Habakkuk 3:1A prayer of Habakkuk the prophet concerning erring ones:A PRAYER OF HABACUC THE PROPHET FOR IGNORANCES.A prayer of Habakkuk the prophet, put to Shigionoth.
Habakkuk 3:2O Jehovah, I heard thy report, I have been afraid, O Jehovah, Thy work! in midst of years revive it, In the midst of years Thou makest known In anger Thou dost remember mercy.O Lord, I have heard thy hearing, and was afraid. O Lord, thy work, in the midst of the years bring it to life: In the midst of the years thou shalt make it known: when thou art angry, thou wilt remember mercy.O Lord, word of you has come to my ears; I have seen your work, O Lord; when the years come near make it clear; in wrath keep mercy in mind.
Habakkuk 3:3God from Teman doth come, The Holy One from mount Paran. Pause! Covered the heavens hath His majesty, And His praise hath filled the earth.God will come from the south, and the holy one from mount Pharan: His glory covered the heavens, and the earth is full of his praise.God came from Teman, and the Holy One from Mount Paran. Selah. The heavens were covered with his glory, and the earth was full of his praise.
Habakkuk 3:4And the brightness is as the light, He hath rays out of His hand, And there the hiding of His strength. His brightness shall be as the light; horns are in his hands: There is his strength hid:He was shining like the light; he had rays coming out from his hand: there his power was kept secret.
Habakkuk 3:5Before Him goeth pestilence, And a burning flame goeth forth at His feet.Death shall go before his face. And the devil shall go forth before his feet. Before him went disease, and flames went out at his feet.
Habakkuk 3:6He hath stood, and He measureth earth, He hath seen, and He shaketh off nations, And scatter themselves do mountains of antiquity, Bowed have the hills of old, The ways of old [are] His.He stood and measured the earth. He beheld, and melted the nations: and the ancient mountains were crushed to pieces. The hills of the world were bowed down by the journeys of his eternity. From his high place he sent shaking on the earth; he saw and nations were suddenly moved: and the eternal mountains were broken, the unchanging hills were bent down; his ways are eternal.
Habakkuk 3:7Under sorrow I have seen tents of Cushan, Tremble do curtains of the land of Midian.I saw the tents of Ethiopia for their iniquity, the curtains of the land of Madian shall be troubled. The curtains of Cushan were troubled, and the tents of Midian were shaking.
Habakkuk 3:8Against rivers hath Jehovah been wroth? Against rivers [is] Thine anger? Against the sea [is] Thy wrath? For Thou dost ride on Thy horses Thy chariots of salvation?Wast thou angry, O Lord, with the rivers? or was thy wrath upon the rivers? or thy indignation in the sea? Who will ride upon thy horses: and thy chariots are salvation. Was your wrath burning against the rivers? were you angry with the sea, that you went on your horses, on your war-carriages of salvation?
Habakkuk 3:9Utterly naked Thou dost make Thy bow, Sworn are the tribes saying, `Pause!` [With] rivers Thou dost cleave the earth.Thou wilt surely take up thy bow: according to the oaths which thou hast spoken to the tribes. Thou wilt divide the rivers of the earth.Your bow was quite uncovered. Selah. By you the earth was cut through with rivers.
Habakkuk 3:10Seen thee pained are mountains, An inundation of waters hath passed over, Given forth hath the deep its voice, High its hands it hath lifted up.The mountains saw thee, and were grieved: the great body of waters passed away. The deep put forth its voice: the deep lifted up its hands. The mountains saw you and were moved with fear; the clouds were streaming with water: the voice of the deep was sounding; the sun did not come up, and the moon kept still in her place.
Habakkuk 3:11Sun moon hath stood a habitation, At the light thine arrows go on, At the brightness, the glittering of thy spear. The sun and the moon stood still in their habitation, in the light of thy arrows, they shall go in the brightness of thy glittering spear. At the light of your arrows they went away, at the shining of your polished spear.
Habakkuk 3:12In indignation Thou dost tread earth, In anger Thou dost thresh nations. In thy anger thou wilt tread the earth under foot: in thy wrath thou wilt astonish the nations. You went stepping through the land in wrath, crushing the nations in your passion.
Habakkuk 3:13Thou hast gone forth for the salvation of Thy people, For salvation with Thine anointed, Thou hast smitten the head of the house of the wicked, Laying bare the foundation unto the neck. Pause!Thou wentest forth for the salvation of thy people: for salvation with thy Christ. Thou struckest the head of the house of the wicked: thou hast laid bare his foundation even to the neck. You went out for the salvation of your people, for the salvation of the one on whom your holy oil was put; wounding the head of the family of the evil-doer, uncovering the base even to the neck. Selah.
Habakkuk 3:14Thou hast pierced with his staves the head of his leaders, They are tempestuous to scatter me, Their exultation [is] as to consume the poor in secret.Thou hast cursed his sceptres, the head of his warriors, them that came out as a whirlwind to scatter me. Their joy was like that of him that devoureth the poor man in secret. You have put your spears through his head, his horsemen were sent in flight like dry stems; they had joy in driving away the poor, in making a meal of them secretly.
Habakkuk 3:15Thou hast proceeded through the sea with Thy horses the clay of many waters.Thou madest a way in the sea for thy horses, in the mud of many waters. The feet of your horses were on the sea, on the mass of great waters.
Habakkuk 3:16I have heard, and my belly trembleth, At the noise have my lips quivered, Rottenness doth come into my bones, And in my place I do tremble, That I rest for a day of distress, At the coming up of the people, he overcometh it.I have heard and my bowels were troubled: my lips trembled at the voice. Let rottenness enter into my bones, and swarm under me. That I may rest in the day of tribulation: that I may go up to our people that are girded.Hearing it, my inner parts were moved, and my lips were shaking at the sound; my bones became feeble, and my steps were uncertain under me: I gave sounds of grief in the day of trouble, when his forces came up against the people in bands.
Habakkuk 3:17Though the fig-tree doth not flourish, And there is no produce among vines, Failed hath the work of the olive, And fields have not yielded food, Cut off from the fold hath been the flock, And there is no herd in the stalls. For the fig tree shall not blossom: and there shall be no spring in the vines. The labour of the olive tree shall fail: and the fields shall yield no food: the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls. For though the fig-tree has no flowers, and there is no fruit on the vine, and work on the olive comes to nothing, and the fields give no food; and the flock is cut off from its resting-place, and there is no herd in the cattle-house:
Habakkuk 3:18Yet I, in Jehovah I exult, I do joy in the God of my salvation. But I will rejoice in the Lord: and I will joy in God my Jesus.Still, I will be glad in the Lord, my joy will be in the God of my salvation.
Habakkuk 3:19Jehovah the Lord [is] my strength, And He doth make my feet like hinds, And on my high-places causeth me to tread. To the overseer with my stringed instruments! The Lord God is my strength: and he will make my feet like the feet of harts: and he the conqueror will lead me upon my high places singing psalms. The Lord God is my strength, and he makes my feet like roes' feet, guiding me on my high places. For the chief music-maker on corded instruments.
