Acts 10:1And there was a certain man in Cesarea, by name Cornelius, a centurion from a band called Italian,And there was a certain man in Caesarea, named Cornelius, a centurion of that which is called the Italian band;Now [there was] a certain man in Caesarea, Cornelius by name, a centurion of the band called the Italian [band],
Acts 10:2pious, and fearing God with all his house, doing also many kind acts to the people, and beseeching God always,A religious man, and fearing God with all his house, giving much alms to the people, and always praying to God.a devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, who gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God always.
Acts 10:3he saw in a vision manifestly, as it were the ninth hour of the day, a messenger of God coming in unto him, and saying to him, `Cornelius;`This man saw in a vision manifestly, about the ninth hour of the day, an angel of God coming in unto him, and saying to him: Cornelius.He saw in a vision openly, as it were about the ninth hour of the day, an angel of God coming in unto him, and saying to him, Cornelius.
Acts 10:4and he having looked earnestly on him, and becoming afraid, said, `What is it, Lord?` And he said to him, `Thy prayers and thy kind acts came up for a memorial before God,And he, beholding him, being seized with fear, said: What is it, Lord? And he said to him: Thy prayers and thy alms are ascended for a memorial in the sight of God.And he, fastening his eyes upon him, and being affrighted, said, What is it, Lord? And he said unto him, Thy prayers and thine alms are gone up for a memorial before God.
Acts 10:5and now send men to Joppa, and send for a certain one Simon, who is surnamed Peter,And now send men to Joppe, and call hither one Simon, who is surnamed Peter:And now send men to Joppa, and fetch one Simon, who is surnamed Peter:
Acts 10:6this one doth lodge with a certain Simon a tanner, whose house is by the sea; this one shall speak to thee what it behoveth thee to do.`He lodgeth with one Simon a tanner, whose house is by the sea side. He will tell thee what thou must do.he lodgeth with one Simon a tanner, whose house is by the sea side.
Acts 10:7And when the messenger who is speaking to Cornelius went away, having called two of his domestics, and a pious soldier of those waiting on him continually,And when the angel who spoke to him was departed, he called two of his household servants, and a soldier who feared the Lord, of them that were under him.And when the angel that spake unto him was departed, he called two of his household-servants, and a devout soldier of them that waited on him continually;
Acts 10:8and having declared to them all things, he sent them to Joppa.To whom when he had related all, he sent them to Joppe.and having rehearsed all things unto them, he sent them to Joppa.
Acts 10:9And on the morrow, as these are proceeding on the way, and are drawing nigh to the city, Peter went up upon the house-top to pray, about the sixth hour,And on the next day, whilst they were going on their journey, and drawing nigh to the city, Peter went up to the higher parts of the house to pray, about the sixth hour.Now on the morrow, as they were on their journey, and drew nigh unto the city, Peter went up upon the housetop to pray, about the sixth hour:
Acts 10:10and he became very hungry, and wished to eat; and they making ready, there fell upon him a trance,And being hungry, he was desirous to taste somewhat. And as they were preparing, there came upon him an ecstasy of mind.and he became hungry, and desired to eat: but while they made ready, he fell into a trance;
Acts 10:11and he doth behold the heaven opened, and descending unto him a certain vessel, as a great sheet, bound at the four corners, and let down upon the earth,And he saw the heaven opened, and a certain vessel descending, as it were a great linen sheet let down by the four corners from heaven to the earth:and he beholdeth the heaven opened, and a certain vessel descending, as it were a great sheet, let down by four corners upon the earth:
Acts 10:12in which were all the four-footed beasts of the earth, and the wild beasts, and the creeping things, and the fowls of the heaven,Wherein were all manner of fourfooted beasts, and creeping things of the earth, and fowls of the air.wherein were all manner of fourfooted beasts and creeping things of the earth and birds of the heaven.
Acts 10:13and there came a voice unto him: `Having risen, Peter, slay and eat.`And there came a voice to him: Arise, Peter; kill and eat.And there came a voice to him, Rise, Peter; kill and eat.
Acts 10:14And Peter said, `Not so, Lord; because at no time did I eat anything common or unclean;`But Peter said: Far be it from me; for I never did eat any thing that is common and unclean.But Peter said, Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten anything that is common and unclean.
Acts 10:15and [there is] a voice again a second time unto him: `What God did cleanse, thou, declare not thou common;`And the voice spoke to him again the second time: That which God hath cleansed, do not thou call common.And a voice [came] unto him again the second time, What God hath cleansed, make not thou common.
Acts 10:16and this was done thrice, and again was the vessel received up to the heaven.And this was done thrice; and presently the vessel was taken up into heaven.And this was done thrice: and straightway the vessel was received up into heaven.
