Matthew 9:1And having gone to the boat, he passed over, and came to his own city,And going on board the ship, he passed over and came to his own city.He entered into a boat, and crossed over, and came into his own city.
Matthew 9:2and lo, they were bringing to him a paralytic, laid upon a couch, and Jesus having seen their faith, said to the paralytic, `Be of good courage, child, thy sins have been forgiven thee.`And behold, they brought to him a paralytic, laid upon a bed; and Jesus, seeing their faith, said to the paralytic, Be of good courage, child; thy sins are forgiven.Behold, they brought to him a man who was paralyzed, lying on a bed. Jesus, seeing their faith, said to the paralytic, "Son, cheer up! Your sins are forgiven you."
Matthew 9:3And lo, certain of the scribes said within themselves, `This one doth speak evil.`And behold, certain of the scribes said to themselves, This [man] blasphemes.Behold, some of the scribes said to themselves, "This man blasphemes."
Matthew 9:4And Jesus, having known their thoughts, said, `Why think ye evil in your hearts?And Jesus, seeing their thoughts, said, Why do *ye* think evil things in your hearts?Jesus, knowing their thoughts, said, "Why do you think evil in your hearts?
Matthew 9:5for which is easier? to say, The sins have been forgiven to thee; or to say, Rise, and walk?For which is easier: to say, Thy sins are forgiven; or to say, Rise up and walk?For which is easier, to say, 'Your sins are forgiven;' or to say, 'Get up, and walk?'
Matthew 9:6`But, that ye may know that the Son of Man hath power upon the earth to forgive sins (then saith he to the paralytic) having risen, take up thy couch, and go to thy house.`But that ye may know that the Son of man has power on earth to forgive sins, (then he says to the paralytic,) Rise up, take up thy bed and go to thy house.But that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins..." (then he said to the paralytic), "Get up, and take up your mat, and go up to your house."
Matthew 9:7And he, having risen, went to his house,And he rose up and went to his house.He arose and departed to his house.
Matthew 9:8and the multitudes having seen, wondered, and glorified God, who did give such power to men.But the crowds seeing [it], were in fear, and glorified God who gave such power to men.But when the multitudes saw it, they marveled and glorified God, who had given such authority to men.
Matthew 9:9And Jesus passing by thence, saw a man sitting at the tax-office, named Matthew, and saith to him, `Be following me,` and he, having risen, did follow him.And Jesus, passing on thence, saw a man sitting at the tax-office, called Matthew, and says to him, Follow me. And he rose up and followed him.As Jesus passed by from there, he saw a man called Matthew, sitting at the tax collection office. He said to him, "Follow me." He got up and followed him.
Matthew 9:10And it came to pass, he reclining (at meat) in the house, that lo, many tax-gatherers and sinners having come, were lying (at meat) with Jesus and his disciples,And it came to pass, as he lay at table in the house, that behold, many tax-gatherers and sinners came and lay at table with Jesus and his disciples.It happened, as he sat at the table in the house, behold, many tax collectors and sinners came and sat down with Jesus and his disciples.
Matthew 9:11and the Pharisees having seen, said to his disciples, `Wherefore with the tax-gatherers and sinners doth your teacher eat?`And the Pharisees seeing [it], said to his disciples, Why does your teacher eat with tax-gatherers and sinners?When the Pharisees saw it, they said to his disciples, "Why does your teacher eat with the tax collectors and sinners?"
Matthew 9:12And Jesus having heard, said to them, `They who are whole have no need of a physician, but they who are ill;But [Jesus] hearing it, said, They that are strong have not need of a physician, but those that are ill.When Jesus heard it, he said to them, "Those who are healthy have no need for a physician, but those who are sick do.
Matthew 9:13but having gone, learn ye what is, Kindness I will, and not sacrifice, for I did not come to call righteous men, but sinners, to reformation.`But go and learn what [that] is I will have mercy and not sacrifice; for I have not come to call righteous [men] but sinners.But you go and learn what this means: 'I desire mercy, and not sacrifice,' for I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance."
Matthew 9:14Then come to him do the disciples of John, saying, `Wherefore do we and the Pharisees fast much, and thy disciples fast not?`Then come to him the disciples of John, saying, Why do we and the Pharisees often fast, but thy disciples fast not?Then John's disciples came to him, saying, "Why do we and the Pharisees fast often, but your disciples don't fast?"
Matthew 9:15And Jesus said to them, `Can the sons of the bride-chamber mourn, so long as the bridegroom is with them? but days shall come when the bridegroom may be taken from them, and then they shall fast.And Jesus said to them, Can the sons of the bridechamber mourn so long as the bridegroom is with them? But days will come when the bridegroom will have been taken away from them, and then they will fast.Jesus said to them, "Can the friends of the bridegroom mourn, as long as the bridegroom is with them? But the days will come when the bridegroom will be taken away from them, and then they will fast.
Matthew 9:16`And no one doth put a patch of undressed cloth on an old garment, for its filling up doth take from the garment, and a worse rent is made.But no one puts a patch of new cloth on an old garment, for its filling up takes from the garment and a worse rent takes place.No one puts a piece of unshrunk cloth on an old garment; for the patch would tear away from the garment, and a worse hole is made.
Matthew 9:17`Nor do they put new wine into old skins, and if not the skins burst, and the wine doth run out, and the skins are destroyed, but they put new wine into new skins, and both are preserved together.`Nor do men put new wine into old skins, otherwise the skins burst and the wine is poured out, and the skins will be destroyed; but they put new wine into new skins, and both are preserved together.Neither do people put new wine into old wineskins, or else the skins would burst, and the wine be spilled, and the skins ruined. No, they put new wine into fresh wineskins, and both are preserved."
