Philippians 4:1 | So then, my brethren, beloved and longed for, my joy and crown, so stand ye in the Lord, beloved. | Therefore, my dearly beloved brethren, and most desired, my joy and my crown; so stand fast in the Lord, my dearly beloved. | Therefore, my brethren, dearly loved and longed for, my joy and crown, so stand firm in the Lord, my dearly-loved ones. |
Philippians 4:2 | Euodia I exhort, and Syntyche I exhort, to be of the same mind in the Lord; | I beg of Evodia, and I beseech Syntyche, to be of one mind in the Lord. | I entreat Euodia, and I entreat Syntyche, to be of one mind, as sisters in Christ. |
Philippians 4:3 | and I ask also thee, genuine yoke-fellow, be assisting those women who in the good news did strive along with me, with Clement also, and the others, my fellow-workers, whose names [are] in the book of life. | And I entreat thee also, my sincere companion, help those women who have laboured with me in the gospel, with Clement and the rest of my fellow labourers, whose names are in the book of life. | Yes, and I beg you also, my faithful yoke-fellow, to help these women who have shared my toil in connection with the Good News, together with Clement and the rest of my fellow labourers, whose names are recorded in the Book of Life. |
Philippians 4:4 | Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice; | Rejoice in the Lord always; again, I say, rejoice. | Always be glad in the Lord: I will repeat it, be glad. |
Philippians 4:5 | let your forbearance be known to all men; the Lord [is] near; | Let your modesty be known to all men. The Lord is nigh. | Let your forbearing spirit be known to every one the Lord is near. |
Philippians 4:6 | for nothing be anxious, but in everything by prayer, and by supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known unto God; | Be nothing solicitous; but in every thing, by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your petitions be made known to God. | Do not be over-anxious about anything, but by prayer and earnest pleading, together with thanksgiving, let your request be unreservedly made known in the presence of God. |
Philippians 4:7 | and the peace of God, that is surpassing all understanding, shall guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. | And the peace of God, which surpasseth all understanding, keep your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. | And then the peace of God, which transcends all our powers of thought, will be a garrison to guard your hearts and minds in union with Christ Jesus. |
Philippians 4:8 | As to the rest, brethren, as many things as are true, as many as [are] grave, as many as [are] righteous, as many as [are] pure, as many as [are] lovely, as many as [are] of good report, if any worthiness, and if any praise, these things think upon; | For the rest, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever modest, whatsoever just, whatsoever holy, whatsoever lovely, whatsoever of good fame, if there be any virtue, if any praise of discipline, think on these things. | Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever wins respect, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovable, whatever is of good repute if there is any virtue or anything deemed worthy of praise cherish the thought of these things. |
Philippians 4:9 | the things that also ye did learn, and receive, and hear, and saw in me, those do, and the God of the peace shall be with you. | The things which you have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, these do ye, and the God of peace shall be with you. | The doctrines and the line of conduct which I taught you both what you heard and what you saw in me hold fast to them; and God who gives peace will be with you. |
Philippians 4:10 | And I rejoiced in the Lord greatly, that now at length ye flourished again in caring for me, for which also ye were caring, and lacked opportunity; | Now I rejoice in the Lord exceedingly, that now at length your thought for me hath flourished again, as you did also think; but you were busied. | But I rejoice with a deep and holy joy that now at length you have revived your thoughtfulness for my welfare. Indeed you have always been thoughtful for me, although opportunity failed you. |
Philippians 4:11 | not that in respect of want I say [it], for I did learn in the things in which I am to be content; | I speak not as it were for want. For I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, to be content therewith. | I do not refer to this through fear of privation, for (for my part) I have learned, whatever be my outward experiences, to be content. |
Philippians 4:12 | I have known both to be abased, and I have known to abound; in everything and in all things I have been initiated, both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to be in want. | I know both how to be brought low, and I know how to abound: (everywhere, and in all things I am instructed) both to be full, and to be hungry; both to abound, and to suffer need. | I know both how to live in humble circumstances and how to live amid abundance. I am fully initiated into all the mysteries both of fulness and of hunger, of abundance and of want. |
Philippians 4:13 | For all things I have strength, in Christ`s strengthening me; | I can do all these things in him who strengtheneth me. | I have strength for anything through Him who gives me power. |
Philippians 4:14 | but ye did well, having communicated with my tribulation; | Nevertheless you have done well in communicating to my tribulation. | Yet I thank you for taking your share in my troubles. |
Philippians 4:15 | and ye have known, even ye Philippians, that in the beginning of the good news when I went forth from Macedonia, no assembly did communicate with me in regard to giving and receiving except ye only; | And you also know, O Philippians, that in the beginning of the gospel, when I departed from Macedonia, no church communicated with me as concerning giving and receiving, but you only: | And you men and women of Philippi also know that at the first preaching of the Good News, when I had left Macedonia, no other Church except yourselves held communication with me about giving and receiving; |
Philippians 4:16 | because also in Thessalonica, both once and again to my need ye sent; | For unto Thessalonica also you sent once and again for my use. | because even in Thessalonica you sent several times to minister to my needs. |
Philippians 4:17 | not that I seek after the gift, but I seek after the fruit that is overflowing to your account; | Not that I seek the gift, but I seek the fruit that may abound to your account. | Not that I crave for gifts from you, but I do want to see abundant fruit bring you honour. |
Philippians 4:18 | and I have all things, and abound; I am filled, having received from Epaphroditus the things from you an odour of a sweet smell a sacrifice acceptable, well-pleasing to God: | But I have all, and abound: I am filled, having received from Epaphroditus the things you sent, an odour of sweetness, an acceptable sacrifice, pleasing to God. | I have enough of everything and more than enough. My wants are fully satisfied now that I have received from the hands of Epaphroditus the generous gifts which you sent me they are a fragrant odor, an acceptable sacrifice, truly pleasing to God. |
Philippians 4:19 | and my God shall supply all your need, according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus; | And may my God supply all your want, according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. | But my God so great is His wealth of glory in Christ Jesus will fully supply every need of yours. |
Philippians 4:20 | and to God, even our Father, [is] the glory to the ages of the ages. Amen. | Now to God and our Father be glory world without end. Amen. | And to our God and Father be the glory throughout the Ages of the Ages! Amen. |
Philippians 4:21 | Salute ye every saint in Christ Jesus; there salute you the brethren with me; | Salute ye every saint in Christ Jesus. | My Christian greetings to every one of God's people. The brethren who are with me send their greetings. |
Philippians 4:22 | there salute you all the saints, and specially those of Caesar`s house; | The brethren who are with me, salute you. All the saints salute you; especially they that are of Caesar's household. | All God's people here greet you especially the members of Caesar's household. |
Philippians 4:23 | the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ [is] with you all. Amen. | The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Amen. | May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirits. |