Acts 10:17And as Peter was perplexed in himself what the vision that he saw might be, then, lo, the men who have been sent from Cornelius, having made inquiry for the house of Simon, stood at the gate,Now, whilst Peter was doubting within himself, what the vision that he had seen should mean, behold the men who were sent from Cornelius, inquiring for Simon's house, stood at the gate.Now while Peter was much perplexed in himself what the vision which he had seen might mean, behold, the men that were sent by Cornelius, having made inquiry for Simon's house, stood before the gate,
Acts 10:18and having called, they were asking if Simon, who is surnamed Peter, doth lodge here?And when they had called, they asked, if Simon, who is surnamed Peter, were lodged there.and called and asked whether Simon, who was surnamed Peter, were lodging there.
Acts 10:19And Peter thinking about the vision, the Spirit said to him, `Lo, three men do seek thee;And as Peter was thinking of the vision, the Spirit said to him: Behold three men seek thee.And while Peter thought on the vision, the Spirit said unto him, Behold, three men seek thee.
Acts 10:20but having risen, go down and go on with them, nothing doubting, because I have sent them;`Arise, therefore, get thee down and go with them, doubting nothing: for I have sent them.But arise, and get thee down, and go with them, nothing doubting: for I have sent them.
Acts 10:21and Peter having come down unto the men who have been sent from Cornelius unto him, said, `Lo, I am he whom ye seek, what [is] the cause for which ye are present?`Then Peter, going down to the men, said: Behold, I am he whom you seek; what is the cause for which you are come?And Peter went down to the men, and said, Behold, I am he whom ye seek: what is the cause wherefore ye are come?
Acts 10:22And they said, `Cornelius, a centurion, a man righteous and fearing God, well testified to, also, by all the nation of the Jews, was divinely warned by a holy messenger to send for thee, to his house, and to hear sayings from thee.`Who said: Cornelius, a centurion, a just man, and one that feareth God, and having good testimony from all the nation of the Jews, received an answer of an holy angel, to send for thee into his house, and to hear words of thee.And they said, Cornelius a centurion, a righteous man and one that feareth God, and well reported of by all the nation of the Jews, was warned [of God] by a holy angel to send for thee into his house, and to hear words from thee.
Acts 10:23Having called them in, therefore, he lodged them, and on the morrow Peter went forth with them, and certain of the brethren from Joppa went with him,Then bringing them in, he lodged them. And the day following he arose, and went with them: and some of the brethren from Joppe accompanied him.So he called them in and lodged them. And on the morrow he arose and went forth with them, and certain of the brethren from Joppa accompanied him.
Acts 10:24and on the morrow they did enter into Cesarea; and Cornelius was waiting for them, having called together his kindred and near friends,And the morrow after, he entered into Caesarea. And Cornelius waited for them, having called together his kinsmen and special friends.And on the morrow they entered into Caesarea. And Cornelius was waiting for them, having called together his kinsmen and his near friends.
Acts 10:25and as it came that Peter entered in, Cornelius having met him, having fallen at [his] feet, did bow before [him];And it came to pass, that when Peter was come in, Cornelius came to meet him, Cornelius came to meet him, and falling at his feet adored.And when it came to pass that Peter entered, Cornelius met him, and fell down at his feet, and worshipped him.
Acts 10:26and Peter raised him, saying, `Stand up; I also myself am a man;`But Peter lifted him up, saying: Arise, I myself also am a man.But Peter raised him up, saying, Stand up; I myself also am a man.
Acts 10:27and talking with him he went in, and doth find many having come together.And talking with him, he went in, and found many that were come together.And as he talked with him, he went in, and findeth many come together:
Acts 10:28And he said unto them, `Ye know how it is unlawful for a man, a Jew, to keep company with, or to come unto, one of another race, but to me God did shew to call no man common or unclean;And he said to them: You know how abominable it is for a man that is a Jew, to keep company or to come unto one of another nation: but God hath shewed to me, to call no man common or unclean.and he said unto them, Ye yourselves know how it is an unlawful thing for a man that is a Jew to join himself or come unto one of another nation; and [yet] unto me hath God showed that I should not call any man common or unclean:
Acts 10:29therefore also without gainsaying I came, having been sent for; I ask, therefore, for what matter ye did send for me?`For which cause, making no doubt, I came when I was sent for. I ask, therefore, for what cause you have sent for me?wherefore also I came without gainsaying, when I was sent for. I ask therefore with what intent ye sent for me.
Acts 10:30And Cornelius said, `Four days ago till this hour, I was fasting, and [at] the ninth hour praying in my house, and, lo, a man stood before me in bright clothing,And Cornelius said: Four days ago, unto this hour, I was praying in my house, at the ninth hour, and behold a man stood before me in white apparel, and said:And Cornelius said, Four days ago, until this hour, I was keeping the ninth hour of prayer in my house; and behold, a man stood before me in bright apparel,
Acts 10:31and he said, Cornelius, thy prayer was heard, and thy kind acts were remembered before God;Cornelius, thy prayer is heard, and thy alms are had in remembrance in the sight of God.and saith, Cornelius, thy prayer is heard, and thine alms are had in remembrance in the sight of God.
