid up to men once to die, and after this judgment,And forasmuch as it is the portion of men once to die, and after this judgment;And since it is reserved for all mankind once to die, and afterwards to be judged;
Hebrews 9:28so also the Christ, once having been offered to bear the sins of many, a second time, apart from a sin-offering, shall appear, to those waiting for him to salvation!thus the Christ also, having been once offered to bear the sins of many, shall appear to those that look for him the second time without sin for salvation.so the Christ also, having been once offered in sacrifice in order that He might bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, separated from sin, to those who are eagerly expecting Him, to make their salvation complete.
