Matthew 21:2saying to them, `Go on to the village over-against you, and immediately ye shall find an ass bound, and a colt with her having loosed, bring ye to me;saying to them, Go into the village over against you, and immediately ye will find an ass tied, and a colt with it; loose [them] and lead [them] to me.saying to them, "Go into the village that is opposite you, and immediately you will find a donkey tied, and a colt with her. Untie them, and bring them to me.
Matthew 21:3and if any one may say anything to you, ye shall say, that the lord hath need of them, and immediately he will send them.`And if any one say anything to you, ye shall say, The Lord has need of them, and straightway he will send them.If anyone says anything to you, you will say, 'The Lord needs them,' and immediately he will send them."
Matthew 21:4And all this came to pass, that it might be fulfilled that was spoken through the prophet, saying,But all this came to pass, that that might be fulfilled which was spoken through the prophet, saying,All this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken through the prophet, saying,
Matthew 21:5`Tell ye the daughter of Zion, Lo, thy king doth come to thee, meek, and mounted on an ass, and a colt, a foal of a beast of burden.`Say to the daughter of Zion, Behold thy King cometh to thee, meek, and mounted upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass."Tell the daughter of Zion, Behold, your King comes to you, Humble, and riding on a donkey, On a colt, the foal of a donkey."
Matthew 21:6And the disciples having gone and having done as Jesus commanded them,But the disciples, having gone and done as Jesus had ordered them,The disciples went, and did just as Jesus commanded them,
Matthew 21:7brought the ass and the colt, and did put on them their garments, and set [him] upon them;brought the ass and the colt and put their garments upon them, and he sat on them.and brought the donkey and the colt, and laid their clothes on them; and he sat on them.
Matthew 21:8and the very great multitude spread their own garments in the way, and others were cutting branches from the trees, and were strewing in the way,But a very great crowd strewed their own garments on the way, and others kept cutting down branches from the trees and strewing them on the way.A very great multitude spread their clothes on the road. Others cut branches from the trees, and spread them on the road.
Matthew 21:9and the multitudes who were going before, and who were following, were crying, saying, `Hosanna to the Son of David, blessed is he who is coming in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest.`And the crowds who went before him and who followed cried, saying, Hosanna to the Son of David; blessed [be] he who comes in the name of [the] Lord; hosanna in the highest.The multitudes who went before him, and who followed, cried, "Hosanna to the son of David! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest!"
Matthew 21:10And he having entered into Jerusalem, all the city was moved, saying, `Who is this?`And as he entered into Jerusalem, the whole city was moved, saying, Who is this?When he had come into Jerusalem, all the city was stirred, saying, "Who is this?"
Matthew 21:11And the multitudes said, `This is Jesus the prophet, who [is] from Nazareth of Galilee.`And the crowds said, This is Jesus the prophet who is from Nazareth of Galilee.The multitudes said, "This is the prophet, Jesus, from Nazareth of Galilee."
Matthew 21:12And Jesus entered into the temple of God, and did cast forth all those selling and buying in the temple, and the tables of the money-changers he overturned, and the seats of those selling the doves,And Jesus entered into the temple [of God], and cast out all that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the money-changers and the seats of those that sold the doves.Jesus entered into the temple of God, and drove out all of those who sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the money-changers' tables, and the seats of those who sold the doves.
Matthew 21:13and he saith to them, `It hath been written, My house a house of prayer shall be called, but ye did make it a den of robbers.`And he says to them, It is written, My house shall be called a house of prayer, but *ye* have made it a den of robbers.He said to them, "It is written, 'My house will be called a house of prayer,' but you have made it a den of robbers!"
Matthew 21:14And there came to him blind and lame men in the temple, and he healed them,And blind and lame came to him in the temple, and he healed them.The blind and the lame came to him in the temple, and he healed them.
Matthew 21:15and the chief priests and the scribes having seen the wonderful things that he did, and the children crying in the temple, and saying, `Hosanna to the Son of David,` were much displeased;And when the chief priests and the scribes saw the wonders which he wrought, and the children crying in the temple and saying, Hosanna to the Son of David, they were indignant,But when the chief priests and the scribes saw the wonderful things that he did, and the children who were crying in the temple and saying, "Hosanna to the son of David!" they were moved with indignation,
Matthew 21:16and they said to him, `Hearest thou what these say?` And Jesus saith to them, `Yes, did ye never read, that, Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings Thou didst prepare praise?`and said to him, Hearest thou what these say? And Jesus says to them, Yea; have ye never read, Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings thou hast perfected praise?and said to him, "Do you hear what these are saying?" Jesus said to them, "Yes. Did you never read, 'Out of the mouth of babes and nursing babies you have perfected praise?'"
Matthew 21:17And having left them, he went forth out of the city to Bethany, and did lodge there,And leaving them he went forth out of the city to Bethany, and there he passed the night.He left them, and went forth out of the city to Bethany, and lodged there.