Acts 10:32send, therefore, to Joppa, and call for Simon, who is surnamed Peter; this one doth lodge in the house of Simon a tanner, by the sea, who having come, shall speak to thee;Send therefore to Joppe, and call hither Simon, who is surnamed Peter: he lodgeth in the house of Simon a tanner, by the sea side.Send therefore to Joppa, and call unto thee Simon, who is surnamed Peter; he lodgeth in the house of Simon a tanner, by the sea side.
Acts 10:33at once, therefore, I sent to thee; thou also didst do well, having come; now, therefore, are we all before God present to hear all things that have been commanded thee by God.`Immediately therefore I sent to thee: and thou hast done well in coming. Now therefore all we are present in thy sight, to hear all things whatsoever are commanded thee by the Lord.Forthwith therefore I sent to thee; and thou hast well done that thou art come. Now therefore we are all here present in the sight of God, to hear all things that have been commanded thee of the Lord.
Acts 10:34And Peter having opened his mouth, said, `Of a truth, I perceive that God is no respecter of persons,And Peter opening his mouth, said: In very deed I perceive, that God is not a respecter of persons.And Peter opened his mouth and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:
Acts 10:35but in every nation he who is fearing Him, and is working righteousness, is acceptable to Him;But in every nation, he that feareth him, and worketh justice, is acceptable to him.but in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is acceptable to him.
Acts 10:36the word that he sent to the sons of Israel, proclaiming good news peace through Jesus Christ (this one is Lord of all,)God sent the word to the children of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christ: (he is Lord of all.)The word which he sent unto the children of Israel, preaching good tidings of peace by Jesus Christ (He is Lord of all.) --
Acts 10:37ye ye have known; the word that came throughout all Judea, having begun from Galilee, after the baptism that John preached;You know the word which hath been published through all Judea: for it began from Galilee, after the baptism which John preached,that saying ye yourselves know, which was published throughout all Judaea, beginning from Galilee, after the baptism which John preached;
Acts 10:38Jesus who [is] from Nazareth how God did anoint him with the Holy Spirit and power; who went through, doing good, and healing all those oppressed by the devil, because God was with him;Jesus of Nazareth: how God anointed him with the Holy Ghost, and with power, who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him.[even] Jesus of Nazareth, how God anointed him with the Holy Spirit and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.
Acts 10:39and we we are witnesses of all things that he did, both in the country of the Jews, and in Jerusalem, whom they did slay, having hanged upon a tree.And we are witnesses of all things that he did in the land of the Jews and in Jerusalem, whom they killed, hanging him upon a tree.And we are witnesses of all things which he did both in the country of the Jews, and in Jerusalem; whom also they slew, hanging him on a tree.
Acts 10:40`This one God did raise up the third day, and gave him to become manifest,Him God raised up the third day, and gave him to be made manifest,Him God raised up the third day, and gave him to be made manifest,
Acts 10:41not to all the people, but to witnesses, to those having been chosen before by God to us who did eat with [him], and did drink with him, after his rising out of the dead;Not to all the people, but to witnesses preordained by God, even to us, who did eat and drink with him after he arose again from the dead;not to all the people, but unto witnesses that were chosen before of God, [even] to us, who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead.
Acts 10:42and he commanded us to preach to the people, and to testify fully that it is he who hath been ordained by God judge of living and deadAnd he commanded us to preach to the people, and to testify that it is he who was appointed by God, to be judge of the living and of the dead.And he charged us to preach unto the people, and to testify that this is he who is ordained of God [to be] the Judge of the living and the dead.
Acts 10:43to this one do all the prophets testify, that through his name every one that is believing in him doth receive remission of sins.`To him all the prophets give testimony, that by his name all receive remission of sins, who believe in him.To him bear all the prophets witness, that through his name every one that believeth on him shall receive remission of sins.
Acts 10:44While Peter is yet speaking these sayings, the Holy spirit fell upon all those hearing the word,While Peter was yet speaking these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them that heard the word.While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Spirit fell on all them that heard the word.
Acts 10:45and those of the circumcision believing were astonished as many as came with Peter because also upon the nations the gift of the Holy Spirit hath been poured out,And the faithful of the circumcision, who came with Peter, were astonished, for that the grace of the Holy Ghost was poured out upon the Gentiles also.And they of the circumcision that believed were amazed, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Spirit.
Acts 10:46for they were hearing them speaking with tongues and magnifying God.For they heard them speaking with tongues, and magnifying God.For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter,
Acts 10:47Then answered Peter, `The water is any one able to forbid, that these may not be baptized, who the Holy Spirit did receive even as also we?`Then Peter answered: Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, who have received the Holy Ghost, as well as we?Can any man forbid the water, that these should not be baptized, who have received the Holy Spirit as well as we?
Acts 10:48he commanded them also to be baptized in the name of the Lord; then they besought him to remain certain days.And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Then they desired him to tarry with them some days.And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.
