 The Young's Literal Translation Online Bible (YLT)The Douay Rheims Online Bible (DRV)The Weymouth New Testament Online Bible (WEY)
Romans 3:1What, then, [is] the superiority of the Jew? or what the profit of the circumcision?What advantage then hath the Jew, or what is the profit of circumcision?What special privilege, then, has a Jew? Or what benefit is to be derived from circumcision?
Romans 3:2much in every way; for first, indeed, that they were intrusted with the oracles of God;Much every way. First indeed, because the words of God were committed to them.The privilege is great from every point of view. First of all, because the Jews were entrusted with God's truth.
Romans 3:3for what, if certain were faithless? shall their faithlessness the faithfulness of god make useless?For what if some of them have not believed? shall their unbelief make the faith of God without effect? God forbid.For what if some Jews have proved unfaithful? Shall their faithlessness render God's faithfulness worthless?
Romans 3:4let it not be! and let God become true, and every man false, according as it hath been written, `That Thou mayest be declared righteous in Thy words, and mayest overcome in Thy being judged.`But God is true; and every man a liar, as it is written, That thou mayest be justified in thy words, and mayest overcome when thou art judged.No, indeed; let us hold God to be true, though every man should prove to be false. As it stands written, "That Thou mayest be shown to be just in the sentence Thou pronouncest, and gain Thy cause when Thou contendest."
Romans 3:5And, if our unrighteousness God`s righteousness doth establish, what shall we say? is God unrighteous who is inflicting the wrath? (after the manner of a man I speak)But if our injustice commend the justice of God, what shall we say? Is God unjust, who executeth wrath?But if our unrighteousness sets God's righteousness in a clearer light, what shall we say? (Is God unrighteous I speak in our everyday language when He inflicts punishment?
Romans 3:6let it not be! since how shall God judge the world?(I speak according to man.) God forbid: otherwise how shall God judge this world?No indeed; for in that case how shall He judge all mankind?)
Romans 3:7for if the truth of God in my falsehood did more abound to His glory, why yet am I also as a sinner judged?For if the truth of God hath more abounded through my lie, unto his glory, why am I also yet judged as a sinner?If, for instance, a falsehood of mine has made God's truthfulness more conspicuous, redounding to His glory, why am I judged all the same as a sinner?
Romans 3:8and not, as we are evil spoken of, and as certain affirm us to say `We may do the evil things, that the good ones may come?` whose judgment is righteous.And not rather (as we are slandered, and as some affirm that we say) let us do evil, that there may come good? whose damnation is just.And why should we not say for so they wickedly misrepresent us, and so some charge us with arguing "Let us do evil that good may come"? The condemnation of those who would so argue is just.
Romans 3:9What, then? are we better? not at all! for we did before charge both Jews and Greeks with being all under sin,What then? Do we excel them? No, not so. For we have charged both Jews, and Greeks, that they are all under sin.What then? Are we Jews more highly estimated than they? Not in the least; for we have already charged all Jews and Gentiles alike with being in thraldom to sin.
Romans 3:10according as it hath been written `There is none righteous, not even one;As it is written: There is not any man just.Thus it stands written, "There is not one righteous man.
Romans 3:11There is none who is understanding, there is none who is seeking after God.There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God.There is not one who is really wise, nor one who is a diligent seeker after God.
Romans 3:12All did go out of the way, together they became unprofitable, there is none doing good, there is not even one.All have turned out of the way; they are become unprofitable together: there is none that doth good, there is not so much as one.All have turned aside from the right path; they have every one of them become corrupt. There is no one who does what is right no, not so much as one."
Romans 3:13A sepulchre opened [is] their throat; with their tongues they used deceit; poison of asps [is] under their lips.Their throat is an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have dealt deceitfully. The venom of asps is under their lips."Their throats resemble an opened grave; with their tongues they have been talking deceitfully." "The venom of vipers lies hidden behind their lips."
Romans 3:14Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness.Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness:"Their mouths are full of cursing and bitterness."
Romans 3:15Swift [are] their feet to shed blood.Their feet swift to shed blood:"Their feet move swiftly to shed blood.