Matthew 21:18and in the morning turning back to the city, he hungered,But early in the morning, as he came back into the city, he hungered.Now in the morning, as he returned to the city, he was hungry.
Matthew 21:19and having seen a certain fig-tree on the way, he came to it, and found nothing in it except leaves only, and he saith to it, `No more from thee may fruit be to the age;` and forthwith the fig-tree withered.And seeing one fig-tree in the way, he came to it and found on it nothing but leaves only. And he says to it, Let there be never more fruit of thee for ever. And the fig-tree was immediately dried up.Seeing a fig tree by the road, he came to it, and found nothing on it but leaves. He said to it, "Let there be no fruit from you forever!" Immediately the fig tree withered away.
Matthew 21:20And the disciples having seen, did wonder, saying, `How did the fig-tree forthwith wither?`And when the disciples saw [it], they wondered, saying, How immediately is the fig-tree dried up!When the disciples saw it, they marveled, saying, "How did the fig tree immediately wither away?"
Matthew 21:21And Jesus answering said to them, `Verily I say to you, If ye may have faith, and may not doubt, not only this of the fig-tree shall ye do, but even if to this mount ye may say, Be lifted up and be cast into the sea, it shall come to pass;And Jesus answering said to them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and do not doubt, not only shall ye do what [is done] to the fig-tree, but even if ye should say to this mountain, Be thou taken away and be thou cast into the sea, it shall come to pass.Jesus answered them, "Most assuredly I tell you, if you have faith, and don't doubt, you will not only do what is done to the fig tree, but even if you will tell this mountain, 'Be taken up and cast into the sea,' it will be done.
Matthew 21:22and all as much as ye may ask in the prayer, believing, ye shall receive.`And all things whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.All things, whatever you will ask in prayer, believing, you will receive."
Matthew 21:23And he having come to the temple, there came to him when teaching the chief priests and the elders of the people, saying, `By what authority dost thou do these things? and who gave thee this authority?`And when he came into the temple, the chief priests and the elders of the people came to him [as he was] teaching, saying, By what authority doest thou these things? and who gave thee this authority?When he had come into the temple, the chief priests and the elders of the people came to him as he was teaching, and said, "By what authority do you do these things? Who gave you this authority?"
Matthew 21:24And Jesus answering said to them, `I will ask you I also one word, which if ye may tell me, I also will tell you by what authority I do these things;And Jesus answering said to them, *I* also will ask you one thing, which if ye tell me, *I* also will tell you by what authority I do these things:Jesus answered them, "I also will ask you one question, which if you tell me, I likewise will tell you by what authority I do these things.
Matthew 21:25the baptism of John, whence was it? from heaven, or from men?` And they were reasoning with themselves, saying, `If we should say, From heaven; he will say to us, Wherefore, then, did ye not believe him?The baptism of John, whence was it? of heaven or of men? And they reasoned among themselves, saying, If we should say, Of heaven, he will say to us, Why then have ye not believed him?The baptism of John, where was it from? From heaven or from men?" They reasoned with themselves, saying, "If we will say, 'From heaven,' he will tell us, 'Why then did you not believe him?'
Matthew 21:26and if we should say, From men, we fear the multitude, for all hold John as a prophet.`but if we should say, Of men, we fear the crowd, for all hold John for a prophet.But if we will say, 'From men,' we fear the multitude, for all hold John as a prophet."
Matthew 21:27And answering Jesus they said, `We have not known.` He said to them he also `Neither do I tell you by what authority I do these things.And answering Jesus they said, We do not know. *He* also said to them, Neither do *I* tell you by what authority I do these things.They answered Jesus, and said, "We don't know." He also said to them, "Neither will I tell you by what authority I do these things.
Matthew 21:28`And what think ye? A man had two children, and having come to the first, he said, Child, go, to-day be working in my vineyard.`But what think ye? A man had two children, and coming to the first he said, Child, go to-day, work in [my] vineyard.But what do you think? A man had two sons, and he came to the first, and said, 'Son, go work today in my vineyard.'
Matthew 21:29And he answering said, `I will not,` but at last, having repented, he went.And he answering said, I will not; but afterwards repenting himself he went.He answered, 'I will not,' but afterward he repented himself, and went.
Matthew 21:30`And having come to the second, he said in the same manner, and he answering said, I [go], sir, and went not;And coming to the second he said likewise; and he answering said, *I* [go], sir, and went not.He came to the second, and said likewise. He answered, 'I go, sir,' but he didn't go.
Matthew 21:31which of the two did the will of the father?` They say to him, `The first.` Jesus saith to them, `Verily I say to you, that the tax-gatherers and the harlots do go before you into the reign of God,Which of the two did the will of the father? They say [to him], The first. Jesus says to them, Verily I say unto you that the tax-gatherers and the harlots go into the kingdom of God before you.Which of the two did the will of his father?" They said to him, "The first." Jesus says to them, "Most assuredly I tell you, that the tax collectors and the prostitutes are entering into the kingdom of God before you.
