Matthew 24:1 | And having gone forth, Jesus departed from the temple, and his disciples came near to show him the buildings of the temple, | And Jesus being come out of the temple, went away. And his disciples came to shew him the buildings of the temple. | Jesus had left the Temple and was going on His way, when His disciples came and called His attention to the Temple buildings. |
Matthew 24:2 | and Jesus said to them, `Do ye not see all these? verily I say to you, There may not be left here a stone upon a stone, that shall not be thrown down.` | And he answering, said to them: Do you see all these things? Amen I say to you there shall not be left here a stone upon a stone that shall not be destroyed. | "You see all these?" He replied; "in solemn truth I tell you that there will not be left here one stone upon another that will not be pulled down." |
Matthew 24:3 | And when he is sitting on the mount of the Olives, the disciples came near to him by himself, saying, `Tell us, when shall these be? and what [is] the sign of thy presence, and of the full end of the age?` | And when he was sitting on mount Olivet, the disciples came to him privately, saying: Tell us when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the consummation of the world? | Afterwards He was on the Mount of Olives and was seated there when the disciples came to Him, apart from the others, and said, "Tell us when this will be; and what will be the sign of your Coming and of the Close of the Age?" |
Matthew 24:4 | And Jesus answering said to them, `Take heed that no one may lead you astray, | And Jesus answering, said to them: Take heed that no man seduce you: | "Take care that no one misleads you," answered Jesus; |
Matthew 24:5 | for many shall come in my name, saying, I am the Christ, and they shall lead many astray, | For many will come in my name saying, I am Christ: and they will seduce many. | "for many will come assuming my name and saying `I am the Christ;' and they will mislead many. |
Matthew 24:6 | and ye shall begin to hear of wars, and reports of wars; see, be not troubled, for it behoveth all [these] to come to pass, but the end is not yet. | And you shall hear of wars and rumours of wars. See that ye be not troubled. For these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. | And before long you will hear of wars and rumours of wars. Do not be alarmed, for such things must be; but the End is not yet. |
Matthew 24:7 | `For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places; | For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; and there shall be pestilences, and famines, and earthquakes in places: | For nation will rise in arms against nation, kingdom against kingdom, and there will be famines and earthquakes in various places; |
Matthew 24:8 | and all these [are] the beginning of sorrows; | Now all these are the beginnings of sorrows. | but all these miseries are but like the early pains of childbirth. |
Matthew 24:9 | then they shall deliver you up to tribulation, and shall kill you, and ye shall be hated by all the nations because of my name; | Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall put you to death: and you shall be hated by all nations for my name's sake. | "At that time they will deliver you up to punishment and will put you to death; and you will be objects of hatred to all the nations because you are called by my name. |
Matthew 24:10 | and then shall many be stumbled, and they shall deliver up one another, and shall hate one another. | And then shall many be scandalized: and shall betray one another: and shall hate one another. | Then will many stumble and fall, and they will betray one another and hate one another. |
Matthew 24:11 | `And many false prophets shall arise, and shall lead many astray; | And many false prophets shall rise, and shall seduce many. | Many false prophets will rise up and lead multitudes astray; |
Matthew 24:12 | and because of the abounding of the lawlessness, the love of the many shall become cold; | And because iniquity hath abounded, the charity of many shall grow cold. | and because of the prevalent disregard of God's law the love of the great majority will grow cold; |
Matthew 24:13 | but he who did endure to the end, he shall be saved; | But he that shall persevere to the end, he shall be saved. | but those who stand firm to the End shall be saved. |
Matthew 24:14 | and this good news of the reign shall be proclaimed in all the world, for a testimony to all the nations; and then shall the end arrive. | And this gospel of the kingdom, shall be preached in the whole world, for a testimony to all nations, and then shall the consummation come. | And this Good News of the Kingdom shall be proclaimed throughout the whole world to set the evidence before all the Gentiles; and then the End will come. |
Matthew 24:15 | `Whenever, therefore, ye may see the abomination of the desolation, that was spoken of through Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place (whoever is reading let him observe) | When therefore you shall see the abomination of desolation, which was spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place: he that readeth let him understand. | "When you have seen (to use the language of the Prophet Daniel) the `Abomination of Desolation', standing in the Holy Place" let the reader observe those words |
Matthew 24:16 | then those in Judea let them flee to the mounts; | Then they that are in Judea, let them flee to the mountains: | "then let those who are in Judaea escape to the hills; |
Matthew 24:17 | he on the house-top let him not come down to take up any thing out of his house; | And he that is on the housetop, let him not come down to take any thing out of his house: | let him who is on the roof not go down to fetch what is in his house; |
Matthew 24:18 | and he in the field let him not turn back to take his garments. | And he that is in the field, let him not go back to take his coat. | nor let him who is outside the city stay to pick up his outer garment. |
Matthew 24:19 | `And wo to those with child, and to those giving suck in those days; | And woe to them that are with child, and that give suck in those days. | And alas for the women who at that time are with child or have infants! |
Matthew 24:20 | and pray ye that your flight may not be in winter, nor on a sabbath; | But pray that your flight be not in the winter, or on the sabbath. | "But pray that your flight may not be in winter, nor on the Sabbath; |
Matthew 24:21 | for there shall be then great tribulation, such as was not from the beginning of the world till now, no, nor may be. | For there shall be then great tribulation, such as hath not been from the beginning of the world until now, neither shall be. | for it will be a time of great suffering, such as never has been from the beginning of the world till now, and assuredly never will be again. |
Matthew 24:22 | And if those days were not shortened, no flesh would have been saved; but because of the chosen, shall those days be shortened. | And unless those days had been shortened, no flesh should be saved: but for the sake of the elect those days shall be shortened. | And if those days had not been cut short, no one would escape; but for the sake of God's own People those days will be cut short. |
Matthew 24:23 | `Then if any one may say to you, Lo, here [is] the Christ! or here! ye may not believe; | Then if any man shall say to you: Lo here is Christ, or there, do not believe him. | "If at that time any one should say to you, `See, here is the Christ!' or `Here!' give no credence to it. |
Matthew 24:24 | for there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and they shall give great signs and wonders, so as to lead astray, if possible, also the chosen. | For there shall arise false Christs and false prophets, and shall show great signs and wonders, insomuch as to deceive (if possible) even the elect. | For there will rise up false Christs and false prophets, displaying wonderful signs and prodigies, so as to deceive, were it possible, even God's own People. |
Matthew 24:25 | Lo, I did tell you beforehand. | Behold I have told it to you, beforehand. | Remember, I have forewarned you. |
Matthew 24:26 | `If therefore they may say to you, Lo, in the wilderness he is, ye may not go forth; lo, in the inner chambers, ye may not believe; | If therefore they shall say to you: Behold he is in the desert, go ye not out: Behold he is in the closets, believe it not. | If therefore they should say to you, `See, He is in the Desert!' do not go out there: or `See, He is indoors in the room!' do not believe it. |
Matthew 24:27 | for as the lightning doth come forth from the east, and doth appear unto the west, so shall be also the presence of the Son of Man; | For as lightning cometh out of the east, and appeareth even into the west: so shall the coming of the Son of man be. | For just as the lightning flashes in the east and is seen to the very west, so will be the Coming of the Son of Man. |
Matthew 24:28 | for wherever the carcase may be, there shall the eagles be gathered together. | Wheresoever the body shall be, there shall the eagles also be gathered together. | Wherever the dead body is, there will the vultures flock together. |

