 The Young's Literal Translation Online Bible (YLT)The Darby Online Bible (DBY)The Weymouth New Testament Online Bible (WEY)
Philemon 1:1Paul, a prisoner of Christ Jesus, and Timotheus the brother, to Philemon our beloved and fellow-worker,Paul, prisoner of Christ Jesus, and Timotheus the brother, to Philemon the beloved and our fellow-workman,Paul, a prisoner for Christ Jesus, and Timothy our brother: To Philemon our dearly-loved fellow labourer
Philemon 1:2and Apphia the beloved, and Archippus our fellow-soldier, and the assembly in thy house:and to the sister Apphia and to Archippus our fellow-soldier, and to the assembly which [is] in thine house.and to our sister Apphia and our comrade Archippus as well as to the Church in your house.
Philemon 1:3Grace to you, and peace, from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ!Grace to you and peace from God our Father, and [the] Lord Jesus Christ.May grace be granted to you all, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
Philemon 1:4I give thanks to my God, always making mention of thee in my prayers,I thank my God, always making mention of thee at my prayers,I give continual thanks to my God while making mention of you, my brother, in my prayers,
Philemon 1:5hearing of thy love and faith that thou hast unto the Lord Jesus and toward all the saints,hearing of thy love and the faith which thou hast towards the Lord Jesus, and towards all the saints,because I hear of your love and of the faith which you have towards the Lord Jesus and which you manifest towards all God's people;
Philemon 1:6that the fellowship of thy faith may become working in the full knowledge of every good thing that [is] in you toward Christ Jesus;in such sort that thy participation in the faith should become operative in the acknowledgment of every good thing which is in us towards Christ [Jesus].praying as I do, that their participation in your faith may result in others fully recognizing all the right affection that is in us toward Christ.
Philemon 1:7for we have much joy and comfort in thy love, because the bowels of the saints have been refreshed through thee, brother.For we have great thankfulness and encouragement through thy love, because the bowels of the saints are refreshed by thee, brother.For I have found great joy and comfort in your love, because the hearts of God's people have been, and are, refreshed through you, my brother.
Philemon 1:8Wherefore, having in Christ much boldness to command thee that which is fitWherefore having much boldness in Christ to enjoin thee what is fitting,Therefore, though I might with Christ's authority speak very freely and order you to do what is fitting,
Philemon 1:9because of the love I rather entreat, being such an one as Paul the aged, and now also a prisoner of Jesus Christ;for love's sake I rather exhort, being such a one as Paul the aged, and now also prisoner of Jesus Christ.it is for love's sake that instead of that although I am none other than Paul the aged, and am now also a prisoner for Christ Jesus,
Philemon 1:10I entreat thee concerning my child whom I did beget in my bonds Onesimus,I exhort thee for *my* child, whom I have begotten in [my] bonds, Onesimus,I entreat you on behalf of my own child whose father I have become while in my chains I mean Onesimus.
Philemon 1:11who once was to thee unprofitable, and now is profitable to me and to thee,once unserviceable to thee, but now serviceable to thee and to me:Formerly he was useless to you, but now true to his name he is of great use to you and to me.
Philemon 1:12whom I did send again, and thou him (that is, my own bowels) receive,whom I have sent back to thee: [but do *thou* receive] him, that is, *my* bowels:I am sending him back to you, though in so doing I send part of myself.
Philemon 1:13whom I did wish to retain to myself, that in thy behalf he might minister to me in the bonds of the good news,whom *I* was desirous of keeping with myself, that for thee he might minister to me in the bonds of the glad tidings;It was my wish to keep him at my side for him to attend to my wants, as your representative, during my imprisonment for the Good News.
Philemon 1:14and apart from thy mind I willed to do nothing, that as of necessity thy good deed may not be, but of willingness,but I have wished to do nothing without thy mind, that thy good might not be as of necessity but of willingness:Only I wished to do nothing without your consent, so that his kind action of yours might not be done under pressure, but might be a voluntary one.
Philemon 1:15for perhaps because of this he did depart for an hour, that age-duringly thou mayest have him,for perhaps for this reason he has been separated [from thee] for a time, that thou mightest possess him fully for ever;For perhaps it was for this reason he was parted from you for a time, that you might receive him back wholly and for ever yours;
Philemon 1:16no more as a servant, but above a servant a brother beloved, especially to me, and how much more to thee, both in the flesh and in the Lord!not any longer as a bondman, but above a bondman, a beloved brother, specially to me, and how much rather to thee, both in [the] flesh and in [the] Lord?no longer as a slave, but as something better than a slave a brother peculiarly dear to me, and even dearer to you, both as a servant and as a fellow Christian.
Philemon 1:17If, then, with me thou hast fellowship, receive him as me,If therefore thou holdest me to be a partner [with thee], receive him as me;If therefore you regard me as a comrade, receive him as if he were I myself.
Philemon 1:18and if he did hurt to thee, or doth owe anything, this to me be reckoning;but if he have wronged thee anything or owe anything [to thee], put this to my account.And if he was ever dishonest or is in your debt, debit me with the amount.
Philemon 1:19I, Paul did write with my hand, I I will repay; that I may not say that also thyself, besides, to me thou dost owe.*I* Paul have written [it] with mine own hand; *I* will repay [it]: that I say not to thee that thou owest even thine own self also to me.I Paul write this with my own hand I will pay you in full. (I say nothing of the fact that you owe me even your own self.)
Philemon 1:20Yes, brother, may I have profit of thee in the Lord; refresh my bowels in the Lord;Yea, brother, *I* would have profit of *thee* in [the] Lord: refresh my bowels in Christ.Yes, brother, do me this favour for the Lord's sake. Refresh my heart in Christ.
Philemon 1:21having been confident in thy obedience I did write to thee, having known that also above what I may say thou wilt do;Being confident of thine obedience, I have written to thee, knowing that thou wilt do even more than I say.I write to you in the full confidence that you will meet my wishes, for I know you will do even more than I say.
Philemon 1:22and at the same time also prepare for me a lodging, for I hope that through your prayers I shall be granted to you.But withal prepare me also a lodging; for I hope that I shall be granted to you through your prayers.And at the same time provide accommodation for me; for I hope that through your prayers I shall be permitted to come to you.
Philemon 1:23Salute thee doth Epaphras, (my fellow-captive in Christ Jesus,)Epaphras salutes thee, my fellow-prisoner in Christ Jesus;Greetings to you, my brother, from Epaphras my fellow prisoner for the sake of Christ Jesus;
Philemon 1:24Markus, Aristarchus, Demas, Lukas, my fellow-workmen!Mark, Aristarchus, Demas, Luke, my fellow-workmen.and from Mark, Aristarchus, Demas, and Luke, my fellow workers.
Philemon 1:25The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ [is] with your spirit! Amen.The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ [be] with your spirit.May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with the spirit of every one of you.