Matthew 21:32for John came unto you in the way of righteousness, and ye did not believe him, and the tax-gatherers and the harlots did believe him, and ye, having seen, repented not at last to believe him.For John came to you in the way of righteousness, and ye believed him not; but the tax-gatherers and the harlots believed him; but *ye* when ye saw [it] repented not yourselves afterwards to believe him.For John came to you in the way of righteousness, and you didn't believe him, but the tax collectors and the prostitutes believed him. When you saw it, you didn't even repent afterward, that you might believe him.
Matthew 21:33`Hear ye another simile: There was a certain man, a householder, who planted a vineyard, and did put a hedge round it, and digged in it a wine-press, and built a tower, and gave it out to husbandmen, and went abroad.Hear another parable: There was a householder who planted a vineyard, and made a fence round it, and dug a winepress in it, and built a tower, and let it out to husbandmen, and left the country."Hear another parable. There was a man who was a master of a household, who planted a vineyard, set a hedge about it, dug a winepress in it, built a tower, leased it out to farmers, and went into another country.
Matthew 21:34`And when the season of the fruits came nigh, he sent his servants unto the husbandmen, to receive the fruits of it,But when the time of fruit drew near, he sent his bondmen to the husbandmen to receive his fruits.When the season of the fruits drew near, he sent his servants to the farmers, to receive his fruits.
Matthew 21:35and the husbandmen having taken his servants, one they scourged, and one they killed, and one they stoned.And the husbandmen took his bondmen, and beat one, killed another, and stoned another.The farmers took his servants, beat one, killed another, and stoned another.
Matthew 21:36`Again he sent other servants more than the first, and they did to them in the same manner.Again he sent other bondmen more than the first, and they did to them in like manner.Again, he sent other servants more than the first: and they did to them in like manner.
Matthew 21:37`And at last he sent unto them his son, saying, They will reverence my son;And at last he sent to them his son, saying, They will have respect for my son.But afterward he sent to them his son, saying, 'They will respect my son.'
Matthew 21:38and the husbandmen having seen the son, said among themselves, This is the heir, come, we may kill him, and may possess his inheritance;But the husbandmen, seeing the son, said among themselves, This is the heir; come, let us kill him and possess his inheritance.But the farmers, when they saw the son, said among themselves, 'This is the heir. Come, let's kill him, and seize his inheritance.'
Matthew 21:39and having taken him, they cast [him] out of the vineyard, and killed him;And they took him, and cast him forth out of the vineyard, and killed him.So they took him, and threw him out of the vineyard, and killed him.
Matthew 21:40whenever therefore the lord of the vineyard may come, what will he do to these husbandmen?`When therefore the lord of the vineyard comes, what shall he do to those husbandmen?When therefore the lord of the vineyard will come, what will he do to those farmers?"
Matthew 21:41They say to him, `Evil men he will evilly destroy them, and the vineyard will give out to other husbandmen, who will give back to him the fruits in their seasons.`They say to him, He will miserably destroy those evil [men], and let out the vineyard to other husbandmen, who shall render him the fruits in their seasons.They told him, "He will miserably destroy those miserable men, and will lease out the vineyard to other farmers, who will give him the fruits in their seasons."
Matthew 21:42Jesus saith to them, `Did ye never read in the Writings, A stone that the builders disallowed, it became head of a corner; from the Lord hath this come to pass, and it is wonderful in our eyes.Jesus says to them, Have ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which they that builded rejected, this has become the corner-stone: this is of [the] Lord, and it is wonderful in our eyes?Jesus said to them, "Did you never read in the scriptures, 'The stone which the builders rejected, The same was made the head of the corner. This was from the Lord. It is marvelous in our eyes?'
Matthew 21:43`Because of this I say to you, that the reign of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth its fruit;Therefore I say to you, that the kingdom of God shall be taken from you and shall be given to a nation producing the fruits of it."Therefore I tell you, the kingdom of God will be taken away from you, and will be given to a nation bringing forth its fruits.
Matthew 21:44and he who is falling on this stone shall be broken, and on whomsoever it may fall it will crush him to pieces.`And he that falls on this stone shall be broken, but on whomsoever it shall fall, it shall grind him to powder.He who falls on this stone will be broken to pieces, but on whoever it will fall, it will scatter him as dust."
Matthew 21:45And the chief priests and the Pharisees having heard his similes, knew that of them he speaketh,And the chief priests and the Pharisees, having heard his parables, knew that he spoke about them.When the chief priests and the Pharisees heard his parables, they perceived that he spoke of them.
Matthew 21:46and seeking to lay hold on him, they feared the multitudes, seeing they were holding him as a prophet.And seeking to lay hold of him, they were afraid of the crowds, because they held him for a prophet.When they sought to lay hold on him, they feared the multitudes, because they took him for a prophet.