Matthew 9:18While he is speaking these things to them, lo, a ruler having come, was bowing to him, saying that `My daughter just now died, but, having come, lay thy hand upon her, and she shall live.`As he spoke these things to them, behold, a ruler coming in did homage to him, saying, My daughter has by this died; but come and lay thy hand upon her and she shall live.While he told these things to them, behold, a ruler came and worshipped him, saying, "My daughter has just died, but come and lay your hand on her, and she will live."
Matthew 9:19And Jesus having risen, did follow him, also his disciples,And Jesus rose up and followed him, and [so did] his disciples.Jesus got up and followed him, as did his disciples.
Matthew 9:20and lo, a woman having an issue of blood twelve years, having come to him behind, did touch the fringe of his garments,And behold, a woman, who had had a bloody flux [for] twelve years, came behind and touched the hem of his garment;Behold, a woman, who had an issue of blood for twelve years, came behind him, and touched the tassels of his garment;
Matthew 9:21for she said within herself, `If only I may touch his garment, I shall be saved.`for she said within herself, If I should only touch his garment I shall be healed.for she said within herself, "If I just touch his garment, I will be made well."
Matthew 9:22And Jesus having turned about, and having seen her, said, `Be of good courage, daughter, thy faith hath saved thee,` and the woman was saved from that hour.But Jesus turning and seeing her, said, Be of good courage, daughter; thy faith has healed thee. And the woman was healed from that hour.But Jesus, turning around and seeing her, said, "Daughter, cheer up! Your faith has made you well." And the woman was made well from that hour.
Matthew 9:23And Jesus having come to the house of the ruler, and having seen the minstrels and the multitude making tumult,And when Jesus was come to the house of the ruler, and saw the flute-players and the crowd making a tumult,When Jesus came into the ruler's house, and saw the flute players, and the crowd in noisy disorder,
Matthew 9:24he saith to them, `Withdraw, for the damsel did not die, but doth sleep,` and they were deriding him;he said, Withdraw, for the damsel is not dead, but sleeps. And they derided him.he said to them, "Make room, because the young lady isn't dead, but sleeping." They laughed him to scorn.
Matthew 9:25but, when the multitude was put forth, having gone in, he took hold of her hand, and the damsel arose,But when the crowd had been put out, he went in and took her hand; and the damsel rose up.But when the crowd was put out, he entered in, took her by the hand, and the young lady arose.
Matthew 9:26and the fame of this went forth to all the land.And the fame of it went out into all that land.The report of this went forth into all that land.
Matthew 9:27And Jesus passing on thence, two blind men followed him, calling and saying, `Deal kindly with us, Son of David.`And as Jesus passed on thence, two blind [men] followed him, crying and saying, Have mercy on us, Son of David.As Jesus passed by from there, two blind men followed him, calling out and saying, "Have mercy on us, son of David!"
Matthew 9:28And he having come to the house, the blind men came to him, and Jesus saith to them, `Believe ye that I am able to do this?` They say to him, `Yes, sir.`And when he was come to the house, the blind [men] came to him. And Jesus says to them, Do ye believe that I am able to do this? They say to him, Yea, Lord.When he had come into the house, the blind men came to him. Jesus said to them, "Do you believe that I am able to do this?" They told him, "Yes, Lord."
Matthew 9:29Then touched he their eyes, saying, `According to your faith let it be to you,`Then he touched their eyes, saying, According to your faith, be it unto you.Then he touched their eyes, saying, "According to your faith be it done to you."
Matthew 9:30and their eyes were opened, and Jesus strictly charged them, saying, `See, let no one know;`And their eyes were opened; and Jesus charged them sharply, saying, See, let no man know it.Their eyes were opened. Jesus strictly charged them, saying, "See that no one knows about this."
Matthew 9:31but they, having gone forth, did spread his fame in all that land.But they, when they were gone out, spread his name abroad in all that land.But they went out and spread abroad his fame in all that land.
Matthew 9:32And as they are coming forth, lo, they brought to him a man dumb, a demoniac,But as these were going out, behold, they brought to him a dumb man possessed by a demon.As they went forth, behold, there was brought to him a mute man who was demon possessed.
Matthew 9:33and the demon having been cast out, the dumb spake, and the multitude did wonder, saying that `It was never so seen in Israel:`And the demon having been cast out, the dumb spake. And the crowds were astonished, saying, It has never been seen thus in Israel.When the demon was cast out, the mute man spoke. The multitudes marveled, saying, "Nothing like this has ever been seen in Israel!"
Matthew 9:34but the Pharisees said, `By the ruler of the demons he doth cast out the demons.`But the Pharisees said, He casts out the demons through the prince of the demons.But the Pharisees said, "By the prince of the demons, he casts out demons."
Matthew 9:35And Jesus was going up and down all the cities and the villages, teaching in their synagogues, and proclaiming the good news of the reign, and healing every sickness and every malady among the people.And Jesus went round all the cities and the villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the glad tidings of the kingdom, and healing every disease and every bodily weakness.Jesus went about all the cities and the villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every disease and every sickness among the people.
Matthew 9:36And having seen the multitudes, he was moved with compassion for them, that they were faint and cast aside, as sheep not having a shepherd,But when he saw the crowds he was moved with compassion for them, because they were harassed, and cast away as sheep not having a shepherd.But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion for them, because they were weary and scattered, as sheep without a shepherd.
Matthew 9:37then saith he to his disciples, `The harvest indeed [is] abundant, but the workmen few;Then saith he to his disciples, The harvest [is] great and the workmen [are] few;Then he said to his disciples, "The harvest indeed is plentiful, but the laborers are few.
Matthew 9:38beseech ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he may put forth workmen to His harvest.`supplicate therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he send forth workmen unto his harvest.Pray therefore that the Lord of the harvest will send forth laborers into his harvest."