Romans 3:16Ruin and misery [are] in their ways.Destruction and misery in their ways:Ruin and misery mark their path;
Romans 3:17And a way of peace they did not know.And the way of peace they have not known:and the way to peace they have not known."
Romans 3:18There is no fear of God before their eyes.`There is no fear of God before their eyes."There is no fear of God before their eyes."
Romans 3:19And we have known that as many things as the law saith, to those in the law it doth speak, that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may come under judgment to God;Now we know, that what things soever the law speaketh, it speaketh to them that are in the law; that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may be made subject to God.But it cannot be denied that all that the Law says is addressed to those who are living under the Law, in order that every mouth may be stopped, and that the whole world may await sentence from God.
Romans 3:20wherefore by works of law shall no flesh be declared righteous before Him, for through law is a knowledge of sin.Because by the works of the law no flesh shall be justified before him. For by the law is the knowledge of sin.For on the ground of obedience to Law no man living will be declared righteous before Him. Law simply brings a sure knowledge of sin.
Romans 3:21And now apart from law hath the righteousness of God been manifested, testified to by the law and the prophets,But now without the law the justice of God is made manifest, being witnessed by the law and the prophets.But now a righteousness coming from God has been brought to light apart from any Law, both Law and Prophets bearing witness to it
Romans 3:22and the righteousness of God [is] through the faith of Jesus Christ to all, and upon all those believing, for there is no difference,Even the justice of God, by faith of Jesus Christ, unto all and upon all them that believe in him: for there is no distinction:a righteousness coming from God, which depends on faith in Jesus Christ and extends to all who believe. No distinction is made;
Romans 3:23for all did sin, and are come short of the glory of GodFor all have sinned, and do need the glory of God.for all alike have sinned, and all consciously come short of the glory of God,
Romans 3:24being declared righteous freely by His grace through the redemption that [is] in Christ Jesus,Being justified freely by his grace, through the redemption, that is in Christ Jesus,gaining acquittal from guilt by His free unpurchased grace through the deliverance which is found in Christ Jesus.
Romans 3:25whom God did set forth a mercy seat, through the faith in his blood, for the shewing forth of His righteousness, because of the passing over of the bygone sins in the forbearance of GodWhom God hath proposed to be a propitiation, through faith in his blood, to the shewing of his justice, for the remission of former sins,He it is whom God put forward as a Mercy-seat, rendered efficacious through faith in His blood, in order to demonstrate His righteousness because of the passing over, in God's forbearance, of the sins previously committed
Romans 3:26for the shewing forth of His righteousness in the present time, for His being righteous, and declaring him righteous who [is] of the faith of Jesus.Through the forbearance of God, for the shewing of his justice in this time; that he himself may be just, and the justifier of him, who is of the faith of Jesus Christ.with a view to demonstrating, at the present time, His righteousness, that He may be shown to be righteous Himself, and the giver of righteousness to those who believe in Jesus.
Romans 3:27Where then [is] the boasting? it was excluded; by what law? of works? no, but by a law of faith:Where is then thy boasting? It is excluded. By what law? Of works? No, but by the law of faith.Where then is there room for your boasting? It is for ever shut out. On what principle? On the ground of merit? No, but on the ground of faith.
Romans 3:28therefore do we reckon a man to be declared righteous by faith, apart from works of law.For we account a man to be justified by faith, without the works of the law.For we maintain that it is as the result of faith that a man is held to be righteous, apart from actions done in obedience to Law.
Romans 3:29The God of Jews only [is He], and not also of nations?Is he the God of the Jews only? Is he not also of the Gentiles? Yes, of the Gentiles also.Is God simply the God of the Jews, and not of the Gentiles also? He is certainly the God of the Gentiles also,
Romans 3:30yes, also of nations; since one [is] God who shall declare righteous the circumcision by faith, and the uncircumcision through the faith.For it is one God, that justifieth circumcision by faith, and uncircumcision through faith.unless you can deny that it is one and the same God who will pronounce the circumcised to be acquitted on the ground of faith, and the uncircumcised to be acquitted through the same faith.
Romans 3:31Law then do we make useless through the faith? let it not be! yea, we do establish law.Do we, then, destroy the law through faith? God forbid: but we establish the law.Do we then by means of this faith abolish the Law? No, indeed; we give the Law a firmer footing.