Matthew 24:30 | and then shall appear the sign of the Son of Man in the heaven; and then shall all the tribes of the earth smite the breast, and they shall see the Son of Man coming upon the clouds of the heaven, with power and much glory; | And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all tribes of the earth mourn: and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with much power and majesty. | Then will appear the Sign of the Son of Man in the sky; and then will all the nations of the earth lament, when they see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky with great power and glory. |

Matthew 24:32 | `And from the fig-tree learn ye the simile: When already its branch may have become tender, and the leaves it may put forth, ye know that summer [is] nigh, | And from the fig tree learn a parable: When the branch thereof is now tender, and the leaves come forth, you know that summer is nigh. | "Now learn from the fig-tree the lesson it teaches. As soon as its branches have now become soft and it is bursting into leaf, you all know that summer is near. |
Matthew 24:33 | so also ye, when ye may see all these, ye know that it is nigh at the doors. | So you also, when you shall see all these things, know ye that it is nigh, even at the doors. | So you also, when you see all these signs, may be sure that He is near at your very door. |
Matthew 24:34 | Verily I say to you, this generation may not pass away till all these may come to pass. | Amen I say to you, that this generation shall not pass, till all these things be done. | I tell you in solemn truth that the present generation will certainly not pass away without all these things having first taken place. |
Matthew 24:35 | The heaven and the earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away. | Heaven and earth shall pass, but my words shall not pass. | Earth and sky will pass away, but it is certain that my words will not pass away. |
Matthew 24:36 | `And concerning that day and the hour no one hath known not even the messengers of the heavens except my Father only; | But of that day and hour no one knoweth, not the angels of heaven, but the Father alone. | "But as to that day and the exact time no one knows not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father alone. |
Matthew 24:37 | and as the days of Noah so shall be also the presence of the Son of Man; | And as in the days of Noe, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. | `For as it was in the time of Noah, so it will be at the Coming of the Son of Man. |
Matthew 24:38 | for as they were, in the days before the flood, eating, and drinking, marrying, and giving in marriage, till the day Noah entered into the ark, | For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, even till that day in which Noe entered into the ark, | At that time, before the Deluge, men were busy eating and drinking, taking wives or giving them, up to the very day when Noah entered the Ark, |
Matthew 24:39 | and they did not know till the flood came and took all away; so shall be also the presence of the Son of Man. | And they knew not till the flood came, and took them all away; so also shall the coming of the Son of man be. | nor did they realise any danger till the Deluge came and swept them all away; so will it be at the Coming of the Son of Man. |

Matthew 24:43 | and this know, that if the master of the house had known in what watch the thief doth come, he had watched, and not suffered his house to be broken through; | But know this ye, that if the goodman of the house knew at what hour the thief would come, he would certainly watch, and would not suffer his house to be broken open. | But of this be assured, that if the master of the house had known the hour at which the robber was coming, he would have kept awake, and not have allowed his house to be broken into. |
Matthew 24:44 | because of this also ye, become ye ready, because in what hour ye do not think, the Son of Man doth come. | Wherefore be you also ready, because at what hour you know not the Son of man will come. | Therefore you also must be ready; for it is at a time when you do not expect Him that the Son of Man will come. |
Matthew 24:45 | `Who, then, is the servant, faithful and wise, whom his lord did set over his household, to give them the nourishment in season? | Who, thinkest thou, is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath appointed over his family, to give them meat in season. | "Who therefore is the loyal and intelligent servant to whom his master has entrusted the control of his household to give them their rations at the appointed time? |
Matthew 24:46 | Happy that servant, whom his lord, having come, shall find doing so; | Blessed is that servant, whom when his lord shall come he shall find so doing. | Blessed is that servant whom his master when he comes shall find so doing! |
