1st-Peter 5:1Elders who [are] among you, I exhort, who [am] a fellow-elder, and a witness of the sufferings of the Christ, and of the glory about to be revealed a partaker,The ancients therefore that are among you, I beseech, who am myself also an ancient, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ: as also a partaker of that glory which is to be revealed in time to come:So I exhort the Elders among you I who am their fellow Elder and have been an eye-witness of the sufferings of the Christ, and am also a sharer in the glory which is soon to be revealed.
1st-Peter 5:2feed the flock of God that [is] among you, overseeing not constrainedly, but willingly, neither for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind,Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking care of it, not by constraint, but willingly, according to God: not for filthy lucre's sake, but voluntarily:Be shepherds of God's flock which is among you. Exercise the oversight not reluctantly but eagerly, in accordance with the will of God; not for base gain but with cheerful minds;
1st-Peter 5:3neither as exercising lordship over the heritages, but patterns becoming of the flock,Neither as lording it over the clergy, but being made a pattern of the flock from the heart.not lording it over your Churches but proving yourselves patterns for the flock to imitate.
1st-Peter 5:4and at the manifestation of the chief Shepherd, ye shall receive the unfading crown of glory.And when the prince of pastors shall appear, you shall receive a never fading crown of glory.And then, when the chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the never-withering wreath of glory.
1st-Peter 5:5In like manner, ye younger, be subject to elders, and all to one another subjecting yourselves; with humble-mindedness clothe yourselves, because God the proud doth resist, but to the humble He doth give grace;In like manner, ye young men, be subject to the ancients. And do you all insinuate humility one to another, for God resisteth the proud, but to the humble he giveth grace.In the same way you younger men must submit to your elders; and all of you must gird yourselves with humility towards one another, for God sets Himself against the proud, but gives grace to the humble.
1st-Peter 5:6be humbled, then, under the powerful hand of God, that you He may exalt in good time,Be you humbled therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in the time of visitation:Humble yourselves therefore beneath the mighty hand of God, so that at the right time He may set you on high.
1st-Peter 5:7all your care having cast upon Him, because He careth for you.Casting all your care upon him, for he hath care of you.Throw the whole of your anxiety upon Him, because He Himself cares for you.
1st-Peter 5:8Be sober, vigilant, because your opponent the devil, as a roaring lion, doth walk about, seeking whom he may swallow up,Be sober and watch: because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, goeth about seeking whom he may devour.Curb every passion, and be on the alert. Your great accuser, the Devil, is going about like a roaring lion to see whom he can devour.
1st-Peter 5:9whom resist, stedfast in the faith, having known the same sufferings to your brotherhood in the world to be accomplished.Whom resist ye, strong in faith: knowing that the same affliction befalls your brethren who are in the world.Withstand him, firm in your faith; knowing that your brethren in other parts of the world are passing through just the same experiences.
1st-Peter 5:10And the God of all grace, who did call you to His age-during glory in Christ Jesus, having suffered a little, Himself make you perfect, establish, strengthen, settle [you];But the God of all grace, who hath called us into his eternal glory in Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a little, will himself perfect you, and confirm you, and establish you.And God, the giver of all grace, who has called you to share His eternal glory, through Christ, after you have suffered for a short time, will Himself make you perfect, firm, and strong.
1st-Peter 5:11to Him [is] the glory, and the power to the ages and the ages! Amen.To him be glory and empire for ever and ever. Amen.To Him be all power unto the Ages of the Ages! Amen.
1st-Peter 5:12Through Silvanus, to you the faithful brother, as I reckon, through few [words] I did write, exhorting and testifying this to be the true grace of God in which ye have stood.By Sylvanus, a faithful brother unto you, as I think, I have written briefly: beseeching and testifying that this is the true grace of God, wherein you stand.I send this short letter by Silas, our faithful brother for such I regard him in order to encourage you, and to bear witness that what I have told you is the true grace of God. In it stand fast.
1st-Peter 5:13Salute you doth the [assembly] in Babylon jointly elected, and Markus my son.The church that is in Babylon, elected together with you, saluteth you: and so doth my son Mark.The Church in Babylon, chosen like yourselves by God, sends greetings, and so does Mark my son.
1st-Peter 5:14Salute ye one another in a kiss of love; peace to you all who [are] in Christ Jesus! Amen.Salute one another with a holy kiss. Grace be to all you, who are in Christ Jesus. Amen.Greet one another with a kiss of love. Peace be with all of you who are in Christ.
